In this video, a former Apple tech explains why your iPhone gets hot and shows you how to fix the problem for good. Your iPhone gets hot because its CPU is running at 100% for a prolonged period of time. Most of the time, this is the result of a software problem.

If your iPhone is getting hot, begin by closing out of your apps. To do this, double-click the Home button and swipe the apps up and off the screen in the app switcher.
Next, check for app updates and iOS updates. Software updates often include patches to glitchy software that may be causing your apps to crash, malfunction, and make your iPhone get hot.
If your apps don’t seem to be the reason why your iPhone gets hot, trying resetting all settings. Doing this will target corrupted software files that could be overheating your iPhone. This won’t delete any of the data on your iPhone, but it will erase all of your settings.

Thanks for this but... under “Analytics” (mentioned near the beginning), you didn’t say what to do if many apps of the same name are showing. Also, I notice I have a lot of KZbin, Facebook, WhatsApp repeated... but the whole line of the description is not exactly the same. Therefore, should I be looking for exact duplicate (entire line) descriptions, or just the name repeated lots of times as I have? Again, though, what do I do about these? Cheers

For you who have this issue, when your phone getting hot, opens the case, then gently put your back of the phone onto the floor, make sure there's no sand or dust on floor. Floor is always in cool temperature, it can absorbs your phone heats in no time or you can play your phone while your phone on the floor to prevent overheating. This solution is just temporary. You probably need a certified technician to solve this issue.

I found the the app called Ad Guard was listed many times after I uninstalled it. Changed all settings. Phone hot within minutes So I did a rest of all contents and settings and skipped the auto install of the apps in my iPhone. It worked Phone is back to normal. Thank you so much. It’s not necessary to close out apps on iPhone with modern versions of iOS. The os does a great job at quickly suspending apps once you exit them. It actually wastes extra battery to constantly close (swipe) them because the app will need to completely reload the next time you need to use it rather than being already suspended in ram.

Not sure if this will help anyone but I figured out through the battery usage that the music app was constantly in use and draining the battery/making my phone super hot, even though I never use my music app. I opened the app, went to downloaded music, and realized that it was trying to download like 200 songs at once from the cloud. I cancelled the downloads and that solved the problem.
