My biggest fear with all these companies, Freewell, Shiftcam etc, once you have a kit like the one shown on this video, you are well in excess of £1000, then when you upgrade your phone there is no guarantee the company will still be around to make a new case for the new phone, or the lenses will be correctly made to match the lens Apple have put into the camera. If I am going to spend this HUGE sum of money on a load of lenses, I want to know they are future proofed and supported. I have emailed these companies and they will not guarantee the lenses will be supported with future iPhones. So it’s a no from me sadly, but love the idea and results.

Very cinematic footage in this video. For me, I prefer 1.33 for anamorphic filming. It is more natural. To me, when you start going towards 1.55 and above, it makes me think I'm looking through a mail slot. That's just me. For the anamorphic flares, I prefer gold because it seems like a more natural color one would expect in most environments. The blue flare can be distracting as it often stands out more then the rest of the image. Anyway, great work.

I was ready to get one of those, but when you mentioned that I can't use stabilization and must have a gimbal, that is definitely a dealbreaker for me. I would love seeing an example of how the footage might suffer without a gimbal. I believe the beauty of filming with an iPhone lies in its simplicity. If I need to attach 500 pieces, then we can just opt for a regular camera

I totally get your concern about the stabilization, but I've found that using this system handheld is still very doable with minimal shake. I brought it on a trip specifically to avoid carrying around a big camera, and the footage turned out great. All the shots with the mountains in the middle of this video were captured using this system handheld, and I'm pretty impressed with the results!

The free will case leaves a lot to be desired. The buttons are easy to push by mistake and I find it very awkward to use it for the IPhone when I’m not using it as a lens mount.

i think this probably the best system for smartphone filmmaking. but 1 thing i notice is that if you buy the lenses, it will not compatible with VND, cause it will use just normal ND. Let me know if im wrong, or maybe freewell will take note of this (maybe hehe)

Definitely gold and 1.33x. 1.33x looks more natural not exagerated, and gold is just more beautiful like warm white light lightbulb rather then bluish white light lightbulb.

I do a lot of livestreams and my issue with recording is when I am travelling on a train early evening and the sun is going down, the reflection is strong and the camera captures me in the reflection. I am looking for a polarize lens, would the lens in your video work for what I am looking for? I come across more review tutorials for just prerecorded and stilled photos, it would be nice to see how it works for livestreams. Thanks for this video to how the lens work!

I love the 1.33 Anamorphic but I'm not a fan of the LENS FLARE. I have yet find an Anamorphic lens for the iphone that gives a beautiful "soft" lens flare. Many of them are too harsh, very curvy, unbalances versus straight! If anyone knows a real good one please tag me. Thank you.

Nice content. I notice in all your example footage with the lenses attached, the video is stuttering. I see this with a lot of content on KZbin. In my experience, that usually happens if the original footage is not conformed correctly on the editing timeline. For example, you might shoot at 30fps and then play it on a 24fps timeline. This leads to skipped frames if it’s not slowed down properly. Anyway, no big deal but it was a distraction in your otherwise very nice footage.

I could never use any of these lenses on my iPhone because it softens the image and causes loss of detail. I can see this in your footage. I only use the variable nd filter for exposure control. You can't put too much glass on top of camera phone sensors if you want to retain high fidelity.

In my experience, I've found that these anamorphic lenses, paired with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, deliver a sharp and crisp image quality. I just played the intro from this vid on a big monitor and its crispy crisp, make sure you watch in 4k. The wider lens does have less bokeh for obvious reasons that may affect ones perception, but overall I do not agree that the image is soft

@@StevenDivishyea, I can see the loss in sharpness and contrast, especially across the edges. I bought the sherpa kit but just the variable ND. This is the only single piece of glass I would put in front of it. I also moved away from the black magic app because you have no bitrate control and moved to another one that gives better image quality and bitrate selection.

The Freewell filters have a major flaw. They add a brownish hue to the image center when using the VND´s at max stop. Useless in my eyes. It´s very visible when pointing the camera at a green surface like grass for example.

No, I think the case supports only Pro/Pro Max versions of 13-15th iphones. But you can write them an email if they can come up with some universal mount for different phones who knows!
