I have been searching for the cause of this problem ever since I got my phone and my alarm function cannot wake me up or alert me because it goes nearly silent right after the alarm starts. This function is totally nonsensical in its location as it involves sound and should be under the sound settings. What a major irritation and disappointment with this phone over the past year because of this singular reason. Thanks for your help though, since no one else seemed very capable of figuring it out including Apple.

Dude thank you so much… not sure why but it was starting to do this dimming feature when my alarms go off. I never miss an alarms due to me being a caregiver for my Grammy and her meds for years I’ve never missed all of a sudden the alarms sounds started dimming. It would go off once then dim. I thought maybe an update was required and kept testing it out. Finally came on here cause nothing worked. I would have never thought Face ID feature. Finally started working again as normal. You saved me thank you! 😊😊

I hope i find a solution to my iphone 12 pro issue and I'm hoping you may be able to help. I was on speaker phone earlier today and the volume indicator was going up and down without anything touching it. It was going up to loud, down to soft, loud, soft, it went on for a few seconds. Does this sound familiar? I turned off the Attention Awareness feature but it's still happening. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
