I agree! Props to you too. My opinion:im young too. they dont need cleaned too much easily couple hundred for pistols ars., dont baby them , they contain explosions. but when you clean them, do a good job, inspect it all, itll take a long time. You can be cheap. Old Rags. Toilet paper. I do like the shooters choice brass rod tho.

Took classes on material sciences. Even with a electric drill and trying to damage the crown, gas port, rifling, etc. brass brushes and rods wont. Check out some videos. Brass is going to have a really hard time damaging hardened steel… and think about firing a brass projectile, squeezing it and sealing it under molten gases… you dont have to baby your barrel…

I literally only just spray ballistol on it all and wipe it with a cloth, and put a nylon brush or bore snake down the barrel, and if I am feeling saucy, put a patch down it, but really thats it, and I know a lot of people that never clean their guns, especially .22LRs.

Wow Eric, 2500 rounds without cleaning, impressive. As a 23 year Seabee and the armorer rejecting the M-16 at least a time or two before saying it was clean after rifle quals or field exercise, I am anal about cleaning after every range trip .i find cleaning a gun or changing out a set of sights to be enjoyable. I own quite a few handguns and I do not know the next time it will see range time so I like to keep lube on them during storage. I have about eight brands of gun oil, am 66 and my kids and grandkids will probably have gun oil as a inheritance.

Hi Eric......Very good video, however, my own preference is to generally just wipe out the trigger group as it gets very little dirt and if I DO get it dirty, I use an organic cleaner like Ballistol and then wipe it out. To spray solvent down into such a complicated area and strip it of whatever oils are there is an open invitation to rust if, afterwards, such an oil wipe misses any of the intricate parts. I know you cautioned leaving solvent on metal parts too long, however, you should also emphasize that using solvents such as Hoppes No. 9 bore cleaner should NEVER be allowed to get onto wooden grips as it they will ruin the wood finish. Pete
