TechWithKEM I'd say that apple computers are too expensive (performance/price ratio). Better getting a Chromebook if you just wanna surf the web or write. Otherwise, i'd stick with a lenovo for gaming/rendering.

When I got an iPod 2nd Gen in 2009, the only mobile software that I heard that was so popular is the iOS, I never heard of Android at that time. Steve Jobs was very Bold indeed, I bet lots of small companies had this kind of device planned out waiting for the right time to release it, but when Steve Jobs thought of this kind of new Device, he instantly produced it and sold it to the public. This is why Steve Jobs was the best and most Boldest and Dare-taking CEO ever! R.I.P Steve Jobs :(

I've been in love with the iPhone since the day my dad stood in line on the release day in 2007 of the iPhone 2G, and we still have two iPhone 2Gs in my house, and they work like new! I really started watching the iPhones when the iPhone 5 was being rumored, and being a 5S owner today, I can really say, no phone even comes close to the beauty and versatility of the iPhone. My life pretty much revolves around Apple now, and I get really excited when they get ready release a new device, and am always on top of the rumors

I completely see where you come from. I used to be completely immersed in the apple eco-system. I used to stay up at night to watch the keynotes live, and it was awesome, I still do actually. And going through time with the iPhone I have noticed that wars often arise and people are unfairly biased. Recently I switched to the Google Nexus 5, and I love it. Happy to be in Googles eco-system. Its great to get exited about new releases.

I love Android, an android user; but you just got to give credits where credit is due. Good job apple, for changing the mobile industry. I know that other manufacture were pushing the smart phone industry, they just didnt have the balls that Steve job had by going all out. Apple today is just not the same as the old apple. We're talking about a company that played a huge role in revolutionizing the computers. You could argue that they copy "insert name" ; but you can't deny that they play a huge role in computer advancement. They eventually got their ass kick by Microsoft Windows. They push the mp3 player to a new level and also push the smart phone industry to a new level. Apple today is just sad, they give u an HD display and call it "HD retina" WDF!!!!!!! They have such a large fan base that they can just sell poop and call it ipoop and people would still stand inline to buy it. Call me an apple hater if u want, I'm just telling the truth. Siri is great, it was useless and many people dislike it, but it paved the road for Google now and cortana.

imelda heideman Well, what? Apple is just milking the brand, nothing more. Yes, they are introducing slight changes with every iPhone they release, but that's about it. Don't get me wrong though, iPhones aren't terrible phones. They are just made for people, who don't care about specs or software features and just buy iPhones for the sake of having an iPhone.

I was elated back when I was able to buy the iPhone 4 back in 2011. The iPhone in general to me was always a very expensive proposition. I love seeing how this amazing piece of technology as evolved. I get a kick out of all the negative and unkind remarks from those who I suppose are android admirers. I am now a proud owner of an iPhone 6 Plus!! I am very fortunate and blessed. And on the other hand iPhone owners are just as free to criticize their iPhones. No one device is perfect..I think its a matter of preference.

imelda heideman There's a weak point right beneath the volume buttons in which the phone bends if enough pressure is applied. A small, but a significant design flaw. Ian Mercaldi There was a lot revolutionary about it. 64-bit SoC, blazing fast GPU as demoed by Infinity Blade 3, Touch ID which isn't just cool because its very high res and can be used 360 degrees, but because its ergonomically placed and does wake/unlock/login with one single touch AND Apple thought about future appliances like Apple Pay physical and online authentication, iTunes/App Store purchases, new possibilities for developers and a quick way to reach the top UI of the display with Reachability. Then there's cool new camera features like 120fps hd slo-mo, super fast burst mode and maybe the most impressive: TrueTone flash. Don't be ignorant just because you prefer some other platform.

I used to own this iPhone back in 2007 and some part of 2008. I loved it and missed so many of things that I could do in much cheaper Nokia phones. The camera was a crap, no video capture, no Bluetooth file transfer and I lost my contacts because I sync the music with a different computer. Put I bought the iPhone for it's bigger display, pinch to zoom, nice audio and design. It was good back then and sadly iPhone remained the same during all these years. There was no competition at that time which make Apple slow down in innovation and experimentation. Has there been competition at that time and at that level then today's iPhone would have been a much better product.

