IPS- Nathan Lecture III - Southeast Asia and ASEAN by Mr Bilahari Kausikan

The third IPS-Nathan Lecture will deal with ASEAN, and US-China competition in Southeast Asia. It will examine ASEAN’s strengths and weaknesses in maintaining order, some of ASEAN’s key concepts of regional security and its attempts to shape a new security architecture for the region. In this context, it will analyse some of the broad underlying factors in the South China Sea disputes, the interests of the US and China that are engaged in the South China Sea and the challenges this poses for ASEAN.

Can you remember the atrocities of the Vietnam War when UNHCR is set up in View Rd Hospital. United States of America is drawn into this French Colony of Vietnam War for the fear of Domino's Theory. So, who is ' the devil and angel' instigating the sufferings of the South Vietnamese. The adage, ' what is mine is my, what is your is my too'!

most similar to the past will be devide and conquer ( which china is doing right now lol , they buying out one by one country in asean , first cambodi then phillipine , soon will be laos ( vietnam and china are now at the same level on lao but soon i think the lao will become another pro china soon with all the $$ the chinese giving to elite lao )
