Ambassador Chas W. Freeman, Jr. is a senior fellow at Brown University's Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense, ambassador to Saudi Arabia (during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm), acting Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and Chargé d'affaires at both Bangkok and Beijing. He began his diplomatic career in India but specialized in Chinese affairs. (He was the principal American interpreter during President Nixon's visit to Beijing in 1972.)
Ambassador Freeman is a much sought-after public speaker (see chasfreeman.net) and the author of several well-received books on statecraft and diplomacy. His most recent book, "America's Continuing Misadventures in the Middle East" was published in May 2016. "Interesting Times: China, America, and the Shifting Balance of Prestige," appeared in March 2013. "America’s Misadventures in the Middle East" came out in 2010, as did the most recent revision of "The Diplomat’s Dictionary," the companion volume to "Arts of Power: Statecraft and Diplomacy." He was the editor of the Encyclopedia Britannica entry on "diplomacy."
Freeman is a former U.S. assistant secretary of defense, ambassador to Saudi Arabia, principal deputy assistant secretary of state for African affairs, chargé d’affaires a.i. at Bangkok and Beijing, acting U.S. commissioner for refugee affairs and director of program coordination and development at the U.S. Information Agency. He was the principal American interpreter during the late President Nixon’s 1972 opening of U.S. relations with China.
Chas Freeman studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and Taiwan and earned an A.B. magna cum laude from Yale University as well as a J.D. from the Harvard Law School. He chairs Projects International, Inc., a Washington-based firm that for more than three decades has helped its American and foreign clients create ventures across borders, facilitating their establishment of new businesses through the design, negotiation, capitalization, and implementation of greenfield investments, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, franchises, one-off transactions, sales and agencies in other countries.

When you see how measured & responsible & restrained the Iranian attacks were, you truly see who the moral nation is in this whole situation. We will all be better off when the U.S. empire falls & the multi-polar world order takes over. Iran has been brutalized for decades & shown remarkable patience. This was a most moving and reasoned interview. What a wonderful man Mr. Freeman is. We live in a very evil dystopian world where lies are truth, right is wrong and it is very reassuring to hear someone like Mr. Freeman. Iran had every right to respond and acted in a very restrained and measured manner. Thank you both.

The psycopaths have popped up everywhere and come to power . And they act like psycopaths do . Same recipe . Grandious , entitled , no empathy , deceitful manipulative , lying search for power . On micro level and macro level . Just the same . And these are in power now .

Israel is widely regarded as having the best anti-missile defense systems in the world. However, this has prompted them and the usa to reassess their defense strategy. This situation also raises concerns about the effectiveness of anti-missile systems sold by the United States to various other countries. copy

In recent times there have been four attacks on embassies, all of them carried out by the US or its close allies: The attack on the Equadorian Embassy in London to seize Julian assange, the US seizure of the San Fransisco Russian consulate, the Equadorian attack on the Mexican Embassy and the Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.

Mr Freeman said the right things. I must add that Iran’s power has changed in the middle east, now Iran has the full capability to strike American forces including aircraft carriers across the Persian gulf with low flying missiles, drones submarines and fast boats, US fully understand this this and because of Israel US will not going to lose any warship or aircraft carrier if thy did then they have to face Russia in Ukraine and china in china sea. In my view US will not risk losing its status as supper power because of Israel. I think US will cooperate with Iran for its own survival as a superpower power. I could be wrong !
