How about your single shot 20 gauge sawed off barrel to the wood and cut off pistol grip out of the stock sand down barrel and you can run any shell out of it make your own cut off slugs or throw in rock salt any thing also for the ability to shoot more than 1 shit see double barrels side by side or over under or do it with a pump gun but it will be a bit bigger

Well i'm Ukrainian, and i think you guys rock! There is a lot of crap happens in my country, and we are trying force our government to accept FIRST weapon law so we can legally buy pistols, revolvers and other firearms at a reasonable prices, and defend ourselves with it, but a lot of my countryman have, as you call it, "sheep mentality" and fear of guns. KZbin helps to teach people that you didn't need to fear good people with guns, you need to fear bad people with anything. Sorry for butchering english language.

Yeah you guys definitely need to do a "budget truck gun" video. There is no way I'd buy something that expensive to keep in my truck, muchless with all the tacticool gadgetry. To me a truck gun is a general purpose firearm that is reliable and inexpensive. I live in farm country but work in a city 30 miles away so I need something that will do everything from killing varmints, to defending myself and getting me home if things go crazy while I'm in the city. And if it's stolen, dropped, or goes a while without being cleaned I won't be too upset. I have a mossberg maverick 88 that I bought at a pawn shop and even after buying an 18.5 inch barrel, sling, and shell holder I've got about $215 invested. I spray painted the short barrel black to keep rust off and in the last 6 years it's killed tons of critters and snakes, put down a deer with it, been hunted with, and there's nothing in North America it won't kill if I need to defend myself. That's a truck gun. If we're being realistic I would much rather have seen a bunch of old pumps, lever actions, bolt actions, etc sitting on that counter instead of all the spec op gear that the average working guy is not gonna buy. How do you leave out any of those guns in a video about truck guns?

I went to high school in the 70's. The school parking lot was full of trucks with guns. No one gave it a second thought. One day in gym class the coach was trying to open a bag of volleyballs, frustrated, he asked for a pocket knife. About half the boys had one on them. Never heard of one being used in a fight.

Damn, my idea of a truck gun is a maverick 88, hi point carbine or maybe even a Remington 870. but I can't justify dropping 1200 bucks on a really nice rifle or shotgun, just to keep in my trunk or something. if it gets stolen, I'm out of a crap ton of money, when I could have bought a perfectly fine trunk/truck gun for 1/5 the amount of a benelli. No thanks lol, I'll be a cheap ass with my hi point 4595 carbine.

As a teen from the south of The US, my go-to truck/trunk gun would be my Marlin 336 in 30-30 my dad and I picked up for under $300 in acceptable condition. Capacity of 6+1, range of roughly 200 yards, light recoil, and enough power to stop practically anything in the country. I don't see anything wrong with it. Is the the best for a self defense shootout? No. A solid AR-15 or AK-47 would be better. But m lever action will perform well across the board without costing me $600+. Just my two cents.

That's a good choice! I had a Marlin 1895 in 44 Magnum; 10+1 (I loaded 8 with an empty barrel. Easy to rack, and top off.) Good to 200 yards. Racking a lever gun is like racking a shotgun; it's an attention getter! NO ONE wants to chew on a 44 mag HP! Less recoil than a 30-30 or 12 Guage, and longer range than a shotgun.

+LongRange Bob How often do you shoot ? How often do you burn up mags ? How many mags do you need ? If the answer to all those is "not really that much" then just splurge on the Tavor. Unless you're arming an army you can't use two ARs at once anyways. Unless you're shooting hundred of rounds a week that extra ammo you "could" buy is meaningless.

My #1 truck gun picks would have to both ironically be surplus guns. A Makarov and/or SKS. Depending on whether you want your truck gun to be a pistol or rifle. Both are extremely cheap, ungodly reliable, have enough firepower to get the job done, and not gonna be something you're gonna care about getting dinged or rusted or God forbid stolen. Plus ammo is super cheap for both. Perfect choices. I would have to say something like an HK rifle would be a horrible truck gun. The last thing you would want is your $1000+ rifle rusting when you accidentally leave your window down one night before it rains. Or as mentioned earlier, having that same $1000+ gun stolen out of your car. The idea truck gun is something dead reliable, cheap, and easily replaceble. Accuracy and accessories are the opposite end of the spectrum from "truck gun"

another nice point about an sks rifle is they are loaded with stripper clips so in states where you cant have your rifle loaded you just have the rifle in there unloaded with a stripper clip pouch in the truck and in seconds you can have a ready to go firearm instead of rifles like AR15s where you would have to load the mags then put the mag in the gun i know in my state it isnt legal to have a full mag in your car but it is legal to have rounds on stripper clips in your car

What I'm about to say won't be very popular, but I don't keep a gun in my truck unless I'm not out hunting or transporting to a range. To me, it's just another opportunity for a criminal to break into my truck and steal it. I could imagine there would be exceptions to the rule but not often for me. The second place I don't leave guns will really get me torched on here. I don't leave a gun next to my bed either when I'm not home. What I mean is my carry gun becomes my home defense gun. When I leave the house that gun in the night stand is nothing but a liability. The truth is most B&E's happen during the day while people are at work. I also don't want to come home early to find someone in my house aiming my gun at me. The way I look at it, if I can defend myself in the street with my carry gun I can do it at home.

