The choice for me was simple, I have an iPhone 11 but have developed a want/need for a telephoto lens. I really like the 6.1” size and absolutely cannot/don’t want to carry a 6.7” phone in my pocket so it’s a 12 Pro for me.

@@nikolavonfulton5195 I went from the XS Max to the 11 and then the 11 Pro. I’ve pretty much always gone for the largest iPhone, but I really don’t miss anything on the smaller 11 Pro screen. A friend of mine is getting me an iPhone 12 for my birthday, and I personally don’t see any reason to want or need a pro. I already have a Sirui lens set with four lenses and a polarizing filter, which all work with a Moment case, so the extra camera isn’t a selling point for me. I’ve got three cameras on my iPhone 11 Pro, but 95% of the time, I end up using my main sensor, simply because that’s the best one. As for size: I found the 6.1” size the perfect medium between a large screen and good usability and the slightly smaller form factor of the iPhone 12 will only add to that. 6.7” seems nicer in theory, but in practice won’t do much to change your experience.

There's only so much that can be packed into a smaller body. If anything, a smaller phone with the same feature set should probably command a premium since it's more difficult from an engineering and design perspective. The iPhone 12 mini already has a much smaller battery to fit in the relatively tiny body (and it really is small - the smallest flagship-level phone in nearly a decade), and something like an extra camera would have required space that likely isn't there on the inside. The 12 mini should still have great specs and performance, with the only caveat being that the battery life won't be impressive like the larger models because the 5G and OLED display are equally demanding on a smaller battery.

I want my 12 Mini to ride “backpack style” on my 12 Pro Max... The 12 mini pops off to scout ahead, while 12 Pro Max holds fort... You know, sometimes the 12 mini is enough to get the job done, but then sometimes there’s no replacement for displacement, and you need that 12 Pro Max... maybe 12 Pro Max could charge its little buddy while in backpack mode... The dream would be to to have a 13 micro next year. ~4” edge to edge screen... for the ultimate backpacking, micro machine, transformers experience.

So i think I’ll upgrade to either 12 or Pro, and then use apples upgrade program to pay only half and then switch next year when they hopefully make a more substantial improvement, or keep this and pay it fully until they improve more. Then when they hit that substantial improvement that i’m looking for, I’ll get that and keep it for years.

Similar situation here. I‘m currently using an SE first gen and almost bought an 11 at the beginning of the year. When I heard all the rumors about how big the upgrade was going to be I decided to wait for the 12. I’m disappointed they don’t have pro motion since I like to keep my phone for 3+ years. I don’t mind the 60hz currently, but buying such an expensive phone now when probably every phone coming out by the end of next year will have 90/120hz is a bummer. Don’t know what to do, but my SE will fall apart in like the next month lol. I also love iOS so I don’t wanna switch to android

I miss my optical zoom when I got the 11, so I’m going for the pro. But why do they keep going for so thin that they need to bump out the cameras? If they made it that little bit thicker, couldn’t they use the extra internal space for a bigger battery? I think most people would be ok with a little thicker/heavier for another hour before recharging.

This is the best iPhone lineup I've seen from Apple. I'm not upgrading this year since I got myself a refurbished 512GB XS Max for $700 earlier this year-my 16gb 6s Plus needed to retire, and I'm saving the cash for the new iPad Air anyways. Now had I waited, I would go with the 256gb iPhone 12 in blue. Normally I'd go with a Pro model because, well, OLED, but those days are now behind us. The base models have everything I need. The Pro models are obviously better, but this year the Pros feel more like the base models with extras, rather than before when the base models felt like stripped down Pros. Not to say they weren't good phones, they clearly are, but I always felt like something was 'missing' from them. Now if I found $250 lying on the sidewalk, then we're going Pro. The Pacific Blue is playing mind games with me.

Mini has been growing on me! Battery life isn’t bad if you turn down the brightness. I keep mine at like 40% Dark mode I don’t use battery saving mode, oled doesn’t look as good when on.

