Iranian media reports suggest that the crew of the seized Israeli-linked ship, MSC Aries, could soon be released. The vessel, a Portuguese-flagged ship, was seized by Iran on April 13, prompting diplomatic efforts for its release. Indian authorities have been granted consular access to the Indian crew onboard. However, Iranian authorities are yet to provide details on the timing of the crew's handover. The situation remains fluid as diplomatic exchanges continue between Iran and concerned nations. Most ships have Indian crew. Whenever Iran captures Western flagged container ships they release the Indian crew. Maybe India should seriously buy these Western shipping companies just to save the hassle of being captured.

The so called Indian Foreign Ministey spokesman Mr Randhir Jaiswal has made a baseless statement which purports to sanctify the western corporate dictum that Indian crew must refuse to return to India even after Iran has released them for repatriation to India, because of idolatrous veneration of some contractual obligations towards the malafide employers or owners of the ship who intent to sacrifice the crew members as scapegoats or bogeymen in their political scuffle with third countries like Iran. Such a statement will only behove an enemy agent embedded in the Indian Foreign Services. If this man Randhir Jaiswal talks nonsense, he should be dismissed from service by his boss Subramaniam Jaishankar, else the external affairs ministry will necessarily invite suspicion upon itself from sane quarters. However, having said that, it is also equally true that if the crew insist on worshipping the bosom of their corporate employer, and deem it sacrilegious to return to India, then of course they must be left to their fate, which will be fair and square because there is no point in begging them to mind their safety if they are adamant on betraying India and instead sticking their neck out for Portugal or Israel or any other party to a regional or global conflict.

So called contractual obligations of crew members towards the corporate employers cease or lapse completely at the very moment the ship has been boarded and arrested by navy of any country. As such, if Iran now extradites the crew members to India, then the Indian foreign ministry spokesman Mr Randhir Jaiswal has no legal right to debar the crew from returning to India by citing any “contractual obligation”. The ship is in custody of Iran, and the crew members are duty bound to relinquish all of their role in management and operation of that ship. The Indian foreign ministry spokesperson Mr Randhir Jaiswal has made a very deeply flawed statement by proclaiming that contractual obligations prohibit Indian crew from returning to India. Such a statement would be expected of a foreign agent embedded within the Indian foreign services, from a traitor, and not from a bonafide diplomat. Possibly this man Randhir Jaiswal might be a saboteur operating within the Indian Foreign Service. However, there is only one complicating factor. Suppose that some of the so called Indian crew of that ship wish to worship the Israeli or Portuguese owners of that ship for cultural reasons or superstition, and consider it sacrilegious to abandon that unlucky ship unto death. So, if those crew members are so adamant on sticking their neck out for Portugal or Israel, then!by virtue of such politicking, they will be sabotaging the diplomatic efforts of the Indian government aimed at securing their release, and their welfare will no longer be the responsibility of the Indian nation but will be subject to fated destiny ordained by Providence.
