I was nervous to purchase the pixel 5 because of the speakers, but I'm not a speaker snob so I honestly haven't really noticed anything! Sounds great to me for videos. When making calls it sounds a tad muffled if your in loud areas but otherwise love the pixel 5!

I have the exact setup. Last year I have a iPhone 11+a Pixel 3. This year I swapped them both with the 12 Mini and the Pixel 5. I also can't say which one is better but right now I am also dailying the Pixel 5! (Thought the speaker will be a deal breaker for me but it turns out, you'll get used to it for some reason )

4:19 - I prefer the Pixel 5's photos. I don't know how to describe it, but I think the higher contrast and cooler colors of the Pixel 5's photos just make them seem more 3D & realistic to me; the Mini's photos look like a spray of similar colors where it's harder to tell where something begins and ends.

After Jerry's teardown, we now know that Pixel 5's bioresin shell is a super thick boy. And I hope they keep that material for future phones. Having not to worry about cracks or drops - while rocking the phone naked - is an added plus to user experience, same goes with battery. Too many OEMs focus too much on software from a user experience standpoint, and totally neglect that hardware too, can make or break user experience.

Hope you don't get used to an 90Hz (+) display in the future. With my latest phone, it's become a deal breaker for me for future phones. I'll take the form factor of the Pixel 5 with the nice OLED display and smaller size and sacrifice the (much) better sound of my Razer phone2's front facing speakers though. Just wish the Pixel 5 had the headphone jack.

I have a 12 mini and I really love it. More than a month with it. Watching this review, Pixel performs better in batery and is cheaper than the iPhone. If you dont have problems with the batery and budget I would recomend you the 12 mini. But I have to say that this is a small phone that has to be used as that with really great things. If you buy the new charging cube your mini is gonna be charged in an hour

My first phone was the Nexus 4 in 2013. After the charging port broke and stopped charging in early 2017, I got a super cheaper LG k7 to use temporarily. The LG K7 was very similar to the Nexus 4 and held up decently until I got an iPhone SE in early 2018. The OG iPhone SE worked really well and still does, but the battery is on life support. When ambient temps go down to the 50s, it's prone to dying even if charged to 100%. The power button also stopped working. I'm now either going to get the iPhone 12 Mini or Pixel 5a. I also prefer the pocketability of the iPhone 12 mini. Which should I get? What's most important to me is the camera photo and video quality in low light conditions, battery life, durability, and longevity. I'm still getting updates on my 2016 iPhone SE. I know Pixels only get 3-4 years of updates.

Great review. I picked the Pixel over the iPhone 12 mini. Some of that was a preference for Android and I'm always a bit nervous with expensive glass phones. I've never broken one, but aluminum is more my thing, especially when it's got a nice grippy coating. The battery life is also a big deal for me. Having a phone with great battery life that isn't huge is really helpful. I got the pixel at a great price from a highly rated Ebay seller, paying £519 as opposed to £599. It's a brand new UK version, but the box had been opened. I was a bit concerned at first as it didn't recognise my WIFI and the finger print sensor was pretty poor. It then updated itself and it's now perfect. Thanks again!

The overriding factor for me is the smaller form factor of the iPhone. I just don't like carrying around those larger bricks in my pocket. Pixel 4a is smaller than the standard 6"+ display and may be a better bet versus the 12mini, particularly at half the price.

I am sure you will enjoy the Pixel 5. I think it has one of the best Android operating system without bloat wares with one of the best cameras. I did the reverse, switching from Android to iPhone 11. Iphone is more expensive but I reckon it works out cheaper than an Android phone ( including the Pixel ) in the long run due to the length of software support and used value if I am going to sell it in the future. This is my impression after owning the original Pixel ( 2016 ) ,no more software updates since November 2019 and Google does not have battery replacement service in the UK. If I am to spend £400 or more on a phone I expect more than 3 years updates , it is my personal feeling of course.

@@b11480 I heard that iSmash in the UK can replace the battery of the old Pixel but my daughter who used iSmash to replace her iPhone 7 battery had bad experience. So I am not sure if it is safe or not to use them to replace the battery. Next time I go to the the US I will get it replaced there ( don't know when due to Covid, I used to go to the US once a year to visit my sister).

The Pixel 5 is a decent phone for $700, but I definitely looked at others. Ultimately I got the Pixel 5, partly because I was upgrading from a Pixel 2 (smallish brand loyalty), but largely because I'm already a Verizon customer (for better or worse) and Best Buy had Verizon contacted Pixel 5's for $500 on Black Friday! Which hopefully they'll have that price again for any who missed it.

I apologize if this was mentioned in the video and I missed it, but how is the call quality? I currently have an iphone XS and the call quality is SO bad i have to hunt down headphones every time i need to make or receive a call, which is an enormous pain. Paired with other weird hiccups this phone have, seriously turned off to apple phones 😩

Thank you for giving an honest review based on simultaneous daily use. Clearly the competition here is too close to call, and has to come down to personal priorities. In cases where it’s actually true, that’s EXACTLY what I want to hear when I’m trying to decide between two products at comparable price-to-spec. I’m coming from a Pixel 3a myself, and I love everything about it except for the size. I will ALWAYS check what the Pixel options are before buying anything else. But when the difference between the two phones is so tight, I’d be daft not to pamper my tiny hands by grabbing the iPhone 12 Mini. I had hoped that the popularity of the Mini would encourage production of smaller Android phones, but with the disappointing sales on that particular model, I’m not holding my breath any more!

saw the pixel 5 in person in a store and it didn't give me a good impression at all, it might've been a bad unit but did not impress me at all which is a shame since I still appreciate the pixel. The pixel was very choppy and buggy and uncomfortable.

@@shivambhushan9028 Yup, i did buy it 😀 only 4 days ago in green color and surprise surprise there is no issue at all, the display is totally fine and amazing, i'm using it all the time since 4 days and no problem at all, i'm loving it !! i feel like people just like to create drama about apple's products or maybe they want to get attention so that's why they spread hate about apple products.. because otherwise all the oled displays are same with same technology on all the phones.. so from my side it is a big GO GO, just buy it and trust me you will love it !!

I like the fact the the pixel has a great battery life with more storage. It comes with a full charger and is a bit more affordable. The Iphone owner needs to stop being cheap with it charging. The Iphone only has a chord in the box, not cool. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the owner builds a quality phone and sells it's worth but is too cheap to add a complete charger in the box. Pixel 5 is a plastic back. No bullshitting here. I own one Jerry rig takes one apart. It has an aluminum frame. With a giant hole in the back. It's ok cause I shatter back glass on each phone eventually...but Google mislead people to think it is a full metal body. It is far from it. It is still nice change from glass fragile backed phones. But not aluminum chassis just aluminum bones.
