I had removed logic board from an old beat up iphone 6 plus housing assembly with a cracked front assembly. Put all together with new front assembly but the home button was different color so i used heat gun to remove the sensor strip with ribbon from the home button and stuck it on the one with the same color as the new housing and voilà same color and sensor works. Only on the iphone 6 plus.

You need to use a eeprom reader to get touch id to work with the new homebutton...google qianli icopy plus v2.1 or look up on youtube how to do it

Yes, Touch-ID works only with the original button that was installed at the factory on your iphone 8. In the description under the video, you will find a link to the button which gives the function to press and back to the main screen.

So I have a iPhone 8 that one of my friend gave me but it is rose gold with a white face and home button. I don’t like it and want to do a switch over to black. Meaning that the home button will have to be replaced as well. ReadinSg the description for a new one. It has a disclaimer stating this replacement is for decoration only and it won’t function on my 8. Am I reading this wrong or is this true? If so is there any other way around it. Question - I replaced my charging port and microphone and everything went well but now my fingerprint reader is not working. If I enter my settings and try to capture/record my fingerprint, the phone makes no attempt to capture the print. There are no errors but nothing happens. Any thoughts? You can replace it with a third party home button, you have to solder it to a replacement charging port so you will have to replace that too, Art of Repair youtube channel has a video detailing how they will soon not have to solder, you won't retain touchID, it will act like a regular home button that clicks so it will bring back the go to homescreen function