I'd say the iPhone advanced a lot. The iPhone 5s is much faster, slimmer, has a bigger screen, lasts longer on battery and supports seemingly every network on the planet. It's faster than your Galaxy Note 3, even! The main things it 'needs' are another screen size increase and more flexibility for third-party apps.
@x3merx3mer
@x3merx3mer 10 жыл бұрын
Aurelian i didnt say it didnt advance, but advanced depressingly little. All brands were far behind and now they all surpassed it. Almost no innovations since the first version (i know, they added a fp scanner) and its the Apple who is chasing other brands even with the most basic stuff...and yet we still hope for something revolutionary with each gen.
@aurelian1
@aurelian1 10 жыл бұрын
nemanja milosevic What about Siri (acquired, but heavily reworked)? AirPlay? The Retina Display on the iPhone 4? Heck, the iPhone 5s is the first 64-bit smartphone (even if you don't care about 64-bit, it's still a new architecture). There are plenty of innovations... it's just that Apple hasn't been pushing toward big phones, and it hasn't shaken up its home screen layout despite tons of improvements behind the scenes.
@x3merx3mer
@x3merx3mer 10 жыл бұрын
Nothing that other phones already dont have and nothing revolutionary. Yet there are many many features iphone doesnt have. And please don't talk about speed and 64bit...other phones have 8core cpus and whatnot, so what. Its more of a natural progression than innovation. Take a look at this video again and see what the real innovation is.

dduke6 Apple didn't invent everything. They just got the opportunity to use someones invention on their product. Any car manufacturer even Ferrari does not invent their technology on their own. Companies like Brembo(for brakes), Pirelli (for tires), BOSCH (for mostly everything) provide the innovated parts to Ferrari. They just ask and see what they can get. Apple asked all their parts from thousands of companies and labelled them as Apple + claiming that they have built it. If you ever want to make a new product. You will look around for companies that develops each separate part of your product. If it's a phone, you will search for companies that provide touchscreens, the body, CPU, motherboard, RAM and all the other little things on a phone. At the end, you assemble the product and voila, you "invented" this. So I can agree that Apple invented the iPhone. But they did not invent each single part on the iPhone.

If only Apple could have continued to innovate the smartphone industry after this iPhone. They started everything we have today but now lag way behind everybody else. It's a shame really. They're losing customers because they want to 'play it safe" and hardly change anything. The least they could do is make the camera better. We're over here with 10+ megapixels on everything but they have had 8 for years. Then there's other things like screen resolution, 4G capabilities, and processor speed. My old phone from 2011 has a faster processor, better camera, and a bigger, higher resolution display, and 4G LTE. If the iPhone 6 doesn't have at least a 10mp camera, 720p display, and a quad-core processor, I'm going to be facepalming for the rest of my life. They've shown they have an engineering team capable of putting high end things in a small package with the Mac Pro. They can do it with the next iPhone.

dude there are phones with faster cpus that are nevertheless SLOWER, in os , games, and benchmarks. so that means nothing, camera has improved tremendously, and you know nothing if you think that pixels alone make a great or bad camera. same goes for screen resolution, u wouldnt see a difference if they made it a 4k display because of ppi, it makes no difference above 326ppi which is the limit for human retina, its why its called that. you only see whats on paper. ios also continous to be the biggest appstore exceeding by a mile android.

Isaia Costa 1) Optimization is key to a good user experience but raw horsepower is nice too 2) The camera has improved a lot (2mp - 8mp) and you're right, there are more things than pure megapixel count that makes a good photo. But having more MP means higher detail. In nearly every case. 3) You clearly haven't experienced a 400+ppi. It's a world of difference. But the type of display also plays a huge role in being able to see pixels or not. 4) The size of the respective app stores don't matter. Good luck trying to fit all the apps from either one on your phone. 90% of the apps on the stores are useless/copies of others anyway.

iPhone was revolutionary and made the ground for modern mobile industry, but right now, I prefer android as a mobile os.

it was revolutionary in the touch screen sense. the interface is the same as a nokia from years and years back. a grided app icon layout. back then, nokia's icons had animations on them which ios still does not. touch screen technology isn't exactly new either. apple was good to bring the technology into a phone. so they took technology from somewhere else and put it onto a nokia interface basically.

I remember getting this phone within a month after its release. No MMS, no video recording, no 3G. . . stuff that was so basic elsewhere, but I was okay with it because the phone was so freaking cool! Since then I've owned an iPhone 3G, an iPhone 4, a Galaxy Nexus, a Nexus 4, and a Nexus 5. There's no denying that Apple completely changed how we interact with our phones. Great video!

