Did my «big upgrade» earlier this year from the iPhone X to the 15 Pro Max and that really was a game changer indeed, especially since I started my channel late last year with the X and am now filming with the 15 pro max using my X as a «b-cam» - and I’m kind of glad I did cause the 16 doesn’t really tempt me that much - I did however set the blackmagic camera app to open up when double tapping the back of the phone, using shortcuts, so double tap opens the app with initial settings for indoor shooting in my workshop, and triple tapping opens the app with my general «outdoor shooting» settings which I can quickly adjust with white balance and shutter speed depending on light and sun, those two shortcuts have turned out to be very helpful, since when making a shortcut you can choose which camera settings you want the blackmagic camera app to open up with :)

I only got the iPhone 16 Pro Max coming from a 12 Pro Max just because of this longevity. I wanna upgrade for another 4-6 years. I’m not a pro user. The only reason I got it was for the battery and heat efficiency and also Apple Intelligence. These are the main three things. I got this iPhone 16 Pro Max for.

I’m with you, I still love my 14 pro. I was seriously considering an upgrade this past weekend while I was adding a line to my account for a family member, but when I had about half an hour to spend with the 16 pro max just goofing about a bit I wasn’t at all impressed enough to justify an upgrade. For practically the price of a used fx30 body (when buying over time from then carrier) the value proposition just isn’t there for me. Add to that, the trade in options in the US for my carrier are nowhere near as good as they used to be, and I think I’ll be waiting for a future iteration.

I had the 14 pro max with zero intention of upgrading until the iPhone 20. Cause I hate upgrading every 3-4 years. I really like pushing phones, but it recently got stolen… not lost, but stolen at a gas station. And I made the unbearable mistake of not having any time of find my enabled… so I be some SOL. I’m testing the 16 base and my carpel tunnel is thanking me but the battery is not enough for me.

Personally, the biggest difference is shooting in Apple Log, and being able to not have any smartphone processing in your videos. it makes footage look much better.

Using 18.2, the camera button was clearly always made for Siri Visual Intelligence. Having the option to launch it any time and get more info on whatever I’m looking at is so much more useful than goofy camera gimmicks.

My mainstay is Photography versus Video and Motion Pictures. I will dig into this iPhone to determine whether or not there are any gains from it in terms of photo. I feel like the camera button is a gimmick. I bought 2 cases for my Pro Max. One is Apple’s official case with the sapphire piece for camera control. One is the ESR case with the cutout and a vertical kickstand on the back (still MagSafe compatible) I have tried to remember, but never ever instinctively used the camera button to shoot anything as a quick shot. And I always take the official Apple case off and go back to the ESR within minutes - because I kept triggering camera control. The ESR has a contour which makes picking up the phone by the camera button amazing. Like a grip. And I don’t trigger the button. I doubt Apple would ever make the camera control a 2nd action button (I really like that my action button is still the mute toggle) - if they did allow it to be a 2nd action button I think it’d be better to be honest.

The “half press to focus or lock focus/exposure” was announced as something that would be “coming later this fall”. Although I think it would have been a big plus for Apple if they’d enabled or added the software for it at launch. It’s not a bad phone, but not having all the hyped features at release or locking software features they release to a specific region/language is not the smartest move by Apple.

So what I took from this video is that you don’t like the camera button, or the placement because when you put it in your pocket or you pick it up, you press it. Or you don’t think it’s responsible enough for day-to-day camera features. But you do like the 120fps 4K and you also say that you like it for work purposes. So you regret it just because the button makes no sense .. HERE IS THE SOLUTION: All you gotta do is cover the button with some GAFFERS TAPE or put it in a case and cover the button with TAPE. and there you go you’ll never press the button again. (or perhaps there is a option to disable it.)

I feel like the main iPhone camera (the so called 1x lens) has been getting worse with new iPhones. The focusing distance is so long that you can’t really capture most of so called object or product shots with the main camera. What the iphone does instead it switches to the cropped wide angle picture (without telling the user but you can easily notice) and picture quality takes a nosedive. I wish they would solve this issue somehow, it’s my biggest gripe with modern iPhones. I think this issue was there in my 13 Pro and is still there on my current 15 Pro.

I've never experienced this myself. What i have noticed though is that it switches to macro mode when getting too close.

@@PeterLindgren1well I think ”macro mode” is the ultrawide lens but cropped. Just try covering the 1x lense with your finger and see how the camera app automatically switches to the ultrawide. The ultrawide lens on the iphone has a very short minimum focus distance, so that’s what is used in closeups and macros.

thought it was a bit overrated considering that al functions do not work in Sweden. Now that you see how to use it, it feels a bit clumsy. However, I only have an iPhone 13 pro +, I had upgraded but it does not work as intended in Sweden. But easily take an Action camera as a spare camera.

There’s on a $100 difference between the 2. The 15’s were a great upgrade last year and the 16’s just improve off of that. I dont know say get the 16 for the battery life, camera, and performance improvements. Plus you get Apple Intelligence on the base 16’s.

AirDrop works with any iOS / MacOs device without issues. No need in using anything else. I also don’t think that the Vivo X100 Ultra supports ProRes LOG shooting in 4K 120. @@PeterLindgren1 Shoots without overheating LOG only 4K 30. I never shoot in LOG. Pro mode 4K 120 it is enough to remove contrast saturation and and increase the bitrate to 120 Mbps. The choice of the main module 1X and telephoto 3.7x. I do not use third-party applications for shooting
