@@TraderDan58 Even that's being challenged. The Zumwalt-class destroyer weighs more than the Ticonderoga-class cruisers. As the video says, you won't see these ships going too far from home. maybe they would do a "show the flag" visit to a place like Syria, at the most. But forget about long voyages across the deep sea to project power. It is for pushing back on the hostile neighbours if something should happen. Try to remember that even if the US fleet were ever not in the Persian Gulf, that would mean the wealthy Saudi and UAE navies across the Gulf, maybe even the Pakistan navy if they have problems on their eastern frontier by the Gulf Of Oman. People always forget about that relationship of theirs; it is not very friendly sometimes. (Even the Caspian issue gets mentioned more.)

In 2016 Iran produced 335,000 STEM graduates compared to the US with 568,000. Not bad for a country with a population of about 80 million at the time. The Iranians I encountered at university were without exception, smart, industrious and cultured people. The Iranians are going to get very good at a lot of things very quickly. Their automotive industry has been manufacturing around 1 million vehicles a year since 2016. Not bad for a country under a multitude of sanctions. I've heard from people who've visited that Iran is actually a far more industrialised, modern and advanced country than they expected. Iran has clearly made significant progress in missile and drone technology. They are also one of the few nations producing locally developed medium and long range air defence systems. They will inevitably integrate these technologies into their warships. If this is their initial foray into domestic construction of large warships, we'll see how far they can progress in 10-20 years.

@@flyingsword135 Religion and culture aren't exactly the same things. Persian/Iranian culture and national identity has a long history. They know who they are and embrace their own culture, national identity and values. Their national identity, self determination and sovereignty isn't void or made invalid just because we in the west no longer relate to those concepts or find them fashionable anymore. How the Iranians want to run their country is entirely up to the Iranian people. I'm not a Muslim, but it strikes me that Islam wasn't exactly a millstone for Saladin, the Mongol Khanate, the Ottomans, etc.

Regarding the incident during the live fire exercise, I believe the patrol boat that was accidentally targeted was responsible for moving the target into the exercise area. Regarding the classification, it's a mistranslation as someone else here has also mentioned. The same word is used in Persian to refer to all classes of warships and that's why people get confused when they've seen the word used for frigate in one place, destroyer in another, and a corvette in still a different place.

Thank you for taking the time to review this ship, whether you refer to it as a frigate or something else entirely. However, I must point out that the information provided seems quite dated. Notably absent from your analysis is any mention of Iran's supersonic cruise missiles, which have been undergoing extensive testing for over two years now. It appears likely that these advanced weapons will be integrated into the Iranian navy by 2024 or early 2025, marking a significant enhancement to its capabilities. Regarding the SM-1 missile you discussed, I believe you're referring to what is known in Iran as the Mehrab missile. This system surpasses the SM-1 in numerous aspects. Additionally, Iran possesses several newer generations of VLS technology, each offering advantages over the SM-1. Your reliance on reverse-engineering assumptions seems excessive, especially considering that many of these technologies may not even be accessible to Iran. Moreover, it's important to acknowledge that reverse engineering is a common practice across various militaries, including those of the United States, which has extensively utilized reverse engineering techniques for Soviet-era equipment. It's misleading to present these efforts as purely innovative developments without acknowledging the broader context of technological acquisition and adaptation. Comparing the navies of Iran and China to that of the United States is a challenging task, given the vast disparities in age and technology. Many of your naval vessels date back to World War II, yet you assert that China's modern navy is inferior to yours. This perspective seems somewhat skewed, particularly when considering recent advancements and investments made by China in its respective naval force. For instance, the Rails gun project, which was abandoned by the U.S. due to technical challenges, was successfully developed and refined by China, addressing the issues that led to its abandonment. This development underscores the capacity of other nations to innovate and adapt technologies, challenging the notion of American superiority in naval technology. In conclusion, while the United States undoubtedly holds a strong position in global military might, it is essential to recognize the progress and capabilities of other nations, such as Iran and China. The narrative of absolute American dominance overlooks the strides being made by other countries in naval technology and defense innovation. Have a good day.
