The camera on my 14 pro max especially x1 48mp for cropping is amazing. Keeping the 14 pro max until they come out with a true telephoto lens like the rumored 300mm optical lens

This is the review I’ve been waiting for. I got the last Intel based MBP with 64gb of Ram and I was never happy with the speed. I think the GPU was the bottleneck for photo editing. I just hate waiting for my edits to render properly on the screen. I think a new MBP with M4 Pro will be in my near future.

I've been looking for a powered Thunderbolt dock with only USB-C-type connectors for years. Instead, there are still all (maybe 1000s) of them occupied with Jurassic USB A. Is there at least one in the market that features USB-C ports only (or mostly)? At least three or four USB-C. Would you happen to have any idea?

Great test! What I miss is connect these laptops to an external display to see how fast/slow these ones are when doing that.

The S9 is like $700 now while the Studio Display is... still pretty much the same price as it was a year ago. I imagine that would have changed the review's conclusion quite a bit.

I would use this for large media files captured on iphone 16 pro max in 4k 120 fps using apples Pro Res HDR where 18 minutes of footage could take up to 270ish gb. But, unfortunately.. the drive not sustaining the fast speed is very dumb so this a waste of money and a gimmick...

Appreciate any Thoughts. Ive been watching your videos on setting a Mackbook Pro and id like to Migrate my "guest" information from and Older Mac 2012 which has Thunderbolt 1 but Im wondering if a Thunderbolt 5 Cable from Cable Matters is backwards enough and worth the investment to do the job?

i have a workstation and a mac studio so I figured I don't really need to run anything crazy on my laptop. The only issue has been the battery. I can verify the battery deplates super fast and the battery life of newer ones are just amazing. Still, I doubt if it would justify paying more than 2K just for the battery life

I went through the exact same decision making process. I had the 16" MacBook Pro with the Core i7, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. I upgraded to the 14" MacBook Pro with M4, 16 GB RAM, 1TB SSD and Nano Texture. I had the same concerns about OS updates for my old 16" MacBook. I wanted to go back to a more portable model, more battery life, MagSafe charging, and the additional ports. I will say I am so happy I made the change. I didn't need M4 Pro or M4 Max for what I do (working in Office 365 and some basic photo editing). The battery life has been such an eye opener for me. I do notice the the fans do not turn on as much on the new MacBook and does stay cooler for me. Also, I love the Nano Texture display. I've always hated gloss displays as I work from home in an office with a lot of natural light. So this does help with visibility for me. Not that I really needed validation for my choice, I am glad to see you create this video, it does make feel better about my choice!

Got a 2020 13" i5 MBP. Why am I not buying a new one? 1. Simple economics: No $$. 2. My current machine's doing everything I want it to do quite well, with no signs of aging. 3. After what Apple did with Parler a few years ago, I do not see myself buying anything new and directly from Apple, ever again.

The M1 with 16GB RAM and 500GB storage works well for me. I bought it second-hand for £599, but it has some issues that can't all be fixed. Battery health is at 97%, now 95%. It's decent considering it was only charged 170 times (plus 10 more from my changing). The charger is the original, not a replacement, but it has a minor issue with the Apple logo. It's a 61W charger, slower than my previous gaming laptop's 240W charger, but still lasts me half a day. The M1 MacBook gives me over 10 hours of battery life with basic tasks, while the gaming laptop only lasts 2 hours. Despite its APU GPU, it lags badly. The M1 outperforms it for basic tasks. For gaming: Minecraft runs slower on the M1 but still performs better without third-party help, unlike my MSI laptop that needs assistance. Sims 4 runs at a steady 60fps on the M1, dropping to 34fps during big loads. My gaming laptop struggles to maintain stable fps, often dipping below 30fps. In general, the M1 holds steady at 45-112fps, while my gaming laptop fluctuates wildly and has to be recharged frequently. The M1 is slower in some areas but still beats my gaming laptop for everyday use and gaming tasks which i know is limited at least is Works that the problem with gaming laptop i given away ---------------------------------------------------------- Reaches 29c when powering on when doing nothing for 40 mins is reaches 42-45c that just doing nothing Opens apps like powerpoint until is fully open MacBook at 35c that barly noiceable to me as it feel like i just powered it on and not been on it yet 2 hours doing nothing i used the media center K___ to view it and seen the No Fans active M1 and yes is the Macbook Pro not the Air model i hear the fans kick on GPU at 95f or 35c CPU at 85f or 29c Which i used on the gaming laptop too - Fans on all the time ( I turned them off GPU 110f or 43 c - Fans on / GPU 111f or 43.3c CPU 90f or 32c - fans on / CPU 109f or 42 - Fans off Unless is not showing right

Not to be a pedant, but that's a base model 2019 16" Macbook Pro. I did the same test on my high spec 2019 16" MBP, with the 8 core i9 CPU and 32GB RAM, and the multi-core score on Geekbench was 6,746 points. Also almost all of the larger 15 and 16 inch Intel macbooks all had dedicated GPU's...only the base models had integrated graphics only.

Conclusion : Apple magic keyboard is pretty much a stand, where as the Logitech is a case with a keyboard that turns it into a laptop. If I was to buy a iPad I'd definitely go with the Logitech.

5:23 it lasted 8 seconds so the drive should have about 80GB of fast cache, then the internal SSD write speed is only 1.9 GB/s , tbh I think that’s a bit of a con from the makers of the external drive .
@andyabajoКүн бұрын
Hahaha, the thunderbolt 5 version has even lower cache size because is began throttling down from 5.35GBps to 1.76GBp at 50GB file transfer. Welp, thanks for testing this. What a cash grab from OWC. Disgusting

@JerrySchulzeКүн бұрын
They are apfs. The issue is the cache. Running Blackmagic test and then running the file test without enough time for the cache to clear.

It will make sense to buy a TB5 enclosure (once available) for M4 Pro with 512GB ? Since the speeds are around 4K write and 3K read if I remember correctly, so I won’t take full advantage of of the TB5 capability…

Thanks for the video! I agree with your conclusions on ergonomics. I found the Backbone tricky to play because of the button and stick placement. Apple Arcade games play fine on the Backbone but XBOX games play better on the XBOX controller.

This sucks :( how much does TB5 drive cost, compared to your TB3 drive?
@okuhtttf2 күн бұрын
Cool test and makes sense to be honest. The copying of large files needs write and read simultaneously so the drive needs to read the content and write the content in a loop. But how is it when you do normal workflow like let's say you keep the drive plugged in and have your large files on it and do normal video editing? doesn't this help improve some speed? I know this is a strange ask but is it possible for you to test how fast large files from and iPhone 16 pro to the drive is directly vs the iPhone plugged in and you transferring files from the iPhone to the drive via the Mac and from the drive to the iPhone via the Mac? would be cool to see what the usb-c capabilities of the iPhone 16 pro is
