I wanted to show him this KZbin video but it wouldn't load. But, it started loading when I accidentally touched my antennae line on my phone to a coke can by me and the video started to load. Ummm... signal strength and metered data throughput aren't necessarily relational. You could have a 5-bar signal in a congested area and have a low data throughput. Similarly, you might be in a 2-bar signal area and be the only one connected to a local mast, therefore have an excellent rate of data throughput. Just sayin'...

that's a dBm measurement (Not the same as dB!). it's logarithmic, not linear. Every 3dBm increase is double the power so its actually a surprisingly good case and and would increase your reception range by a noticeable distance!

Actually that readout is a logarithmic scale, so a difference of 3 equals to about 10 times stronger or weaker signal.

How do you change the signal setting back? I know he said you can tap it and it'll change but it changes back after a few seconds. Halp.

The little trick you did with the phone signal, is there a way to undo it completely?

Actually, it doesn't do anything because the "technology"/modulation defines the speed you're getting and the modulation is chosen based on SNR rather than Intensity. In short, it doesn't really matter (apart from horribly fringe scenarios) how "strong" the signal is as long as it is "clean" (of noise).
