I've been watching some of your videos, and practicing status balance, but after this current tutorial, what a game changer. I went from highly inconsistent... to now holding balance for over a minute, even 2-minute balance. I'm a short rider 5'2" on a 500 KTM, so I wanted to thank you for all these tips. It's a practice for sure, but it's going to help with my favorite single tracks rides in Colorado.

Similar to Mark myself, I considered lowering my dirt bike. After riding standing up all the time and on the pegs as much as possible, I'm glad I did not lower it, no need. I treasure every inch of suspension while at speed through the sand whoops.

Most important thing I learned from RL, Practice. Been working on 5" and 8" logs for months. Just started working on 11" log. Practice. Over and over again. If you want to get good at this, you have to practice, especially what you're not good at. Practice. Repetition. There's no substitute.

This is a very good approach to training the balance. Following the video, I immediately proceeded to throw my Crock on, and hopped on my MTB bike in the garage. It is not easy with the tires on garage's floor, but I definitely see the purpose in this exercise. Also (you're right) the opposite foot is just as difficult. Tomorrow, I will take my ADV motorcycle and try in the local mountains. Great job, and thank you!

Even though I have watched your other static balance vid's and have put in numerous 30 minute sessions, I learned in this video to weight the opposite peg in reference to where the bars are turned. Maybe you mentioned it in past vid's but I never picked up on that. Will try that tomorrow. I still can't master it on concrete but then again, I don't ride on concrete 😂What I have noticed, is that since I have gotten better at static balance, my balance on the trail in techi sections has soared!! Thanks

I have been working on static balance on my CRF250L for about 9 months. I can balance for over a minute with front wheel in a hole in gravel. On grass or concrete I can balance for about 6 seconds. Any suggestions you can give me to get past this barrier. I practice about 5 days a week for about 15 minutes on static balance. I keep blaming the heavier bike but I am sure it is me. Thanks for any suggestions.
@Jackalope_Outdoors11 ай бұрын
@user-lv7fj3ev2l Hey, yeah, I was really surprised I was able to get it that quickly, so just make sure you're following all the tips starting out. Make sure you're slightly downhill with the front tire in a hole, bars turned one way, and weight forward as you stand up. Making sure you're starting on the correct foot in relation to the direction your handle bars are turned towards makes a big difference as well. Also, for me, being well rested and calm helped me get it quickly. Though I'm sure it would take me longer right now to get balanced since I haven't been riding as much lately with this Illinois winter. Hope this helps! Keep practicing, and you'll get it!

Actually I find when you’re first learning, it’s much better to look just passed your front fender. This allows you to see which way your bike is moving out of your peripheral vision. As you get better looking up comes with comfort. Looking up is much more challenging for beginners.

My wife and I learned the basics of static balance last winter in our basement after seeing that exact video. She was struggling at first so in addition to airing her tires down, we put the bike on an old rug. It made a huge difference, giving her some extra bite on the front tire. She was making strides in no time. Give it a try!

Mark is an amazing athlete. People in the comments seem to disagree. I tried this today and it’s really, really hard. I can do it on a push bike, I used to race kayaks (20 years ago) and I thought I had pretty good left right balance (front back I’m terrible). This is really, really hard. The quad strength, the core engagement, you need strong legs, strong core and good cardio to keep doing it over and over. Mark absolutely destroys these drills.
