Amazing news Stef! So happy to hear things are going well and can't wait to see you in the skies again. For now enjoy the virtual skies!

Why not MSFS? You were trying it during covid. Plus it has multiplayer so you could make a live stream with your subscribers 😊

Yep, Stefan, I’m a retired Aeronautical Engineer with some piloting experience, as with other’s here, I have the Microsoft flight simulator on a PC with Augmented Reality goggles, joystick, throttle and pedals. Fantastic and I can ‘fly’ all sorts of aircraft, including the Cirrus SR-22. Although now I’m ’flying around’ with the Cirrus Vision Jet, fantastic four seater personal jet!

Out of the box X-Plane controls for rudders are too aggressive. Set all sensitivity sliders to zero and play with the response curve to make them more natural. There are videos and forum posts on how to do it if you're new to the SIM. Glad to see you flying!

Hey Stef, I have a few questions: 1. What planes have you flown? 2. What is your favourite plane? 3. Are you coming to Avalon and/or Oshkosh when they are on?

Never give up! Keep writing letters and keep cooperating with the FAA, or whatever the Australian equivalent is. It will probably take a few years since government agencies are inherently slow, but I’m confident that you can get a medical back. I’ve seen people here in the states get medicals back after major medical episodes. Just keep up the fight!

0:51 "I'm going to assume that I've done all of my checklist..." I know you're "Just making a video" - but ... Fly how you train, Train how you fly. If you would never skip pre-flight in life, then you need the discipline to do it in the sim. It's the discipline to force you to do the "things you know how to do" when you are tired, or bored, or think you've got it all together that makes a good pilot. Even in the airline, the times you see someone doing a check from memory, just because it's only a couple of steps, is the same number of times you see a poor pilot.

YES!! I was going to suggest MSFS 2020 to you. Combine that with VR and an Nvidia RTX 4090 and you are set! I love it in VR. You could do awesome content on how to use all the instrumentation in game with your real world experience! Still trying to work it all out myself. One of my favourite regular flights is Moorabbin airport (I live not far from there so that is my go to start) to Melbourne CBD to Lilydale behind the Dandenong Ranges out to Wilsons Prom then landing at Flinders Island.

Hi Stefan, Wonderful to see you finally back in the "air". And FANTASTIC News regarding your checkup results Stefan. So so good to read this. You mention the circumnavigation os Oz by Gobels and McIntye 100 years ago. During my 16 years~and~continuing research on the McIntyre Field base at Tocumwal, at one stage I'd considered him as the namesake. But after some archaeological prodding/digging, I found Captain Patrick William McIntyre is the actual WWII fighter ace (from Illinois USA) the place was named after. Peter Dunn has put up on his site a fair bit to do with Captain P W McIntyre from my findings, as I thinkk also Matt at the Toc museum. 🙂
@StefanDrury12 сағат бұрын
Ah that's very interesting, I'll take a look at Peter Dunn's website. Thanks for letting me know.

Yay!!!! 😃 MSFS2020 has much better scenery etc but some of the addon scenery bogs down Melbourne a bit. Once you are totally captured (hooked on flight sim) you could upgrade to msfs2020. I know you would appreciate the scenery and flight charcteristics for many of the aircraft (both default and addons). Enjoy! 🤠
