iPhone 11 Pro Max in 2024 - Time For An Upgrade?

I’m using 11 Pro Max 256gb.. frosted green.. and it is a beast. I got it 2nd hand in April 2022 at around 84% Battery Health for around $630, and it has only come down to 77% after 2.5 years of use.. I’m getting the battery replaced this week and I plan to use it until 2028, to see if it was worth upgrading in 2028… it has the best camera, amazing speakers, beautiful screen and it’s buttery smooth.. loved your honest video on this phone. I love the rounded edges as the new ones feel so uncomfortable to hold.. I’m super happy with iOS 18 updates as well.. this is the best phone I have ever owned hands down

@@TheTCTech UPDATE: I got the battery replaced and The phone is running exactly how you expected it to be My experience with iPhone is that it never hangs or buffers while using it.. with low battery health I sometimes saw my phone struggle a bit.. even though rarely!! That has been resolved. the brightness would surely dim while playing a heavy game and that does not happen anymore and where I used to charge my phone twice under 12 hours, now the phone gives me a good back up of 18 hours in a single charge with day to day use which was expected.. so replacing the battery has been a huge help and I now have a peace of mind.. also, Phone does not heat up anymore as sometimes it would in the past

I'm currently using iPhone 15 Plus 128gb and I'm thinking on getting an older phone (iPhone 11-13) with 256gb as I learned that 128gb is not enough storage nowadays. sidenote: I've had every new iPhone each year that Apple released from 11 Pro to 15 Plus, now I'm looking for one with more storage and the older models are cheaper to buy lol

The 13 is a good stopgap between all those models. The 14 is way too similar to the 13, but the 12 has less battery life than the 13, so I believe the 13 splits the difference between good performance, battery, etc… while also being slightly cheaper than the 14 and 15 series.

Hi, thanks for your comment! Just wanted to say that night mode sorta works in a hacky way in the 2x mode because it’s actually a digital crop from the 1x lens in order to use night mode. You can actually test this by blocking the telephoto camera and taking a night mode photo at 2x. It will still take the photo because it’s using the 1x and up scaling a digital crop. Apple changes the EXIF data to make it appear that it uses the 2x camera, but it is actually using the 1x. Hope this helps! :)

@@TheTCTech Wow i just now tested it and its true :)) I thought that night mode works on both telephoto and main lenses but no. Also one interesting thing that I noticed testing what you said is that whenever you get close to something while on 2x it will automatically switch to 1x lens and when facing the camera to a further away object it will automatically switch to 2x. But if you hold your finger over the main camera it will switch to main camera!

I have the 11 pro max in green and all ive done was replaced the battery. I dont see any upgrade anytime soon. Thank you apple for introducing this model!! If everything runs why upgrade if nothing is damaged?? I dont see how anyone would upgrade their devices each year. The world is like "Omg gotta have the latest tech" i dont agree... But to each ot theor own i guess

@@louiscunningham3094 a battery replacement definitely breathes new life into these devices. 11 Pro Max is a good phone still and I think most people will feel the same way about it as well. I think the better upgrade cycles now are every 3-4 years to get the most “bang for buck”

Hi there, thanks for your comment! If you’re asking about software support for the 11PM, I believe it should have at least another major software update (iOS 18) this fall, however I can see Apple restricting some of the rumored AI features to the newer iPhones. That being said, I haven’t really noticed any real slowdowns with my 11PM and I’m running the latest iOS version on it currently.

@@noalios8354 thanks! I appreciate it. Honestly just try to get one with good battery health, like 92-100% and you should be fine. It does like 90% of what my 13 Pro Max does, the biggest difference to me being the 120hz display, but performance wise, they’re both really similar. Hope you enjoy it!

In my humble opinion, I believe the 11 Pro Max still has at least three good years left in it before Apple stop support. It may not receive all the latest features yet I do believe it’ll still function as a phone and social media.

@@mealsome-wp1st for sure, I get you there. The battery likely won’t be as long as the 11 Pro Max, but you could always have it swapped out for a new one. Although, if you aren’t pressed for buying a new phone right now, I would wait till September when the new iPhones come out since all the older ones will go down in price further. So you could potentially find an even better deal.

If you can, checking screen on time is a good gauge to see how healthy the battery is as well. My 13 Pro Max has 87% battery health and has been stuck there for months, battery still gets me through the day but can go a little fast between 100-70% I’ve noticed.

@@TheTCTech my 10 max is at 79% battery health I want to get the 15 but I might as well wait for the 16 so I may buy the 11 on eBay brand new for a little over $400 think I might go that route and just wait to get the 16 around Christmas time or my birthday in March storage space is how much used up on my max so it’s time to upgrade…
