I got the iPhone 13 mini two days ago as an upgrade from my previous iPhone xs. I used to change my phone quite frequently, but when I bought my new iPhone 13 mini, I felt like I didn’t want to buy any phone again because, for me, this phone is the most perfect in all aspects, and I guess this could be the reason why Apple doesn’t want to continue creating a small flagship iPhone again, because people who buy such a small and powerful iPhone like this could probably not buy any future iPhones anymore. The iPhone 13 mini is ideal! The only downside is the back-glass because I think it would be better if it was made from aluminum just like the 1st generation iPhone SE.

There are times where I do wish I have a 13 Pro because a lot of the advantages it has over the 13 mini that I have are noticeable to me and ones that I appreciate like the 120 hz, the better battery, and better camera features like the macro mode. But I’m the type of person who likes to use their phone with one hand a lot of the time and the 13 mini is the only new phone in the market today that I can do that comfortably. So I’m definitely going to stick with my 13 mini for now, and I’ll likely keep it for the next several years. Unlike with previous iPhones that I kept for about 3 years, I’m just gonna keep this 13 mini until it no longer gets software updates. I just love the form factor so much for my needs. That said, I understand your reasoning for going to the 13 Pro over the mini. People just have different priorities.

I literally sold my 13 Pro last week to get the 13 Mini. 120hz was cool but honestly I don’t miss it because I can barely tell the difference. As for the cameras, I couldn’t take advantage of it because I don’t have social media and I barely take pictures. For the battery life, I’m barely on my phone now and I feel free; besides I have a 20w charger so I’m at 100% in less than 20 minutes. You’re not missing out on much.

@@leospeeds500 That’s true! I have iPhone 13 regular and I think that the mini is good too. I watched a review about the mini and they barely last a whole day with heavy use but with 20w charger you can literally have it full charged in like 30mins

I believe one of the reasons the iPhone minis have bad sales or at least in my country (outside US) is because the price difference in the mini and the regular is not that huge. For example here, when you look at Apple authorized resellers the gap is barely 50usd. So you gotta at least really want the mini to justify choosing it over the regular sized one. And don’t really know why that is the case for pricing, but I see a lot of discounts or promos for iPhone 13 and not for mini. That makes the 13 more affordable but the mini so close in pricing. That’s just my observation.
@MichaelAlderete

I get and agree with most of what you had to say here, except the “I need a case” part. I’ve been really liking the hand feel of my case-less iPhone 13 mini, to the point where I’m considering not just last year’s decision to leave the Pro line, but to not buy a new iPhone _this_ year, if there’s no mini size. I’ve bought “the best” iPhone every year since they were introduced. Leaving the Pro line last year was a step down. And now I’m considering stepping OFF entirely. That’s how much I love the hand feel of the smaller size.

@@Miguel-ve1lh I've never found a case I genuinely like, for any of the iPhone models. I'm pretty careful, and I always used them without a case ... until the iPhone X. It slipped out of my pants pocket twice while getting out of a cab/Lyft, and the second time cracked the back. Into a case it went, and so did the next two years of iPhone models (the ones with the rounded edges, XS and 11). With the current design (12/13), with harder, more squared off edges, the sliding-out-of-my-pants-pockets problem seems to have gone away. (Also, I rarely leave the house these days...) So, back to caseless I have gone. People who tend to drop their phones should definitely put them into a case. But outside the iPhone X-style rounded edges, I can count the number of times I've dropped my phone on one hand.
@Bendaak
@Bendaak 2 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelAlderete I don’t want the anxiety of worrying about dropping a case-less phone and the last thing I need is a chipped or cracked expensive phone that looks like crap. Accidents happen and if you use a naked phone for over a year, it WILL show damage… whether serious or superificial. I went a little overboard with an Otterbox Defender, which is like an armoured shell, for my iPhone 12 Mini which I have dropped hundreds of times with the phone still looking as good as new. I have decided to purchase the official stylish Apple Cyprus Green silicon case seeing as the phone is around a year and a half old now so I guess I can take more risks with it 😂.

