If you are worried about the size, buy the case before release date. (you'd have to buy one in store now since they won't ship before the release of the 12 max.) I bought a Otterbox Defender a little over a week or two ago and it finally arrived via fedex (which took forever to arrive) and I now feel so much more confident in spending the money on the 12 Pro Max now that I know it fits in my pocket and hand great!

@AWG*59... I did the exact same thing. Not so much to see how big the phone will be, but to have a case on hand to cover my new phone when I get it. Like you, I picked up an Otterbox case, but the Commuter Series. The phone will not fit on my wireless charging pad in my 2020 Explorer ST, so I will have to trade in my vehicle. But it will fit in my pocket and in my hand without any issue. Cant wait to reserve mine on Friday!

Guys, I’ve used a 12 pro max from my work place for a few days and that made me choose 12 pro. The phone is very big, and after using a case it becomes huge. You risking all the time to drop it and you can really feel it heavy in your pocket. Every time you need both hands to cover all the size of the screen. If you buy this just for the picture quality, it’s not a big difference and the battery will go down in time anyway. I would recommend max for the ladies as they can keep it in the purse.

I’m with you there. Being an older guy competing with younger folk with much better eyes, I have to do everything I can to not give up my ability to work quickly and effectively wherever I am. I’ve been using the XS Max. It’s by far the easiest to work with phone I’ve ever had so far. Much easier to read. And still relatively quick. So, yeah, I’m “eyeing” (I couldn’t resist the dad joke, sorry) the 12PM. If it’s significantly easier to see and use than the XS Max I’ll go for it. I like the longer battery life. But I’m also a die hard user of extended battery cases (yes, I can hear you groaning about the increase in size and weight). When traveling (not so much an issue right now, I know) or in the case of extended power outages or other emergencies, those extended batteries are a necessity. And the added physical protection for a guy who rides a bike for a couple hundred miles a week is not trivial either.

"Best" is kind of situational between 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. Bigger zoom range comes with smaller max aperture on telephoto, I believe? So if (like me), you tend to prefer wider angle shots, the 12 Pro is the better choice. Plus it won't fall out of my small lady hands, and I save a few hundred dollars to spend on trips to shoot photos. 😊

I suppose it just depends on your brain and how you process language. I'm definitely primarily an auditory learner- which traditional education tends to favor. Unfortunately, this trait is actually quite rare amongst the general population. Auditory-verbal learners occur as a very small minority when compared to the percentages of people that are naturally inclined to all the other various learning styles. Visual learners are actually the most common, despite it's reputation as being an exception to the rule...often you hear it in the context of an "excuse" for not comprehending whatever subject is being taught to them via assigned reading material or a lecture given by their teacher/professor. So often a student will say something like "I don't get it...I'm more of a visual learner" or whatever. But usually neither they nor their instructor realize that's actually the norm but according to research, it is. School systems don't intentionally cater to this minority of auditory learners- but they have been anyway, by default...for many generations! Since the typical K-12 class structure is based on a teacher verbally explaining the material, (and perhaps assigning some additional reading) which the students are supposed to comprehend and retain- then they're tested on that knowledge whether by taking a paper test, writing an essay, or demonstrating their comprehension via a project (which they create). At least the latter can allow for students of other learning types, particularly visual and kinesthetic (physical/experiential) learners, to play to their strengths and really connect with the subject in a way that's natural for them. But on a positive note, now we have these statistics from recent studies which show a consensus regarding learning style categories and how they trend among the general population in the US and/or the world. That's one reason there's been a shift toward alternatives to the traditional methods in education, and a push for more choices so that each individual student can choose how to learn the same curriculum but in whichever way fits them best on a personal level. You know, that's why you hear these modern buzzwords like "hands-on approach" and such. I think as long as they don't overcorrect their past mistakes by outright *replacing* auditory/verbal teaching with these other styles, it will be a good thing. Hopefully they simply add more options into the mix in order to to include all the learning styles that have previously been neglected. If education is improved with the goal of accommodating every student to give each person an equal opportunity to learn (as in gain knowledge, develop skills and even master the material). The whole point of school should be to ensure children are set up for success in life by the time they graduate from the system. If we could focus on that and achieve this goal, then we'll become better off as a society overall.

Thanks for the clear summary of the differences between the 12 Pro and the 12 Pro max. I already pre-ordered the 12 Pro, mainly because my current iPhone is the 7Plus and I felt the 12 Pro was going to do it for me. However, after watching a few reviews of 12 Pro vs 12 Pro Max, I began to sense that this time there is a real benefit to be had from the Max. Your video is really what it is all about for me and I came to the same conclusion as you did. The price difference is not a show stopper and the 7Plus and 12 Pro Max are almost identical in footprint. I cancelled my pre-order for the 12 Pro and I am going for the Max. I’m waffling about doing the same thing. I upgraded from an 8 plus to a 12 pro. Reading the measurements, I thought with the 12 pro, I’d be getting a screen that’s bigger than the 8 plus without it actually being a bigger phone (no bezels). What I found is the 12 pro has a LONGER yet NARROWER screen. I’m trying to talk myself into keeping it, but honestly I miss the width of the 8 plus in terms of viewing and hand feel. I have average sized female hands. They are smallish, but not overly so. The 8 plus was actually a perfect fit in my hand. I fear the 12 pro max will be too tall (I’m not worried about width), but I’m also feeling like the 12 pro is too small (narrow). I’m trying to decide what I want to do. I just got my 12 pro on the 28th of October, so I still have a little over a week in my return window. I have not activated my 12 pro, I’m still using my 8 plus and easing myself into the 12 pro by using it at home on WiFi to play games and such, but I keep picking up my 8 plus... and I can’t stop thinking about the 12 pro max.

