Not sure what you are talking about, but I'm pretty sure the event tomcat can carry 4 more E-2 Sparrows under the fuselage in addition to the 2 on the wing glove pylons, so you are definitely not limited to 2 SARH missiles. Granted you can't put R-27s (or Sedjils for that matter) there, but my point stands.

Yeah that’s my mistake with how I phrased it. The E2s are completely unviable at 12.3 and there’s no reason you’d ever run them over the ARHs. For this reason I didn’t mention them like I should’ve. I was focusing on the fact that your 1 good SARH (R27) is incompatible under the plane.

The 9P is fantastic at -1km head ons, I nearly always get a kill with it if the other guy ist firing anything and is going guns (despite that it says its rear-aspect it can infact lock on head ons). the 7E-2s sure are bad at range but you can carry 6 of em if you want, its specifically fantastic once you get the ability to use all 6 when you are grinding them since the grind for this thing sucks so bad. Would also love for you to do a comparison between the Fakour 90s, AIM54A and 54Cs since the 90s are kinda weird and its not exactly what the stat card says.

I politely disagree with you, It’s a better F-14A because it carrys better missiles (with the exception of the AIM-9P). My K/D with the tech tree F-14A is 9 to 1, I‘m currently at 11 to 1 with the iranian F-14A and I‘m maybe half way done with the Stock grind.

The Fauker isn't that hard to defeat if you try to, but a lot of people right now are just inexperienced.

For me and my playstyle the F-14 has always been my favourite Jet. Off game and in game it’s still is. I know it’s perfected for BVR but I love using it as a dogfighter more. With more than 1200 kills total in RB with the F-14s I’m very used to it’s flight performance and weapon usage. I’m a more patient player and I don’t mind flying around very high seeking the battlefield before engaging anything and killing my foes by surprise and then end up matches in nice dogfights. I bought a Hotas and VR especially to experience the Sim matches, and even on DCS now I’m learning all its controls manually. I’m really happy to see it dominate the lobbies again like the Danger Zone update. I hope people get to love the F-14 like I do. Cheers

@@SeekerHead You trade distance with maneuverability using the AIM 7 E-2 dogfights. These missiles pull much quicker off the rails allowing for considerably better close range performance and paired with phoenixes/Fakour 90's, they are perfect for when you get close to the enemy team after guiding in your Fox 3s. I believe anyone who calls these missiles not viable have not been using them right. My playstyle may be quite different from yours but I hardly think these missiles are "not viable".

@@SeekerHead I strongly disagree with you about the E2's. It's not a comparison between the 27R1 or the AIM-7F/7M. The competition for the weapon pylon is between the E2 and the AIM-54 or Faukor-90. For the initial spawn I am completely on board with running Faukors in all of the slots to try to farm some low hanging fruit early in the match. But if you land and re-arm at airfield midway through the match, I think you should swap loadouts to one that runs either two or four E2's on the belly pylons. In this situation where we're taking off for the 2nd time, our surviving opponents are probably the ones that know how to defend against radar guided missiles. We'll need to get closer to defeat them, and at close range the E2 is going to outperform close range AIM-54 or Faukor attacks.

I'm strongly against base humping for props, but in top tier I think base humping is a totally valid and not duchy strategy. Mainly because not being able to climb to altitude is no longer a problem and people can still easily enter the airspace of the base without getting killed by SAMs.

It's 12.3, not .7 which makes quite the difference, considering that it determines whether you'll meet the AMRAAM spam or not. Compared to the regular F-14A I do prefer the Fakour 90's over the AIM-54, because they are much faster. But I would prefer that I could have another pair of R-27R1s instead of the AIM-9Ps.

Landing at the airfield means 1 of 4 things: 1) I did not manage my fuel properly 2) I did not manage my weapons properly 3) I took substantial damage and should be dead but got lucky and was able to sneak in a landing 4) my team lost the game and I’m the last one alive All of those are YOUR fault. Under no circumstances should AI play the game for you.

There is no skill, or glory in shooting a guy on the ground or with no energy 10ft off the ground Let him take off and have a real fight. I didn't say give up. But making AI play the game for you is lame. This user in particular had plenty of time to turn around and get some speed to engage rather than just circle his airfield the rest of the match. If you want to try the 1v4, try the 1v4. But dont ask AI to try the 1v4 for you. Maybe PVP games arent really your thing if ypu find yourself needing the AI to play for you. (not you specifically - but airfield campers)

As an F-4J player, it's alright if you fly defensively in the first few minutes of the match to avoid the phoenix spam. Once the F-14's switch to R-27's and AIM-9P's and lose altitude they're easy to kill.

F14a and IRIAF fare better at 12.3 than the f14b fares at 12.7 That being said the radar is garbage. The IRIAF doesnt feel much different aside from the r27r1 being a nice change of pace Havent tried the sedjil yet and im working on the fakour 90 I feel like I'll like the fakour 90 for being able to hit closer range shots

Fakour is similar to phoenix, reliant on braindead enemies, which thankfully there are a lot of, but you shouldnt rely on fakours as your main source of kills tho.

@SeekerHead While an accurate assessment if we're assuming that all of our opponents are competent and a supply of 7F/7Ms would be preferred, you're ignoring that the Iranian tomcat is pretty much positioned to be THE king seal clubber tomcat. The faukor kicks the stuffing out of the AIM-54 for long range attacks. Experienced players know how to defend against such long range attacks, but take a closer look at where it sits in the matchmaker. At 12.3 it is outside of matchmaking range of the veteran players sitting at 13.7 top tier. It's also within matchmaking range of all of the level 10 players who bought themselves a shiny new premium like the F-4S during the last sale. Right now you can pretty much fire the Faukors in the general direction of the enemy blob at 70km and immediately shutoff your radar. Just let them mosey on over with inertial guidance. They pretty consistently will find that level 10 F-4S player all on their own. With that speed and that early launch, it's really easy to outrace your teammates and achieve first strike against the opponents that don't know how to play. It's not a glamorous or proud accomplishment, but it's still worth points just the same. I think the capacity to club seals like that is worth a lot during mega grind events.

To say the fakour “kicks the stuffing” out of the aim54 is quite an overstatement I think. It’s better sure, but not worth losing your 7M capability, only carrying 2 good SARHs, and having shit can AIM9Ps. Both long range missiles hinge on incompetent enemies rather than being competitive weapons.

One to redeem the coupon and add the vehicle to your hangar permanently, and the other one destroys the coupon and gives you a very small sum of warbonds. Make sure that you click the correct button because you do not want to turn it into warbonds. There is a separate achievement that will give you the option to upgrade the coupon into one that is capable of being sold on the marketplace. This marketplace option is completely useless to you if you simply want the F-14 for yourself.

No because if you're landing then you have already messed up/done something that put you in that position. It's not my job to give him 2nd chances. Should've managed your fuel better/not took damage/managed your weapons better etc. Airfield's shoudn't be get out of jail free cards. I'm not in favor of removing the airfield at all. There absolutely is a point. You should be able to have a chance at refueling or reloading. But it shouldn't be something that people can camp indefinitely and let AI play the game for them. The forward airfield works perfectly. You can land and refuel but you're unprotected so it's a risk. As it should be. Or if not, there should be time limits as for how long you can sit in your bubble of AI defense.
