It's amazing how close the quality is given the price of the pixel, to my eyes the iphone tends to oversaturate the yellows and reds especialy while brightening up the photos considerably but that also means the pixel actually looks more true to the actual appearance of the scene. I feel like that first video really showcases the iPhone’s better video quality. His face had more depth, color, and texture. Also, the selfies look better on the iPhone to me because they more evenly illuminate the face while blurring out the background. Finally, especially in photos with the sky, I feel like the iPhone’s dynamic range is better at keeping the sky detail without over darkening the landscape.

Another very useful comparison. I've just been watching on a 55 inch OLED TV to see if the iPhone blue color cast is apparent. It does show slightly in the cloudy skies in the daytime video, and the iPhone stabilisation seems marginally better. But considering the price difference, well... Pixel ain't too bad! Well iphones tend to saturate colors, especially the new iPhone 12. While the pixel 4a has a bit of a blueish tint to it's images, it tends to display more natural colors than the iPhones.

The pixel wins, more realistic colors, nothing yellowed in the photos, as the iphone always uses, the pixel at night stands out even more, in addition to its astrophotography mode that humiliates any other and didn't even appear there as it would be an unfair competition for the poor iphone rs. The iphone wins with little advantage only in the daytime video, because at night it stays below too.

Great comparison as usual. Thanks. I am also using 4a for a while and it's no doubt an amazing phone and camera. I noticed sometimes the photos are bit underexposed which can be fixed but yeah it's a regular occurring. Another and bigger 'issue' for me is that photos are not razor sharp. They are good, colors are so accurate and white balance etc all things are on point but it lacks the sharpness a tiny bit. So for me if, the issue of 'a bit underexposed' and 'sharpness' can get fixed in future updates, hands down all phones would be RIP in camera department :D forget the price bracket. Cheers.

Honestly the whole iPhone is better at video thing has been bugging me for a while. If I can see the person clearly, then it doesn’t really matter. The only thing they do is allow 4K (but compared to some phones I’ve seen them do better with 1080p over the iPhone’s 4K), increase saturation to an unrealistic point, and sharpen a ton. That’s not appealing to everyone.

At some points I was thinking that iPhone had white balance better and there was a clear tendency, only to be proven wrong when iPhone started getting it worse and Pixel started getting it better. That happened both in day and night shots, so if you mixed up the photos I wouldn't be able to tell a difference in most cases, which just tells how awesome pixel 4a is.

"Ability to connect to other Apple products" - you mean Bluetooth and other connectivity means, that literally any smartphone one the market is able to do and pair with basically everything that supports it? Build quality? In terms of what? Glass and aluminium? Many phones have that and build quality is something that you can find even on mid range phones these days, plus, you're going to slap a plastic case on it anyways, so much for build quality. And you've just literally watched a video where a under 300$ phone is competing head to head with a major flaghship phone that costs 3 times more. And if you're willing to pay 3 times more for a bunch of "innovative" stuff that's already been on the market for at least a decade, I'm not gonna stop you. Apple has good marketing, I'll give them that. And for 350$, you CAN buy a phone that WILL do everything that an iPhone does, cause all Iphones got going for them is IOS.

That function was available on Androids for the past x years or so, there are plenty of third party apps that do the same thing and it's as fast as Airdrop, but ofc, to you, it's something innovative, because of a different name. I'm pretty sure the official feature will be as fast if not faster after they do some more developing. The fact that you're comparing something experimental that came out at the end of the last year vs a thing from 2011, shows how insecure you're. Dolby vision HDR? You mean that specific, downgraded feature that no one's gonna use, because it's not supported on any social media, you can't share it and which requires special screen in oder to play it back? Very useful and convenient, haha. I just can't imagine an Apple user going a day without Dolby Vision HDR! It looks like you're still stuck in the previous decade or something, because even the cheapest budget phones like Xiaomi offers 7 years of software support, 5 years for Google devices, etc. Yes, there are a lot of junk apps on android's store, but that's a price me and everyone else is willing to pay in order to get access to millions of free, custom or whatever apps and any person with a common sense will not download suspicious bs. And ofc, a way more restricted and paid store with fewer apps will have more focus on the actual OS, rather than hundreds of different devices. And as far as official apps go, I don't see any difference when using them on Android or Iphone. Even though I couldn't care less for the smart watches, I'm still going to debunk your claim for the sake of it. Apple Watches owns 35% of the market, while the rest of the brands (Android) have over 64% of the market combined. So much for "the most common smart watch on the globe", huh? As for intentional slowing down, quote: "Apple has been fined 25 million euros (£21m, $27m) for deliberately slowing down older iPhone models without making it clear to consumers.". That sounds like something you've already said. Oh, wait, except it's not, you're just full of shit once again. And of course they'll start disclosing this after literally getting sued, haha. So much for an excellent premium device and customer support where you have to pay money just so your device won't get slowed down intentionally or it will start crashing or shutting down. Just an another genius tactic to milk their customers even more, while covering it up with "we care about your devices" gimmick. And why wouldn't Apple have a better customer support? So basically, all you've said is a bunch of shit you didn't even care to look up, named a few basic or gimmick phone features which aren't special, new or not even properly usable on day to day basis and called it a day. But I'm not surprised, as my expectations were as low as seeing a theist trying to prove that bible is superior to science, because "it said so". What might appear as "dark" or "unappealing" to some, but for me the pictures on the pixel deliver a strong baseline to grow from while editing.. even simple instagram posts allow more flexibility with lighting effects and a punch as when required... Looks to me like the Pixel 4a has a tendency to a colder white balance than the iPhone, and also delivers flatter images. The images from the iPhone have darker blacks and it also looks like the iPhone heightens the lighter areas making sunshine look very pleasantly. Both phones over sharpens the images to my eyes, but that's probably just a smartphone thing. Overall I like the images from the iPhone better, and it's mainly because of the warmer tones and lighter and more punchy images.

Honestly the difference is so dismal that based on cameras alone there’s no reason to spend so much more for the iPhone. Even on the video test with the 4K on iPhone vs the 1080 on pixel I preferred the pixel look bc it wasn’t over saturating everything. Comes down to personal preference, but as someone who currently owns both an iPhone and the Pixel 3a the difference is almost unnoticeable to the average user or viewer of your posts on social media.

My God, the iPhone 12 is so consistently better with dynamic range, details and clarity. The 4a does have the better photo once in a while, but this the first time I have found the iPhone photos consistently better than pixel. But for half the price 4a is so much better value, the difference is negligible.

4a has the better photos man, it just does. Expected anyway, Google's HDR algorithm is still better than apple's. But for an overall phone, can't justify Pixel lineup anymore, they have just way too many problems due to poor QC.

I've had my Pixel 3a for a year and 8 months and it has been flawless. Battery life is still close to 2 days. I also like that it has 3 years of free updates and customer service.

@@worldforalll thats because the other competition has caught up you see back then when the pixel 2xl came out it crushed every phone in that year even in 2018 thats when Google had a big lead but since the 3 came out it still was the best but others were slowly closing the gap then finally in 2019 there was no longer a gap everyone was on par with the iphone 11 pro being rated thr best overall camera but for night shots these days i think samsumg is killing it super sharp details at night but sometimes the pixel may take a better pic or the iphone thats how close the competition is today
