Hooray new players! Just goes to show how bloody hard it is to get on this team. Delighted for sammy and argentina is a terrific side to break your cap on. Hes young yes, but very skilled and honed already by the leinster academy machine. Clarky too, we are so overdue with prop development and hes a great player to test out. Welcome, Pumas!

Argentina are really flying under the radar. They won in NZ, SA and thumped the Wallabies. The Argies have never feared Ireland.

The bench seems the best option that could be picked. Giving Baird, Prendagast and Casey the minutes they need, and keeping POM adds the right amount of experience. Still hoping Cian Prendagast gets a nod this autumn though, need to see him playing international

No, could’ve included Cormac for outright ability or Timoney for balance of experience and power (had better statistics at 6 last season than Beirne and Baird if remaining 5/3 instead of POM). Would call up Loughman and Jager if fit, good for Clarkson, but particularly Loughman, despite Healy equaling BOD or not, Loughman is solid in the scrum, doing well bar loose defence in opening URC matches. He is physical and resilient. Have Heffernan instead of Herring as well, far better form. Bench Beirne as he’s tired and lacking some punch. Him for 35 minutes refreshed would be more effective. Bundee is declining so to lack of play time, give Stu a chance for replacement gain line power, place Jamie at 15 to adapt to new rules and importance of aerial battle, place Hugo at 14. Call up Ben Murphy to challenge Casey who is too impulsive.

POM is a waste of space.

For 15 mins, Grady looked to be offering everything wales have been missing in attack off the wing… I think you’re right, the lack of size and power in the backline is now worrying! I’ll be there anyway to support the boys in Cardiff

Glad to see Murray and Henderson gone. Not sure what POM is still doing there, is there a garden that needs tending? Bit harsh on Frawley but he did have a shocker. If he continues to play well at Leinster I can see him working his way back in.

You don't rate the players outside Leinster and have no forgiveness. Plenty of Leinster players were poor on the day. Frawley was a horror show when he came on. You're right. He needs to work to get back in. He'll never play that bad again. Farrell picks the team, and I trust him to get it right. It's funny how it's harsh on the worst performance I've seen at 10 for 20 years and not harsh getting rid of all the non Leinster players.

Murray was instrumental in SA. Scored a try in both tests. Henderson has always played at the same level. Big ball carrier, decent LO option but knocks on the ball more than he should. The penalty against him last weekend was harsh. He released the player and then re-engaged but ref claimed he never released. Frawley was awful when he came on but Prendergast hasn't done anything to show he can play at this level despite the non stop hype from Leinsterfans. POM is there because he's still considered better than the other options. Ireland just don't have the same strength in depth as sides like SA and NZ...

I think Plumtree was dropped becasue the official stats showed he had 9 carries for 1m. You cant have your 6 carry for one metre in a test match

Id have started POM because beirne looks knackered to me, guy deserves a break imo. Hoping to see our attack show some variety and edge under goodman as new attack coach, early doors for him but plenty to improve on there!

You're worried about Nicky Smith on the bench? That surprised me.

I can't understand why Cian Prendergast is not selected?

Either him or Timoney instead of POM. POM is just useless at this stage of his career.

😊Agree, we should be using these games to give game time to form players like Cian Predergast, not playing it safe.

All hype so far from Leinsterfans. Reminds me of when the same people were saying Jordan Larmour would be world class. lol. I've seen plenty of Prendergast and I don't see him passing out Crowley any time soon. Crowley is very well rounded- dangerous in attack, good kicking game, game management, and a strong defender.

Some of the Ireland u20 players coming through have ludicrous skillsets. I’m an England fan but I would say the recent Irish age groups (including this most recent year’s) are better than England’s.

If they are under 20 now that means only about 6 more years before they get an Ireland cap...

Ireland’s selections are also conservative. They pick older players who are on central contracts for far too long thus denying their up and coming players. They should do like France, SA and NZ who pick players on form and believe in ‘if they are good enough they are old enough’. Of the oldies: Henderson should have been dropped year’s ago. O’Mahony is lucky to be there. Healy is there because of a belief we have no LH’s that are good enough. Murray is a tad unlucky as he has been playing well. He is replaced by Casey who is first choice and starter at their club team.
