Zooming digitally before pressing the shutter makes a substantial difference. The iPhone (only can speak for the regular 14) already fills with it's computational photography the missing pixels to get you the same output size as fully zoomed out. Also depending on the scene it sharpens and doing all kinds of stuff differently. For example taking a picture of some writings of your universities professors blackboard from last row is much better readable when you first zoom in and then take the picture. Maybe also another video to test these out.

You can name these specific dogs and cats and then new photos taken of them will automatically be recognized as that dog or cat and be named appropriately.

Tertraprism (tetra = 4-sided prism) is a correct term for this optical element and not just fancy marketing. I am not an optics specialist, but pro-camera enthusiast. So SLR camera have a mirror inside which reflects (and flips) light to the top direction where matte glass (microprism glass later yers) is localed. Then petaprism (penta = 5-sided prism) on top of this focus-screen is used as an optical element, to flip the image in 2 dimensions back to the viewfinder. Since in new iPhone camera light is going straight to the digital sensor, you can use simple computations to flip it as you need. So tetraprism is a correct term, and I love Apple using this terms and not calling it Nano-Pulsar-Neo-5000EFM-G2 or other stupid marketing names. As for the metal-ion infused glass. It is still absolutely correct, but a bit fancy way of saying it. Many of the colorants used in glassmaking are metal oxides. When these oxides are introduced to the molten glass, they can dissociate into metal ions and oxide ions. So when it is still correct, your green glass bottle of beer in the fridge is also metal ions infused. But I like this kind of marketing, it is techincally correct, increases education (at least some people will google-it) and sounds cool and elevates the whole personal experience of the product.

Just because I know David likes to have his facts straight, I want to point out that Nvidia did not create ray tracing. Pixar was using it for years before Nvidia released their RTX cards. What Nvidia did though, was to bring real-time ray tracing to the fore with their specialized hardware accelerators. From Wikipedia: "Using a computer for ray tracing to generate shaded pictures was first accomplished by Arthur Appel in 1968."

I love how all Anker and Belkin USB-C to USB-C cables on Amazon now properly advertise they have only been supporting USB 2.0 speeds this whole time. Well, Belkin cleverly hides behind "Certified Hi-Speed USB" which is the label for USB 2.0. USB 3.0 certified is called "SuperSpeed". So, all existing USB-C phone cables will need to be replaced anyhow if people actually want USB 3.0 speeds. Now instead of a lightning cable and USB-C cable in your bag you'll be carrying a USB-C PD USB 2.0 for your laptop and USB-C USB 3.0 cable for your phone.

To be clear, NVidia created tensor cores, but raytracing was a thing long before that.
@chillypacman Жыл бұрын
Just some pedantic points to clarify on ray tracing: nVidia did not invent ray tracing, but as far as I'm aware they were first to market for a consumer level real time implementation of ray tracing on hardware Games don't necessarily 'guess' where the light should be, there are many techniques for lighting effects including prebaked that can render the lighting offline giving you accurate lighting, but the trade off is they're not real time. There's also stencil based lighting that became popular with Doom 3 that gave you real time lighting and shadows but they couldn't do soft shadows. Other techniques like deferred rendering gives you a virtually unlimited number of real time per pixel light sources but they don't bounce lights or create shadows. Path traced lights are pretty much the closest we come to rendering lights as they exist in the real world. They give us shadows and reflections. (+ Ambient occlusion and other benefits) in one solution. The comparison demo apple did for ray tracing was comparing a software ray tracer to their new hardware based ray tracer. It was a bit misleading because dedicated hardware for a task will almost always beat out software emulating that same function.

You want to turn off the activation gesture for it to stay on all the time, and you also want to turn off visual signal, these will make the feature fully seamless. It is such a nice setup!
