I’m about 4 months into my first iPhone (13 Pro Max) and I’d agree with pretty much everything you’ve said. The three main things making me think I’ll stick it out for the full two years are battery, flat screen and cameras! I do still prefer Android as an OS though, and if the Pixel 7 Pro can even come close to the 13 Pro Max battery life I think I’d switch back.

Well I think I'm convinced to make the switch. I have been a Samsung user since 2010 with their Reality phone that slide open to reveal the keyboard but fast forward to now and the s22 doesn't speak to me. I never thought I would go this route but the improvements in so many areas plus the great battery life has me sold. I feel like a fair amount of android users have the same mindset right now.

Having used 120 Hz on my OP 8T, I really want Apple to introduce at least 90Hz on the non-pro models in iphone 14 series. But knowing apple and how they milk their products (iphone SE 2022 being the latest example) getting 90Hz is highly unlikely.
@liviurosca2 жыл бұрын
I swich from OP7 Pro with 90 Hz with animations at 0.5x to iPhone 13 Pro. The iPhone feel a little bit slower because animations in iOS 15, maybe next iOS will be “faster”.

The biggest issues I have had with the newer iPhones have been the following: 1) Compared to the previous ego round design, the newer design actually hurts to hold in the hand unless I use a case. 2) #1 issue for me tbh. Cannot change group names in the messaging app if there is at least one Android user in the group. I strongly dislike that Apple is still playing this game of colors and discrimination with Android users. Its super easy for them to code an alternate title when and Android user is present in a group chat. The problem is that they don't want you to include them because it downgrades the experience with their features. 3) Gallery app UI on iOS is such garbage and hasn't evolved at all since its conception. 4) UI design and navigation consistency seems to be an issue no one talks about at all. But every time I've owned an iPhone its always frustrating to reach all the way to the top left corner to do a back action, and then in some apps it might not exist or might be found somewhere else.
@KBTjames2 жыл бұрын
For the last point just swipe from the left edge to go back
@Agitated_Hamster2 жыл бұрын
@Aritra :) Its nice to have a UI experience that is smooth, however I'm mostly referring to the UI itself. To be fair, I haven't used an iPhone since the iPhone 12 Max came out, and I got rid of it within a month out of frustration. I do have an iPad Pro (which I love), and the gallery app on that seems to me okay. Generally I am the sort of person that likes to manage his files and organize them on the phone, cloud and PC. So I separate my files according to their types. On iOS the problem is like most other gallery apps, the "gallery app" standard concept has not evolved over time. Like...:what is gallery", "what goes in the gallery", "are there different types of things in the gallery app", "and why does everything in the gallery app seem bundled together and given the same sort of UI visual experience". For example, I have multiple folders in my phone with different types of photos, family photos, scenic photos, wallpapers, manga, comics, art, tutorials, videos, etc. So, the current standard concept of a "gallery app" means that all of these files/images need to be viewed in the same way, I disagree. Its the same problem with Google's Photos cloud app, Google assumes that every file is a photo I've taken on my phone and the UI try's to identify people in those photos, even though they might be artwork or comics. The UI not smart enough to know the difference between types of images and how to correctly separate and view them since different types of images need to be viewed in different ways. If the gallery experience evolved I would argue that more people would use it more often or have a better experience using and finding things they needed or wanted. I think that is the reason why a lot of gallery apps started to introduce the whole "memories" concept. But rather then reimagining the gallery app as a whole, most just plugged it in as a feature. Most people don't care, so companies like Apple have or see no reason to change it.

@andyH_England2 жыл бұрын
I assume Apple or YT (Google developer) thinks that if you want to use your camera you won’t want PiP blocking some of your screen, or settings? Likely you want to take a quick snap and iOS pushes the PiP to the side and gives you full screen for the camera. I think Apple feels that a 6-inch screen is really one app at a time whereas Android gives you more options to get squished apps. Even though I have used Android and iOS for a decade side by side I never use split screen or even PiP as they are just not an enjoyable experience. Each to their own and def Android if you want split screen.

I went from Galaxy S21 Ultra to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Had the S20 before that and the Note 8, 5, 4, and 3 before that. The battery life on this iPhone is insane and have never seen anything like this on Android. The camera is very good and consistent. I feel that the S21 was just as good with Expert Raw (but more flexible) with the exception of shutter speed and video. Android updates are an absolute mess. Just go to the Reddit for the S21 Ultra and see how many are on different security updates, some several months behind depending on the region. And consistently waiting on the carrier to push out an update, not priceless. The fact that my iPhone will get 6-7 years of OS updates and most flagship Androids get 2-3 years tells you all you need to know about this category. This was the main reason why I switched. I do miss having more customization and the super fast speed charging and, if I ever go back to Android, iPhones hold their resell value significantly more then Androids and so there is that.

I disagree with the conclusions. I'm long past all the customizations Android has to offer (including custom roms), don't even care about home screen modifications (which Sam does very much care for). Yet for me iOS absolutely gets in a way, many, many times in a day. iPhone is a toy with limited capabilities - unless all you aim to do is to quickly launch a couple of apps throughout a day, then it's fine. Terrible inconsistency when it comes to system level navigation (back), inconsistent and ugly UI (absolutely not cohesive, half of the apps are ugly late-2000 web wrappers ebay/amazon wall of text style, some are skeuomorphic style, some with frosted glass, some are good), notification system is atrocious, pseudo-default apps, bad keyboard experience, no real multitasking, or even such nuances like linked ringer and alarm volume or no custom sounds (out of itune$$).

No matter how hard you try to defend productivity on phone you just cant. A phone is ment for quick things, consuming fast media and light productivity like emails.