I went from the XS Max to the 12 Pro, and I’m loving the new design and the size. The XS Max was too big for my hands, and the curved design made the device hard to hold for me. I think that the size of the 12 Pro is perfect, and I haven’t noticed a huge hit in battery, even while using 5G, in comparison to my last device. Maybe once the Pro Max has 120 hz refresh, and more of a step up in “Pro” features compared to the regular pro, I’ll go back to the bigger device. Great video!

Thanks for the insight. I too was struggling with 12 pro or 12 pro max. Life is too short to worry about specs and both phones are an excellent upgrade from my IPhone 7 Plus, I just could not get myself to Lug around the 12 pro Max. The entire reason for getting a phone over a dedicated camera is to always have it with you and I was very happy to hold the 12 pro in my hand and in my pockets. As for battery life I turned off 5G and put it into power saving mode. I am sure others will be very happy with the Pro Max.

@@The0n3 Battery life is about equal of slightly better than 7 plus and therefore 8 plus. However, I turn off completely 5G since LTE is plenty fast. Also in the morning set it to power saving mode. Screen brightness about 40 to 50%. If I start morning at 100% by 5pm I am around 40% with fairly heavy use through out the day. No problem for 1 fill day of use.

For a lot of people the size is a huge deal breaker. Paying £100 more for a size you dont enjoy. On top of that, most people take photos casually and the 12 Pro already has an incredible camera more than good enough for what they want. But yeh the size is the killer. The experience and practicality of holding and using it every day is infinitely more important than a few extra camera features you may take true advantage of once in a blue moon. If youre paying over £1000 for a phone, make sure you get exactly what you want! whats going to fit your lifestyle best.

The general feel, comfort, and aesthetics i'd argue have as much if not more of an influence on peoples choice. The iPhone 12 Pro just looks and feels better than the 12, with much more premium materials brighter screen, and some better internals in the PERFECT form factor of 6.1. Beyond that they dont care about +0.3 megapixel sensor and +3 optical zoom. they dont care. Carrying a brick around for an extra £100 just aint it

Magsafe is a waste of money man. I got it with the 20W brick from apple and still charges really slow. Now I almost always use the normal port for charging and it limits your choice of third party cases significantly.

I pre ordered the 12 pro, got it in hand, and hated the size. Maybe it's just muscle memory and I'm jumping 5 generations from the 7 plus. But because I have a plus phone, the pro just did not feel good in my hand. So I returned it and am waiting to pre-order the pro max. Like yes the 7 plus screen in smaller but the overall size of the 7 plus is bigger than the 12 pro and I was just used to holding a bigger phone.

I downsized from the Galaxy Note 10+ to the 12 Pro. As a photographer I really wanted the features of the Max, and prefer the larger screen. But I figured the Note 10+ was about as large as I wanted in a phone in terms of handling, and the 12 Pro Max is a little bigger. Also there’s an aspect that doesn’t get mentioned that much - the Pro Max is significantly heavier than the Pro. I imagined how that would feel in my pocket when I’m wearing shorts in the summer, and it was a deal breaker. So far the Pro seems very small, but otherwise a great phone, and I have to remind myself that it wasn’t that long ago that a 6” phone was considered really big.

I’m going back down to the normal 12 pro size, a year of the 11 pro max has tired me out on huge phones and hand aches. 6.1” is perfect in my opinion, the camera improvements aren’t enough for me to go huge again.

I had a hell of a time deciding between the 12 Pro and Pro Max when I ordered today. Wife was telling me to get the Max, had me convinced, and after I ordered it I changed it at the last split second to the Pro. I’m using it to document my John Muir Trail hike and the thought of the larger Max on a trekking pole mount had me concerned. Also my last two phones have been the 6 and the new gen SE. I’m still second guessing myself and wondering if I made the right decision.

When I bough the X I moved from the 8plus the screen was the same size but the form factor was so much smaller that I didn’t need a plus size or larger phone. Earlier this year I tried the 11 Pro Max and it was so uncomfortable to hold even though I have very large hands. I’ve been using the 12 pro since last week and the screen feels or seems significantly larger than the 11 pro I’ve been using. The phone is great and I feel the upgrades over the 11 pro are significant, however the battery life is disappointing. I’m getting around an hour or more less battery life than I was with the 11 Pro. Will see how the 12 Max pro feels in the hand and might consider moving to the Max just for the battery life. Sad that apple went this route.