I, like many other kids growing up and going through school together, had that rich friend you secretly hated at times for always having the latest and greatest gadgets. He had a diskman, skipping songs with ease while we spent what seemed like an eternity rewinding and flipping our walkman tapes, an iPod, Abel to cast aside those fragile and flimsy cd's when we all were still cringing when the bus hit a bump and our diskman always skipped our favorite part of the song. An iPhone, Abel to stream media, listen to music, surf the web, and make phone calls when we had to carry 6 different gadgets to do the same. In retrospect, I still hate you Zack. lol

I'm sorry but while the iPhone certainly did it with style and with a larger screen, I had Google Maps running just fine on my Dash (which I still own and it still runs well). I also reject the claim that browsers couldn't load full sites. Opera Mini was, at that time, considerably better than WebKit. Download speed had a lot to do with it but I owned the first iPhone and hated actually using it as a daily driver over my Dash. I wanted to love the iPhone but it had no apps compared with 10,000 WinMo apps and Opera Mini was in reality faster (so fast that I can still load pages on it in 2014 fairly quickly even by today's standards) and it had something that the iPhone still doesn't have and which makes the browser unusable IMO and that's text reflow. It was, and still is, an absolute necessity and the singular reason I use Boat over Chrome or the stock browser on my Note 2. I wanted to love the iPhone but as someone who needed a phone to actually get things done, the Dash (still my favorite hardware keyboard) beat the pants off the iPhone. It was clear that it was a game changer but it was overpriced for what it actually did. It was also clear that the future was in that form factor but it needed to grow up. I still power up my Dash and realize how awesome it was. And it has something the iPhone still doesn't have making iOS completely and totally unusable; a file explorer.

I was very young at the time, but i remember using Opera Mini on my fathers Blackberry while my older brother had an iPhone and everything looked way better and worked way more efficient on his iPhone. The Opera Mini didn't even have css support at the time so the websites also looked horrible. Even though it took a while for the iPhone to render the webpages, it was much easier to navigate with pinch to zoom and touch controls.
@EdGloss
@EdGloss 10 жыл бұрын
Zenolijo Opera Mini on the BlackBerry was horrible. It was vastly different on Windows Mobile and absolutely supported CSS. Web sites rendered damn bear perfectly and easily two to three times faster than the iPhone because it pre-rendered on Opera's severs before sending a small file to the phone which was perfect for a 2G connection which was all both phones had. Pinch to zoom was available as well only it wasn't a touch screen so it was a button. It, too, was vastly superior to the iPhone because it did text reflow which the iPhone STILL doesn't do. This is one of the most important features of a mobile browser if not the absolute most important feature. I could zoom around a Web site way faster than on my iPhone at the time and oddly, it is still quite fast. I was just playing with my Dash the other day and Web page were still rendering super fast and the text reflow was absolutely brilliant. A mobile browser is useless without the option IMHO.

Titus Nickleson Up to date means almost nothing. While I root my phones and generally have the latest version of Android running, I have the same version of Android on my Note 2 that I had in October 2012 and I haven't missed a beat. Updating used to mean something when there was a vast difference but that just isn't the case anymore. And even iOS doesn't update every device forever and when they do they often give a slightly different version. Not every feature is always available. What is truly the difference between Android 4.1 and 4.4 particularly for the average user who couldn't tell you what version was on their phone if you paid them?
@EdGloss
@EdGloss 10 жыл бұрын
Titus Nickleson And I could load absolutely full Web page on my Dash long before he iPhone was even announced. It wasn't new and even though webkit based browsers are the norm now they were quite bloated, slow and terrible when it was released with the first iPhone. It couldn't come close to the speed of Opera Mini on Windows Mobile.

iPhone 4S was my first smartphone, however Apple plays dirty and decides to sue everybody, with that said they need to adapt and accept competition, they didn't invent everything they have today either, not even back in 2007 or before. The original keyboard phones were invented by someone else and they do take things from Android. It's safe to say Apple has been surpassed and iOS 8 could be the fall of Apple, with the entire iPhone 6 bentgate, if Steve Jobs was still alive, iPhones wouldn't even be big, therefore would still be no competition to Android at all.

