Samsung just needs to step up their gane a little more in app loading. Still a pretty fast phone. iPhone will always have us beat with optimization. Hopefully in android 9 it might be better. Don't underestimate the importance of RAM management, it's why it's included in these speed tests. You're more likely to notice apps reloading than if they take a little longer to load - loading times really mean nothing in everyday use unless you're comparing two phones side by side. What's more important is that when you're using apps, they stay open so you can jump between apps easily.

@@MiguelAngel-rw7kn That's true - speed tests really don't reflect everyday use. I don't think you're going to notice apps taking a little longer to load either in daily use... Where the iphone pulls ahead is in gaming and doing more intensive tasks other than just social media apps or web browsing, like exporting that video or opening a 500 page Word document. Unless you're doing these types of tasks a lot, I don't think you'll notice any difference in performance. Where though, I think Samsung does fall behind still, is in the fluidity of their UI - it's prone to more stutter or lag, particularly in the long-term.

Display is the most color accurate LCD display in the industry and if you want oled, you can upgrade ... the iPhone XR single camera performs better than Note 9 in pretty much every comparison online. No one needs a headphone jack anymore & almost every company has removed it now- it’s about time. If you’re in the Apple ecosystem currently, u don’t need usb c. Micro SD is shit when you’ve got all the insane integrations with iCloud, plus Micro SD is slow as hell compared to the internal storage & they often fail which make half your phone useless- no thanks. Apple has finally done it, I've never been an apple fan and still am not. However I've always excepted the fact that they have far better optimization as to be expected since IOS is made by apple and for apple. Still nonetheless very impressive and after finally upgrading their ram theyve made the Iphone XS max a phone that any snapdragon 845 phone cannot beat. While I will continue to support android phones for reasons other than processor speed, I give my respect to apple for their latest generation of phones.

@@JackMarch In the last 2 years apple's lost a lot of speed tests (phonebuff style or anything else that included a ram management section) mostly due to their lower ram options. Overtime they've closed the gap in multitasking and this year they added an extra GB of ram to the XS max allowing it to keep up in memory and continue to have a better processor on more intensive apps. Theyve also finally adapted the OLED screen which is a huge improvement sadly they didnt include it on the XR.

On eBay, Note 9 is cheaper than iPhone XR. Yet it started off with a $1250 price tag? That's insane. It's a third of its price now. The XR only lost $100 in price. That being said, I switched over from my XR to Note 9 (after the XR got a hardware issue). I honestly haven't noticed the speed difference. If anything, KZbin is much more smooth and efficient. Almost no buffering at all. While the play store feels absolute shit compared to app store, I've liked pretty much everything else about note 9 so far. It has A LOT of features!

When you stop getting software updates, you will end up not having as much features as Android. You still do not even have split screen!

With Note9, you can have microSD expandable of up to 1TB. iPhone is featureless in all ways. No split screen, no aod, no NOTHING! WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY? Can iPhone not have a camera bump? Better to have a feature packed phone than a phone focused primarily on features heavily sacrificing other aspects.

Apple is painfully slow at adding new features. Still no split screen, still no clear all recents button, now there is no headphone jack and fingerprint sensor. That explains how dumb Apple is with their limited iPhone features that all go to the iPad.

I believe the UFS 2.1 storage is the bottleneck on the Note 9. The iPhone has NVME which is much faster storage technology. Samsung should hopefully fix this with the release of UFS 3.0 next year!

But apps are generally better optimized for iOS anyway so I doubt that made any difference. XR clearly won the app loading but the 3GB of RAM wasn't enough. That being said, don't think anyone is trying to keep 20 apps open like this anyway.

Nikka M you’re right about that. But this is a new form factor, which means app developers should update there apps for the Xr. Especially in word and excel, the Xr looked SOOO much slower than the XS. I was shocked there.

@@nic_ccc3366 For example, take a look at Word and Excel. The Xr has the same A12 chip as the Xs Max. In that speed test between the Xs Max and the Note 9, the Xs Max just zipped through Word and Excel. It was way too slow in this speed test. Even though iOS is also way more optimized than Android, iOS launches way more contents (it loads the full app while Android launches the main menu contents only). With this, I believe that the Xr is much more faster than this. The Xr is also a new form factor, so I still believe that most of the apps has to update to work well with the Xr.

@@theboy2385 yeah most of those really depend on the user's opinion. A lot of people like iOS more than android, FaceID to TouchID, Apple App choices to Google Play app choices. USB-C is a non issue. Only thing the note has an edge on are the headphone jack, notch, and display. The XR, on the other hand, has better front and back camera, more security, better ecosystem, better user interface, more futureproofing, and of course the literal best cpu in any phone ever.

It's a minor thing that doesn't really bother people much. Samsung has always had the worst camera out of all the flagship phones including Google's Pixel, OnePlus, Huawei, and more. That's an objective statement. Literally everyone recognizes that pictures and videos aren't really Samsung's thing. Also, their front cam beauty mode is total shit. The phone I'm using, the Galaxy S8, has worse cameras than my previous iPhone 5s. Security has always been the forte of Apple phones. Tons of news reports show Apple basically refusing government and police officials from unlocking people's phones. Don't let your emotions blind the truth. As for their ecosystem, you basically contradicted how Apple's ecosystem isnt better when android literally has no equivalents. Customizability and convenience are two key characteristics of android and apple user interface, respectively. While a lot of people like android's customizable interface because it offers them the choice to change it, that doesnt necessarily make it more convenient. A lot of themes offered are basically just flashy gimmicks to make their phones look nice when in reality, it just makes it look like convoluted shit. iOS' streamlined interface was literally created for convenience. It's one of the reasons why a lot of Android phones' default interface are looking more and more like iOS. Also, I don't think you know what future proofing means. Constant software updates and great customer support are what makes a phone "future-proofed." Apple releases software updates for their phones which can last 4-5 years which is pretty long for a smartphone lifespan. The iPhone 5 which was released on 2012 supported iOS 6 until iOS 10 (20160 which is about 5 years. Compared to literally every android phones, 5 years is an eternity. A lot of major android-based companies like samsung and huawei basically just forget about their phones like a year or two later after its release. So, no. It's not objectively better. These are researched FACTS that I'm pretty sure a lot of non-fandroids will agree. Even if I own an S8, I try to know more about all the advantages and disadvantages of phones whether they be Apple or Android. So don't even start with the iSheep iSheep comments.

So, the thing that people need to realize is that once you've opened the apps you often use, they will reload instantly on the Note 9 - so your entire day of app use is going to be much faster than it would on the iphone. The initial load time for apps will only be slower if you open entirely new apps throughout the day. That said, I have a Note 8 and it doesn't look anywhere near as sluggish as the Note 9 does in this video. No idea what's going on with that.
