IREAD 3 in Second Grade

Starting in Spring 2025, all 2nd grade students will be required to take the IREAD-3 assessment, regardless of their special education or language status. This video explains the purpose of the test, which evaluates reading skills typically mastered by the end of 3rd grade, and details what it means for students to score as “Pass,” “On Track,” or “At Risk.” It also covers how IREAD-3 serves as a checkpoint for 2nd graders, providing extra support for those who need it before retaking the test in 3rd grade. Additionally, we’ll outline the flow of results and how they impact students’ progression to 4th grade.
