When you look at both halves from an Irish perspective....really good by Ireland in the first and really good by Argentina in the second so a below average performance overall by Ireland and we were lucky to squeak a win and Argentina were unlucky not to win or even get a draw...it was that close. Lots of work for AF to do here but at least we are seeing the creaks in Autumn 2024 so plenty of time to put things right. No.1 is discipline. No.2 is line outs. Positive green shoots are Prendergast, Clarkson and Osborne. They played really well when they came on. Something is not quite clicking in Team Ireland right now but I reckon they will get it right. Bravo to Los Pumas for making it a battle right to the end. They are a brilliant team. Also congrats to Cian Healy for matching BO'Ds record. He's a feckin' legend!!

Really liking the Argie's. They don't have a proud historic legacy of rugby behind them spanning a century. They only have their love of country and a belief in their team and themselves. And they are still on the rise, being competitive with any other team in the world. Respect.

Our rugby clubs and our rugby union goes as far the 19th century. What we didn't have was a regular international competition to put ourselves to the test. With the Rugby championship we had a tournament to learn from the best. Many football clubs in the early 20th century had also rugby. But football had a great development, and rugby was kept for the elites. Now its slowly becoming more popular. Wil see what happen in another 10 years of top challenge.

There are a few others that need another year maybe. Osborne is only a little over a year older than Pendergast. And his brother looks pretty handy too. Hope Izzy gets a chance next week.

It's just a matter of time before the Puma beats Ireland at home. AB wins in Ireland are in double figures. Ireland knows what their challenge is. They've been to the top. Staying there is the lesson of the day. Puma is tough.

Ridiculous statement , what lesson , no team can win every game, SA , NZ France Ireland all the top teams lose games, every team dips for a while, bedding new players , lose players ,changes in coaches, it’s not Irelands job to stay number one for eternity, Ireland like all teams will rotate around the rankings. Even the mighty SA have had months of dips and falling down the rankings

Ireland used to be so stingy about giving penalties away. It's really ruining them.

Ireland lack the creativity, leadership/initiative on the pitch to change it up when the conditions or game demands it. They need to revive the intelligence and game management that they ha before and then they're not forcing their game.....ie giving penalties and errors to the opposition.

The Pumas have definitely arrived at the top table in 2024. They can no longer be treated with anything but the utmost respect. Note: This team was not at full strength and they didn’t really get moving. When the Pumas throw the ball around they can be frighteningly good but that hardly happened in this game. Ireland won but it was so close. Big respect to the Pumas!

Above anything else our discipline nearly cost us a match. If Ireland didn't concede so many penalties that would have been a more comfortable ride.

Ireland clearly seem to be a team in decline at the moment. There success, in the last few years, has been based on domination possession. This has been generated through relentless continuity in phase play but also very reliable set pieces. Currently, they appear to be weak in the scrum and, despite effectively stacking it with three locks, their lineout is unreliable. They also have very little impact from the bench. Their lack of possession is why they are committing more infringements at the breakdown and being penalised more. This is a complete reversal to how they used to pressure their opponents. Argentina built their attack well and defended their line very well in the second half - but they missed out in the final result due to game management issues and some discipline issues of their own. They also had at least one try disallowed which they really needed at critical moments.

It's more the start of the season and the SH teams well through theirs. Ireland will be better in the next 2games I think. Furlong badly missed for Ireland.

With Felix Jones waiting in the wings wouldn't it be funny if Farrell resigns and Borthwick resigns and Jones becomes Ireland Coach and Farrell, England's. There the balance of the Universe is restored.

Referee was really bad, the scrum refereeing was atrocious and beyond belief, but you put up with that but it’s plain wrong. So long to call a head on head ..
