Bit similar in the UK . Lots of people either use Samsung or Apple. Some people haven't even heard of Google Pixel, although Google is slowly getting more popular. We also have Xiaomi, Honor, Nothing and Moto as fairly popular brands of phone . We also have the Samsung A55 which sells very well .
@TALLmidget1981Ай бұрын
We had it already when HTC and LG were still in the game. It's not the whole fault of the companies that no longer make phones. It's more the consumer when they would walk into a carrier and allow the carriers to con them into Apple or Samsung because of the kickbacks the carriers would receive from selling those brands. It's very easy to steer a sheepish society to a body of water and get them to drink. That's what's wrong with the American public these days. We will never get this competition back unless society breaks it's addiction to becoming brainless.

During my travels in Southeast Asia, I acquired a budget-friendly Redmi phone. These phones are quite intriguing. However, what deters me from purchasing the pricier Chinese smartphones is the software support. With Samsung now offering seven years of support, it's a tough offer to match. Now that I'm back in America, the cost of Chinese phones increases due to shipping or import fees deters me from buying one here. Additionally, warranty issues are a concern. Another concern is the reliability; there's a noticeable lack of long-term reviews by tech KZbinrs for some Chinese phones. I'm also interested in their long-term performance.

The fact that we have phones going for over a grand without a chargering brick and at least a clear case is just wild. This is something competition, if allowed, will definitely change.

The phone that I want so much right now is the Nubia Z70 Ultra. The 35mm lens uses a similar concept of variable aperture like Sony Pro-I but more stages (and a physical 2-stage shutter button). Only don't know if it'll be whitelisted by AT&T. If it is, I am severely tempted to jump ship from my Sony 1 V at the $949. Mainstream phones just suck camera wise.

Oneplus 13 and iqoo 13 basically the same phone. Like almost, 90% to 95% simillar. The iqoo 13 is more powerful tho, 144hz compare to 120hz, also faster charging at 120w compare to 100w, bigger battery, it's full performance with double chip SD 8 Elite + Q2 Chip. Oneplus is kinda all rounder with better camera and wireless charging. If you really care about power and performance, can't beat iqoo 13.

I bought the Oppo Find 7 in 2014 from their EU store and this year I bought the Oppo Find X7 Ultra from China, it must have been destiny. I also used the OnePlus One briefly when it came out and had the P30 Pro and later P40 Pro between 2019-2024. I've never been as happy with phones as the Chinese ones. I had the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and later Galaxy S8 for a few years and they were disappointing. Small batteries, battery drain bugs, slow charging, mediocre cameras, heating issues. I also currently have a Sony Xperia 10V, and while I like their hardware, the user experience is unfortunately very poor.

Only advantage of Samsung, Apple, and Google has in the US is network compatibility. If the Chinese phones just put more network frequency bands on their phones I believe people would take a chance at buying them.

Btw others SD 8 Elite phone will not be the same with iQoo 13. Close maybe but not the same, others even have SD 8 elite but they will maybe still come with your typical 120hz standard display, also beside 144hz iQoo has double chip inside. So SD 8 Elite + Q2 chip. It can push framerate to 144 fps same to their display 144hz. The Q2 chip will generate extra fps for your game. Other phones with SD 8 Elite will get just 60 fps on genshin impact because genshin has that fps lock mechanics to their game, but since this iQoo has Q2 chip, it can somehow by pass that and create extra fps up to 144 fps. Also let say on call of duty mobile, others SD 8 elite get 120 fps which is impressive because their display only support 120hz and that's the game fps lock mechanism, iQoo 13 will still play at 144 fps which is more impressive. Plus it runs cooler because your SD 8 Elite get a bit of help from that extra Q2 chip inside. Phenomenal phone.

It's certainly worth a try. My S23 & S24 Ultra phones have been mediocre and just feel old. I'm ready for something new and fresh. We need to demand more choices besides Samsung and Apple.

The only reason I haven’t bought a Chinese phone, is that I can’t get insurance through my carrier, otherwise I would have ditched Samsung and apple a long time ago. They can’t match the Chinese phone price to performance.

With the process of getting the carriers in the US to sell all the phones that they currently do not it's is absolutely never going to happen. Theirs too many hoops for other brands to jump through cause the Carriers holds all the power in the states. It sucks but that's the case but these brands will never do what the Carriers want them to do to sell them here. But that doesn't matter if they don't sell them. Just have to import and most of them will absolutely work on US networks .
@mozdieloz3826Ай бұрын
To answer your end question I live in UK and this year bought 5 different mobile phones. First was cheap tat brand new mobile from TikTok which I sent back, the other 4 were brand new Pixel 8 pro. Brand New Pixel 9 Pro Plus which I sent back. Xiaomi Chinese version 13 Ultra 5G (pre used) and add on camera pack kit. And Vivo X80 Pro 5G which I imported myself from China and it was brand new. My biggest regret is the Xiaomi because I literally hate the operating system being completely in Chinese unless you accept not having Xiaomi gesture control function on your phone screen, which to me isn't an option as what's the point of not having full gesture control by swiping up screen or from left of screen to get stuff if it was in English (which it isn't as it's 100% Chinese- including their sometimes cruel to animals videos they're forever click bating me with.

Checked the bands the phone has. Less than half of all bands the US uses or less for every carrier. So yes it works, but not amazingly well. Folks, these phones arent made for our markets. It is what it is. I wouldnt recommend running out to buy a Chinese phone before you check if it has proper band support.
@chieflingcoАй бұрын
The way the USA has you buying phones through a carrier store.... And these Chinese phones aren't gonna be available like that. Why can't you just buy a phone and drop any sim card in it and be good to go. I wish all Chinese brands were available in USA we only got OnePlus (Oppo) and that's not through any carrier. OnePlus used to be available on T-Mobile now I don't think OnePlus is contracted with them anymore.

The States suck when it comes to cell phones, traveling around South America has opened my eyes to the vast variety of options in electronics, here its the big two mostly and like everything else a cash grab the same tired designs, colors overpriced anti repair mentality where it's cheaper to buy the next big thing. I've been living in Ecuador and the abundance of options in phones that come with chargers earphones and cases at affordable prices is a sad commentary on our way of doing business, I'm using an infinix phone now a brand i never knew until I was in Ecuador triple sim card slot headphone jack and included a charger for a hundred dollars USD.