I’m coming from the 8 plus. I don’t take that many pictures. So I think the pro is enough despite the battery life. Storage is my main desire. They could have done without stickers and manual and just add the full charger given the price.

I went from a 7plus to an 11 and I’ve never been so comfortable with the size of this phone I never ever complained . Just ordered the 12 pro and I’m satisfied . Yes I was going to wait for the pro max I also have large hands BUT how much screen do I actually need? I have 3 TVs at home . It’s 2020 , it should be all about comfort & functionality and necessities. I’m not gonna get greedy and get a Phablet just to say I’m highly upgraded plus the max can’t fit in my skinny jeans or my gym pants 😌

Regarding the F2.2 vs F2 trade-off - just because something is F2.2 doesn’t necessary mean it lets less light through than F2 lenses in general. If we’d talk about the same less, yes, it would be true. However, how well the light passes through the lens depends on its T-stop (light transmittance). F-stop is just something that cuts away from it the less open the lens is. Therefore, a F4 lens with T2 will let more light through than a F2 lens with T4. F and T are usually close but not necessary so let’s keep this in mind.

@@NileshR12 256 not enough. I had the iPhone 11 ProMax with 256 that I bought last year. It wasn’t enough so I traded it. 4K 30-60 fps videos takes up a lot of memory... especially in slow motion. I also prefer downloading movies in HD instead of streaming. That way, I can keep them on my phone and watch them anytime. So you see, 512 GBs may still not be enough. 😁😎

@@zuhairtv455 it’s definitely worth it for sure. the only thing which you might not like for the max compared to X is the size and weight. With X, texting and navigating the screen is still pretty easy. With Pro Max, you will need to hands but advantage is you get much bigger screen size and longer battery life with fantastic camera optics. Depends on what you really need.

Bigger thermal envelop is what I'm curious about. At one time I had both 6s and 6s plus at the same time. The 6s overheats easily when gaming or using to tether data to pc as hotspot, while the 6s plus is doing great on removing the heat with it's bigger body, getting warm and not hot.

I did a complete test on both... trust me... there is not much of a difference. Even the stabilizer isn't what you think it is. I've always used max or plus sizes... this year I'm the pro, not the max.

@@thihal123 The 2.5 zoom adds a bit more but realistically the size of the max was just too big ..I'd rather move 3 feet closer for the same shot lol. I' grew up in a photographer family...one thing I notice was that the max adds a tiny bit more light...but with the pro I just up'd the brightness by 2 and it looked the same. The fact I really had to compared both to see any difference just goes to show that non one will notice. Don't be fooled by all the fancy specs apples puts out... they are so so so similar you're not missing out going with the pro and not the max... honestly... mark my words that the pro will outsell the max. The Max is just too big. It really is.

As a cyclist who always rides, checks strava rides and commutes to London on a daily, coming from a 6 plus to Xs, when the Xs was released, the size difference was great, the regular Xs felt like the 6 plus with a bigger better screen, camera, performance and better mobility and easy to navigate with one hand. Yes I wear skinny jeans and it’s a nice snug fit. Not uncomfortably big or mega massive. Since cycling last year, I’ve realised the Xs is perfect for getting out and about, cycling, running and getting out and about, I can’t imagine carrying a screen nearly an inch larger in my pocket cycling at 25mph.. then God forbid coming off the bike or getting out of the car and the phone slips out of my pocket. Had to replace enough 6 plus screens and digitiser before. Just a disaster waiting to happen. So for me and other other outdoor folks, I’m not sure about you but I’d say the 12 Pro is more than enough, it’s still more of an upgrade from the Xs. And that’s without mentioning the hot screen issues as the phones get bigger over the years

I’m buying the Pro Max almost entirely because of the camera. I own several VERY good interchangeable lens cameras, both full frame and crop sensor, that just sit in the closet while I always have my phone with me. It appears Apple has finally made a camera phone that I’ll want to take photos with.

I am disgusted by the size of the 12 Pro Max and couldn’t care the better camera less. But BUT I pre-ordered 12 Pro Max, because the battery ONLY. I love LOVE my current 12 Pro, but it has too small of a battery for all the 5GGGGG. Missing a business call or message is much of an issue than taking a slightly better photo than already good photo on 12 Pro.

Mistakenly ordered the 12 Pro but it hasn't arrived yet so going to return it and go for the Max. For me the biggest upside is the battery. I want a phone to last the full day of heavy usage without worrying about charging it, also I'm coming from a S20 Ultra so the size is actually a bit smaller so it will be just fine in terms of size for me. The camera being improved over the Pro is the cherry on the cake that made my mind up to get the Max.

Actual price isn’t 1000 USD when it converts to the local currency it can go 1300-1800 USD in different countries or even more. The additional 100 USD u mentioned from pro to pro max gonna multiply 4 to 7 times of 100 USD to the local currency. Not all countries have this trade in or EMI options.