I don't think you'll get much disagreement with that second point. I'd say, if what you have in a bedside safe doesn't become your carry gun when you head out, then lock it up in a much more secure, larger safe.

Do what you want, its your life. Just don't preach to other people (I'm NOT saying you are) and you will be just fine. Truth is I could care less if my gun gets stolen out of my car. I will just buy a new one. Criminals don't need my gun to shoot people, they can get plenty of their own. Its worth it for me to take that risk. As far as a break in, same thing, worth it to me. Allah forbid I forge to pull that gun back out of the safe at night and that's the night I need it.

The FNH PS90 is not only a ideal "Truck Gun" it is an ideal Home Defense Gun for all of the reasons Eric mentioned. Another reason it is ideal for both applications is due to the fact that it isn't much louder than a .22LR when fired. It will not deafen one when fired indoors/Inside vehicle. The 5.7X28mm cartridge is effective. The U.S. Secret Service and multiple Protective Agencies all around the globe basically prove that. Also another reason is that the 5.7x28mm cartridge was designed to penetrate and cause lethal damage to "Soft" targets and yet at the same not over penetrate. There are a few different loads for 5.7x28mm available to the general public that have some varying results but ultimately they are all very effective at what they are designed to do. It is truly a Great little PDW hands down!

As other people have said, I don't think I'd want to take the risk of losing an expensive firearm all because some jerk decides to break into or steal my car. Because of that, I think an SKS would be a rather affordable rifle that, if it gets lost for some reason, isn't that difficult or expensive to replace.

Because only a dangerous gun nut would carry the 10mm, right? I mean a reasonable person would only carry a .38 , 9mm or .45 .

Lucky Americans, up here in Canada we can have a gun in the car, but it has to be unloaded and out of sight (and that's just for long-guns, it's nothing compared to the hoops they make you jump through to even own a pistol) so it wouldn't be useful in most situations to always have a gun in the car. Make sure you guys keep fighting gun control, if not the practice of having a truck gun will be no more. I'd like to see this channel do a video on Canadian gun laws, I'm sure this channel has plenty of Canadian fans like myself and it would be interesting to see how they react to the gun laws of their closest neighbor, they already did an episode on Australian gun laws so i don't see why not.

You're missing one other component. In an event you hope never occurs, you will be in court, civil and criminal, the more benign looking the firearm, the better for you. A Mini-14 and an AR-15 both fire a .223/5.56 round, yet the Mini looks more "harmless". Same with pistols, the Glock is used by many police agencies and lay people familiar, yet some exotic looking 9mm or .40's can get a slick attorney branding user as some psyco, blood thirsty gun nut. Remember ALL gun control efforts (and persecution of gun owners in a justified shooting) are based solely on emotional exploitation, not fact.

That's a very good point. These guys produce videos with rather exotic and expensive firearms, mainly because this generates video views. These guys are also gun vendors, so it's in their business interest to get people to desire expensive products. I happen to own several tricked out "tactical" firearms, but I wouldn't use any of them for self defense, for the reasons you mentioned. I use them as range toys only. It's noteworthy that anti gun legislators always ban the exotic looking firearms first, even if those same politicians allow plain looking firearms that mechanically function the same.

Dor Aran Very true. I'm Canadian, and live in a city so I don't carry anything while in the city. Can't carry handguns, but Rifles are legal. Just if I got pulled over with my non restricted Type 97. Which is legal. They will just be cocks, and take their time running you through the system, try lecturing you etc. You could be stuck there for 45 mins and after that, because my city is small. They will basically ride your ass for anything. Not all. Pull you over for not signalling in time etc. Happened to a friend who had a Tavor in his truck. But if it's a bolt action, they really won't say anything. I don't carry anything, basically cause I'm more worried about some punk up here stealing it. Which happens a lot. But when I'm out at the ranch, I'll carry whatever. The RCMP out there for the most part don't give a shit. But these young guys just entering the force are the problem. So,e of them come from a Liberal city where guns are evil and jump out of safes and shoot ppl on there own. So to avoid the hassle I always have a Tikka in 270 win behind the seat, with the mag in the cubby hole. Just for shooting yotes. Not legal to shoot yotes from a truck, but you won't find anyone complaining. Still some guys carry handguns out in Ranchland. When I was younger, my family always had a 357 or what joy in the glove box... But not no more. It sucks donkey balls.

