It looks like a 1960's factory, very few precision tools, no automation, but there is a hammer at every station... That said, I love Urals, but the engines are ruff as old boots.

I feel at the time that I am seeing this to what we have now the people has came way up on the durability foe the US most Russia peoples I that I can see on internet are very very hard working and able to repair or solve most problems. I think the Ural gear up is the greatest . I don't care for super modern car, trucks the Ural is all purpose get to work, go to woods to hunt great machine. I hope all the workers that build them know that they make someone happy that can afford that fine machine. THANK YOU FOR VIDEO.

Вы не понимаете. Урал это рабочая лошадка. Никакая ямаха с места нетронится с тонной. :) А на урал можно нагрузить сколько хочешь и он "пых-пых-пых" и поедет! И потом. Ему пофигу на чем ездить. :) Хоть на спирте : D

But can we really measure the internal happyness that a person in Russia has when he buy one of this motorcycles after saving his hard earned money for long time ,, to the same emotions when we buy here a motorcycle with a credit line that is just a signature in a paper and that many times we never end up paying,, no I guess we can not,,, after all who lives the happiest is what it counts ,,think about it . I read the different comments comparing Ural and BMW and I think is wrong to do that, we can agree that the factory is in the 40's and all of that but the Ural is unique in its own sense right from the start, factory and all ,, is a total different philosophical approach to motorcycling and life in every aspect,in every piece, how is made and its purpose,here in the west we have been made to believe that speed, volume,performance, visual impact is what makes a winner, so we believe that.

The factory seems like a very unhappy place. Why can't Irbit clean the place up and paint the walls some bright colors? White lab coats with caps every morning at least. Russian workers must still be expendable.

Surely you shouldn't need to hammer in the camshaft THAT hard at 3.30? And how many 'pilgrims' came away with eye problesm after looking at the arc welder at 6.38? Apart from that very interesting.

@WHYNOTMEB4U Sorry, but I've worked on and ridden a few of both, the harley wasn't made as an off road bike, and I've come across a few Urals that have been run down highways. The old iron barrel 650 couldn't take anything over 55 for more than a little bit before coming apart.Harleys are some of the best built bikes I've seen, just the engineering leaves a lot to be desired.

@bukach02 I guess so long as You've never known any other bike.I've worked on a few of the older iron barrel 650's,and the hardware looked like it had been made with a chinese tap and die set. The new ones are much better, but there's no way it's the best bike in the world,not by a longshot.

Bullshit, my Ural does 90-100 mph without hesitation over and over again it's a 77' and it's a 750cc, these things are tough as tanks. They where originally made for the soviet army.Urals (pre-80"s) if you ever go to Germany are seen going 100-120 down the autobahn regularly I know, this is where I live. Harleys are overpriced pieces of crap. Im an American and I had my fair share of Harley's and I have to say from long experience, Urals can and will take a pounding that a harley can never take.
