Nice work Dion! I am an electrochemist, in "Best Way To Charge" section, charging with low watt charger does not improve the health, rather it destroy it, the best way to charge the battery is to charge with optimized charger.

Any examples of such?
@welshe2224 ай бұрын
@@-KineZ. Yes, the examples are as following, do not go below 10% battery life, and avoid over-charging when its 99%. There is no other way to fix this, android & possibly ios have implemented "night charging" which tries to predict when your phone is at 100% to stop damaging the battery, but if you are constantly running below 10% then you are damaging the battery by your usage (: , fast or slow charging won't effect this

Hey dude, I’m not sure if you did it or if KZbin is doing you dirty, but there was so many adverts during that upload, it really was a pain to watch. If you’ve done that yourself, I please beg you to not do that again, it was way too often, and I genuinely enjoyed your content with that many steps in between segments. It would mean I would avoid your consent going forward. Obviously I’m just one person, but I can imagine that would be a universal truth. @mutlsam11 ай бұрын
@mutlsam I recently swapped to Apple from years of Samsung experience. One thing I really loved about Samsung as someone who’s so clingy and sensitive about battery health was that Samsung had an option called Protect Battery which would basically limit the charging to 85%. Before switching to Apple, I also saw they’ve brought it to the iPhones as 80% limit with iOS 17. Though, because of budgeting, I bought an iPhone 12 and apparently it doesn’t have the option to limit the charging. So I’m having second thoughts about this device. Afterall, my essential reason to buy an iPhone was because I recently owned a Mac.
@Brian-wp9er11 ай бұрын
These battery limits don’t actually preserve battery life. This misconception is based on the idea that charging your phone to 100% completes a cycle and causes battery degradation, but that’s not how it works. A battery cycle completes when 100% of the battery has been charged, not when the battery has been charged to 100%. There’s a difference.
@justyouraverageraccoon824810 ай бұрын
My iPhone 8 can do it, are you sure?
@louisgreschner235910 ай бұрын
@@Brian-wp9er Charging multiple times from 60% - 80% is no different than charging once from 30% - 100% in terms of battery cycles, that's true. However, charging cycles is not the reason for limiting the charge: Li-Ion batteries have essentially three factors that severely hurt battery health: Heat, time spent at maximum or minimum charge, and overcharging. Heat is regulated by limiting the charging speeds as well as performance, time spent at either extreme is limited by placing the 0 and 100% marks well within range, meaning the batterie is physically never fully charged or discharged (at the cost of capacity actually available to use), and overcharging is regulated by using smart charging protocols. However, even with all the precautions, the close you get to 100%, the more heat inevitably you're gonna generate, and as long as the phone is powered on, it will draw power and will therefor quickly draw current from the cable if it is connected. So if you leave your phone plugged in, you're gonna have a mild vesion of all 3 death sentences at the same time. One way to counter this is to stop charging closer to 80%, and charge until 100% a lot slower, and only just before you unplug. This limits heat generated, as well as shortening the time spent at 100% and the time it keeps drawing power at 100%. This is what optimized charging does. However, if you then go on to not use your phone for the first 8 hours, it's gonna spend a lot of time at 100% regardless, and since you didn't even use it, it was unnecessary. In that case, simply never even charging to 100% would have been more gentle on the battery, which is what the 80% limit does. Another usecase would be for maintained usage while plugged in. So for example, a demo device, or a phone that's in constant use, like as a navigation device, needs to be powered during use, which is already not ideal. Charging and using generates heat, doing both at the same time generates even more heat. And charging a hot battery is degrading it even faster than just being hot. So limiting the charge to 80% means at least the battery is not in the critical zone where it generates the most heat and degrades the fastest due to holding close to maximum charge. It's not gonna change the fact that you're using while charging, but doing that at a steady 80% is a lot better than at a constant 100%. In general the closer the battery is to 50% the better for its longevity. That's why long time storage of Li-Ion batteries should be done at 50%-60%