Just ordered the Pro. Upgrading from Samsung S9+. Almost the same screen size but considerably smaller device body. 11 Pro's camera was years ahead of S9 already, so this cannot go south. Plus, I am finally getting an ultra-wide lens. I expect battery to be noticeably better, although be S9+ battery was still good after 2 years. All in all, I hope that £999 will give me an overall much better experience from a phone that still works great after 2 years. I also bought an Apple Watch SE along with the new phone. Always wanted one! S6 was £150 more than SE for the cellular, and for blood oxygen monitor, ecg and an always on display that drains the battery, I didn't feel like it was worth it :)

As a Tech enthusiast who currently has the iphone 8+ and would like to finally upgrade, should I upgrade to the 12 pro or 12 pro max. The 12 pro max is one that has my attention. The main reason I want that one is because after using my 8 plus, I cant see myself going to a smaller phone. I also like the camera upgrades it comes with as well. I want to get the pro max but the long wait time is lowkey annoying. Is there much of upgrade in size between the 8 plus and the smaller 12 pro (since im somewhat impatient). Does anyone know how much RAM each model has? Can’t say I’m terribly convinced either by the naming scheme or prices. The mini is in fact physically larger than the SE2. The SE2 is now the sole model exhibiting Apple’s modern “rounded” design whilst retaining an “old school” home button and conversely, all four 12s sport the historic square chamfered edges of the iPhone 4 and original SE but are faceID only. They should have ditched the mini and retro-styled the SE2 instead, it would have more than filled the gap in terms of sales revenue and they’d have saved a bunch on material and production costs. If there were ever a time when product lines need streamlining rather than saturating, that time is now.

@@BeckyBoopDeDoop remember that you still have digital zoom, that is lot better than before. So you are only missing a better zoomed portrait photo. I don’t use that feature enough to be a problem for me. I went from a 11 pro Max to the iPhone SE 2020. and all I really miss is Face ID, and a modern design (all screen), with a bit more features.

Is it normal for me to feel a bit disappointed? I feel like there is barely any difference between the Pro models and the regular models. @@imcomp2819 Im not him, but the 12 and the 12 pro will last pretty much the same amount of time, as they’re almost identical. If you really want the telephoto camera for portraits and a better camera system in general, and a brighter screen, go with Pro. But if you really don’t care about that, go with the 12, as the camera on the 12 is still amazing. It’ll definitely last you 4 years, probably even longer.

@@imcomp2819 get the 12 pro if you will keep a phone for 4 years you will need at least 128gb and when you spec the iphone 12 to 128gb the price difference becomes 120 usd so i think its worth spending the extra 120 on the pro.

Got the 3, 4, 5, 6+, 6s+ and X, all when they came out. Had an 11 pro for a week and took it back, no upside relative to the X. The new ones don’t seem to offer much either. I’ll keep my X, thankfully I bit the bullet 3 years ago when I bought it and got the 256GB.

Why don't you try something different. Why not try andriod. I had all though iphone to 7 then switched to samsung and oneplus. Both platforms have positives. Sitting on one platform for a decade gets dull

I went with iPhone 11 this year because I was immediately sensitive to the flicker of the PWM on the OLED display of the Pro. This is a real issue for a lot of people, and many may not even realize that OLED can cause excessive eye strain or headaches. I’m wondering if this has been remedied with the iPhone 12 display.

Last iPhone i had was the iPhone x and tbh I actually liked the smaller size for a change. I'm currently on a note 10 plus, the size has its positives. But in everyday use and for simple tasks its not ideal, thats whats making me think of the regular pro too. Only thing is the max camera improvements, but I'm hopeful I'm not missing too much by going regular.

Big fan of your videos. I have a small question about purchasing an iPhone. I currently have an iPhone X, and I am considering wanting to upgrade for multiple reasons. Including I have always wanted an iPhone with night mode and I am a bit obsessed with the new blue color. However, my current version plan does not include 5G in the plan (which I honestly don't care that much about), and I am not sure if I want to add it because it's 2020 and it is too new. Therefore, I was wondering if you know if I could purchase the phone in full from apple and just put in my Verizon sim card from my current iPhone without having to pay for 5G? Which would probably improve the battery life without the process of the phone going back and forth between 4G and 5G. If you don't currently know, please try and let me know once you receive the phones.

I have an 8+. I was going to go with the SE which is not a huge upgrade but certainly enough for me. The 12 Mini looks very intriguing but that phone is way smaller than you might realize. It makes the already small SE seem large in comparison. So with that, I think I will go with the straight-up 12. It’s smaller than my 8+ (which is what I want) and is more pocketable and one hand-able. Seeing that big guy with the big hands holding the 12 Mini was comical. Way too small for me - but dang, I still want one. To be continued....

LexaGamer 999 maybe in your opinion. Just having an added telephoto lens is worth the $150 upgrade from a 12 IMO. Also having a bigger storage option, LiDAR, not to mention a much better finish (stainless) IMO. Ever wonder why the Apple Watch in stainless is almost double the cost of the aluminum? Because yeah, stainless. I myself think the form factor of the Pro Max is just a little too big physically. It’s not about price, $100 doesn’t break the bank when you’re over a grand. Honestly I think it’s a great mix between 12 (form factor) and Pro Max (features and finish) and quite genius.