The Tavor, KSG, Beneli and the PS90 are too expensive for putting in your vehicle, not to mention somewhat impractical. As far as the SBR, that's just dumb. I wish people would stop using the terminology of "truck gun" or "burner gun" for firearms to be left in vehicles. As a police officer for over 20 years, I have experienced so many problems with this philosophy. I am totally for the God given right of private citizens to carry firearms on their person and in their vehicles, but leaving a firearm in a vehicle when you're not present in that vehicle or have good dominion and control over it, is just stupid. Our officers get dispatched to firearms stolen out of vehicles at least once a week. Those firearms are now in the hands of criminals and being used in crimes. Why would any responsible person leave a firearm in a vehicle when they don't have control over the vehicle? People like that are arming criminals. Keep them in your residence. The rate of home burglaries is soooo much lower than that of thefts from vehicles. Just behind shoplifting in reported larceny occurrences. Please stop encouraging people to leave firearms in vehicles. It is stupid. Thank you.

As a 28yr FEd LEo I totally agree with you except for I thing that I'm finding out more and more everyday, alot of citizens work in an area that doesn't allow them to carry firearms on their person and their subject to termination if this is found out by their employer. They still have to work in a high-crime area and are subject to becoming victims, my solution, I tell the citizen to know the manual of arms for their firearm and before you leave you vehicle, take the slide with the barrel and recoil spring off the firearm and just leave the frame. Put the top half in your purse or bag or whatever and you legally and technically do not have a firearm on your person, yet, if your vehicle gets stolen the thug doesn't have a working firearm to commit a crime with as most of these dumb ass criminals don't even know how to break a pistol down yet alone build it back up. Just a thought.............................................................................

Back in Louisiana and Southeast Texas where my people are from, a "truck gun" was a weapon that packed a wallop and was in good mechanical order, but that one didn't mind rattling around on the floorboards of the old truck and getting a bit scuffed and banged up, and that if it got stolen it wouldn't represent the theft of a major asset. One thing you guys didn’t mention is the stagecoach! That was the original truck gun with one riding shotgun… with a shotgun. Short barreled rifles came about because robbers knew to put a gun in the drivers face for passenger couldn’t swing shotgun around without shooting driver 💯

Of course an idiot with his idiotic sarcasm. I'm just saying that even a .22 can kill a man so you shouldn't worry about small calibers just the placement. And a .223 is basically a .22 so you do get issued those. .223/.556 m4

when out hunting we always run around with our guns loaded but if we get pulled over we always let the law enforcement know we have loaded guns in the vehicle so they can feel safe when we are pulled over and most cops have really been appreciative of it too!

In PA you can not. Most states you can not. In PA without a ccw you can only transport to and from 5 locations. Gun range, hunting, ffl, secondary residence, and turn in location. And we are an open carry state.

With the times as they are, I go prepared all of the time. When I was in high school in the 60's everyone had a gun in their pickup, and a lot of people also had something in their car. Most guys had a .22lr semi-auto in their rear window gun rack in their pickup. When pheasant season rolled around their favorite shotgun would join it. Once there was a deer season, their deer rifle would replace the .22lr. AND WE NEVER LOCKED OUR VEHICLES.

This is fucking insane. From a UK citizen point of view, I have never stopped at a red light and thought "i could really use an SMG here in case someone tries to rob me". Jesus! However if I ever moved to the US I would for sure buy a shit load of guns

Look up blm protests and say that. That's like saying, from a US citizen's point of view, I couldn't imagine the police coming into my home to check to see if I have a tv permit to allow me to watch a soccer game. I can't imagine having to let a scumbag rape my wife/daughter/gf or face assault charges (or her letting it happen to avoid charges) for trying to stop him. That is really insane. Different country and rights, or lack thereof in your case.

Crockagater you seriously think that in the UK you couldn't intervene if someone was being raped for fear of prosecution? Where do you get your information on UK current affairs? Obviously from a reputable source right? Do you realise how unutterably stupid and uninformed your comment is? The mind boggles.

TheHortond ; Years back a city bus ran into a vehicle in front of it on the freeway. There was one young girl who was pinned in the vehicle. Many people tried to get her out without success. The vehicle caught fire . That poor girl was burned alive. I can still remember the guy who said he tried to get her out. He cried. No one had a fire extinguisher.

(Seriously... I love IV8888... but "truck guns?" For most folks, a PS90, Benelli, AK, Tavor, or maybe even KSG will be one of the nicest guns-- if not THE nicest gun in their collection. More like safe queen than truck gun... a real truck gun is something you pack onboard your vehicle, costs a few hundred bucks at MOST...so if it gets jacked, it's not a grand+ you're losing... and ya don't care if it gets bashed around, dirty, fired and not cleaned, or borrowed by a friend...and that can put hit roadkill out of suffering. Truck gun: Mossberg 500 or Mav88 or any cheap pump, KelTec Sub2K...maybe an SU-16... a cheap WASR/Polish/Yugo AK, a Del-Ton, Olympic or DPMS AR... a Hi-Point Carbine... any number of Savage bolts, Marlin 30-30s, or used beat up Mini-14 or M1 .30Carbine junkers... truck guns. 🤓)