I use mine caseless too !! I feel the squared design fits the mini better, instead of the bigger phones. Ive bought several cases for my phone and they make it feel bulky and heavier. Theyve all been stored away ! I was a 12 pro max user before, never again. Big ass phone, heavy and even bulkier with a case ! also it messed up my wrist / forearm. Now when my daughter shows me something on her 11 it looks so massive😂

I had the 11 and did not like the size, so I upgraded to the 12 mini. Over time, the battery life started to irk me, so I upgraded to the 13 and much to my surprise, the 13 feels so much better in my hands than the 11 did. The smaller oled side bezels and flat sides really made enough difference for me. The 13 6.1 is the max size I’d ever want a phone. At least I know never to get a max.

Hey man, what you did was absolutely correct. I've been using the 13Pro for a couple of months now and the battery life is just damn amazing! I'm a moderate user and I get a battery life of some where between 13-27 hours. I've previously used the 5S, 6S, SE and compared to them, this is a huge leap for Apple. An extra hour of battery life is always beneficial!

I loved the 12 mini. I never thought of going back since they ended the 5"8 pro models. Once picked up the 13 pro.. I quickly changed my mind esp.. with a case on the 12 mini. The battery life was rough even with a mag safe battery pack (hated to carry around & added bulk). It's an awesome size and makes it a mighty little powerhouse just needs to be the new SE in a few years with improved battery life and Im sure it would sell to apple standards again one day.

yeah it's one of those super luxury features. I understand on a desktop when you're on it all day (or gaming), but on a phone? no thanks. Guys let me tell you something. The 120hz is the most unnecessary feature on a smartphone. Sure you'll notice it at best for a month. After that you'll completely forget about it. For a laptop or tablet its definitely good owing to the larger screen size and the pencil input. And as someone who uses the main camera 98% of the time the other two cameras are just a rare necessity. Sure if the price difference was negligible it was alright, but that's not the case. So i don't see why the non pros are overlooked. Functionality of both the pros and non pros are 99% identical. It's really hard to justify that 1% with that big of a price gap.

Great thoughts. I feel your disappointment. Apple has a way of leaving out features on the lower-end models that almost forces you to purchase a Pro model instead. You could argue that 120Hz or a third camera are not important but for some people it is. From the perspective of Apple, it’s purely a business tactic. Back in 2015 when I purchased an iPhone 6s, I opted for the Plus model because of the 1080p screen and OIS on the rear camera. Apple could have easily added those same features to the regular 6s. I could have still chosen between two models with the only difference to influence my purchase being the physical size of the phone. At the end of the day, Apple is a business and as such, they want our money. All of the propaganda regarding their commitment to the environment or ensuring their business partners overseas are not overworking their employees is exactly just that, propaganda.

But I agree, 13 mini with 120hz would have been extra amazing. you didn't talk about weight. It makes such a huge difference. The 13 pro is getting really heavy. I'm actually thinking of getting the 13 mini for the weight alone. The 13 pro is almost 50% heavier than the 13 mini.

Good vid Jerry! Definitely the iPhone 13 Pro is the sweet spot in all the actual iPhone 13 Lineup, I had the iPhone 13 Pro and really enjoyed it a lot, perfect size, perfect display, perfect everything, but I was wondering about about all the greatness of having a bigger display and a massive battery. I love the display of the 13 Pro Max, that’s true, but I really hate the weight of the phone, its a real pain to use it one handed, when I’m using my phone and viewing some tutorial while i need to have the phone in one hand and the other hand free its really terrible! I’m a big handed guy but after some minutes seeing a video I feel how my wrist just starts to ache. I really miss my iPhone 13 Pro, IMO its the best one in this iPhone Lineup. I really miss using my iPhone 13 Pro with one hand, some say its just a little difference in weight, but when I’m using it everyday, I really feel the difference, I wish I could go back to the 13 Pro but at this point, selling my 13 Pro Max or trade it in a store will result in a massive money loss, specially because all the cases that I already bought haha, so I’ll have to stick with it until the next iPhone Lineup sadly :(