It's just that they came into market a late while it was still developing. The new ios 7 has all the features copied from different os including android's notification center, Web Os multitasking and so on. It's just apple provides few features but they implement it so well that it works just like a charm. So don't talk crap

prasenjit zankar Even Google admitted that they needed to change the ENTIRE Android UI back in 2007 when the 1st iPhone was introduced to match iOS. Android before the iPhone was like a googlified BlackBerry OS, much different than Android's UI today. As a Nexus user, I have a high respect for Apple. Even things as simple as home button, flick scrolling, pinch to zoom, and double tap to zoom originated from iOS. Apple doesn't really need to care about copying others since they were the one who got massively copied in the first place. I don't know why so many people fail real hard at that simple logic.

Samsung - 33% Apple - 17% LG - 5% Huawei - 5% ZTE - 4% Other - 36% Which leaves iOS only at 17% while Android has the potential for 73% (Which I know isn't possible because Ubuntu, Windows, Blackberry, and many others) Those numbers are from this time last year, mind you.

Mr. SirPerson he said "best selling smartphone'. Not the best selling Brand of smartphones. There's a very large difference. If apple gets 17% of the market with a handful of devices vs hundreds of different models on competitor, it is very impressive. Usually market share comes at a cost of diluted brand image.

Apple essentially only has one smartphone and the others are just previous models. The 5C is just a low cost 5

Mr. SirPerson Tell me a SINGLE phone that has sold more than the iPhone 4 or 4S. And no, don't compare ALL samsung sales in a year, or all android sales.

Oh man I wanted this phone so bad as a kid...I really wanted any smartphone really. The thought that I could connect to the Internet for "anywhere" blew my mind and I knew it would be the future I wanted to be a part of.

Typical Android user, who can't respect that we have different taste. I like iPhone, i got the iPhone 5. I DID own an Android, the HTC Desire HD. I love both phones, and both OS. But since i got my iPhone, i liked it more. But that is my taste. So please, if you are just another Android fanboy, do you mind respecting the different taste we have, and just don't watch the video? I hate this war going on between Android and iOS, why is it so hard for so many people to realize its about TASTE. They just keep fighting over which phone is the best, well, i'll tell you what. NO PHONE IS THE BEST! Our taste in a phone does not make it the best phone, it only makes it the best phone for yourself. So pleace, before you say any negative shit, remember, TASTE.

kaare1992 i never said which one is better. there's plenty to like about ios, well not plenty. there's a lot to like about android, and there is plenty to like about windows phone as well. i'm just saying ios is boring and hasn't moved on other than a couple of things it's copied from android and windows phone. you can like ios, i have no problem with that. i just think it hasn't kept up with the development of android and windows phone.

sultanabran1 It's pathetic how you think iOS has "copied" your androids. iOS has more features than android where it counts. Hint? Check accessibility. Changing wallpapers and launchers? Grow up man, I won't do it much even if iOS had the feature, and I haven't changed anything on my nexus 5 either. Android L copies significantly from iOS 8, what with handoff, android auto, do not disturb off the top of my head. When iOS 7 came out you said the multitasking launcher and safari tabs were copied. Yes they were copied, but not from chrome, but from exposé in Mac OSX, where google copied it from originally. None of you happen to notice it do you? Control center? Try dashboard. Like 'quick settings' could be copied. The only thing I found thoroughly copied from android was notification center in iOS 5. Obviously the implementation itself was, for the most part, different, but it pissed me off that they couldn't think of anything better than swiping down the status bar. But you know where majority of the actual copying is from? Jailbreak tweaks. That's where android gets most of it's "innovation" from, what apple occasionally taps into. But apple's case is different. Apple regularly hires any cydia developers. It's famous for that poaching.

Ashton Nile well thanks for that essay ashton, but all i said was, even though i spelt latest wrong, was that it's the same as the previous version. meaning ios is boring and interface is old and outdated. even though your essay is in many ways correct, it has nothing to do with what i'm saying. try staying with the topic.

I didn't actually realise how good the iPhone was back then cuz i was just starting school then and i didn't really care. Right now though, I would happily go and buy the first iPhone because the innovation was more than anything else I've seen ever. It is an amazing piece of history.

Never like Apple for many years before. At the time I had not idea they had even made a smartphone of any kind until my wife was raving about the first Droid. She had to have it with that slide out keyboard. So when Verizon was offering a Droid Eris for free with any Droid we got out first smartphones. Still do not like IPhone and prob will never own one