Omg. Everything you said -So true!! 13 lineup is great, but that Dargon 13 pro mask started giving me carpal tunnel. Lol. I had to purchase a 13 mini two months in. Now I’m stuck with two phones which I don’t really mind. But I really think Apple has to learn a lesson from this. Technology has come too far for them not to address the issue of creating better batteries that are smaller. Because everyone’s going to have carpal tunnel. It’s all over the Internet! These massive phones are bad for us

I had the older SE and I thought that I would get the 13 Mini because I couldn’t imagine giving up my smaller form factor where I could easily grip it and use it with one hand. But after using the 13 Pro for a couple of months, I couldn’t imagine going back to a smaller display with less battery life, less powerful speakers, 60hz refresh, etc. After a few days or a week, we can get used to a different form factor.

It makes me so sad that Apple has decided to drop the mini line. What a great phone for those of us who don't want to lug around big heavy phones and so much better in every way than the new SE. Well, Apple has brought back discontinued products in the past...maybe they will do so with the mini some day. Really hoping the SE of the future turns into a mini form factor. BTW Jerry, you could have gone for a much thinner case or used a skin and that would have left you with a much less slippery phone that still allows for one handed use. I have an ultra thin carbon fiber case on mine and I love it.

Pitaka air case .5mm thinnest of all cases. You won’t know it’s there. Blocks MagSafe but worth it for me. Pitaka has a version that includes magsafe, but it is 1mm thick and noticeable in the hand for the same reason that a regular case ruined the size of the mini, because apple made it JUST so close to that limit of it being small enough for one handed. Disclosure: I actually use magnets for mounting religiously, and the pitaka air (non magsafe) allows me to put the "plate" inside the case for a super firm hold on magnet mounts. Wish I could charge magsafe but it's a worthy tradeoff since the magsafe magnet experience is so mediocre compared to a proper plate setup.

There’s not too many reason not to go with the 13 Pro Max 256 GB. It’s pretty much future proof for the next 5 years until they make 4K resolution screens.. It can take 4K video at 60 fps with the telephoto lenses which eliminates the need for a separate camera altogether. The 120 HZ pro motion display is the future , I can’t go back to a 60 hz screen after using this. On top of all this , The speakers are much louder than the iPhone 11 speakers , I got a bigger screen , more storage and better battery life.

I understand the appeal of a potential Iphone Pro Mini, but people need to realize that miniaturization is not easy, nor is it free. The third camera would require more real estate. The 120hz display would require a bigger battery, which would add more bulk. If Apple were ever to achieve something like this in the same form factor, it would increase the price tag like crazy (could even be more expensive than a regular pro) and they clearly sell the mini as a midrange product.

I used my s21+ as my main phone with 13 mini with MagSafe wallet attached to it everytime I go out/work. For me the Wallet is perfect for the mini because it shifts the centre of mass directly toward your palm, making it sl much easier to hold with 1 hand. I think the mini is perfect for a secondary phone. Otherwise, choosing 13/the pros makes more sense as primary phones.

the mini is actually a nice size, only if I was a bit thicker, no camera bumb, thicker battery, it may also benefit the sound, the one size larger does not fit in your pocket so you should have a hip bag or something wear it as an option, so you could almost go for the max as you have to transport both sizes with a bag anyway, but those prices are also right there, then you better be able to get the 14 wait and see, the expectation is that it will get a mini USB and that it will be released from that extended camera and that it will generally become a bit thicker, so that even a thicker battery will fit and the iPhone would finally be more finished

I don't mind the size, I like it for the benefit of the screen and battery. Unless you can't stand a big phone or don't want to spend that much money (both reasonable decisions) its the way to go. My reasoning is to keep the 13 Mini as a small phone when I don't really need my phone and want less bulk and weight. Since there wont be a new Mini I will keep it as long as possible as a backup. I will probably upgrade to the 14 or 15 Pro in the future and then have 2 phones. I just really need the 3rd lense. The Pro then for heavy use and the mini for when I just need to be reachable.
