Very sad. I just heard about her passing. She passed away earlier today (Nov. 26, 2022). Yes, as the others have written, Irene Cara will live forever through her music. As she also sang in this song (between about 2:30 and 2:40) “I’m going to make it to heaven… I’m going to light up the sky…” I’m sure she made it to heaven today and she is now lighting up the sky, as she gains her wings and joins the heavenly choir. With the arrival of Irene Cara, singers Judith Durham and Olivia Newton-John will have some more elite company now. Three definitely big losses in the world of music in 2022.

I grew up on this song thinking it was corny because of the show. How I was truly wrong. Irene's voice is pure power. Now I really appreciate it. Neil Jason is laying down the funky bass track. Elliott Randall does the guitar solo just like he did for Steely Dan. David Spinozza plays guitars on this as well !!!! Rob Mounsey is another studio legend on Keys. The stuff we don't know, well it's a banger for me now.

The song with Irene is a personal favourite, as is this by Yngwie Malmsteen from the mid-1980s kzbin.info/www/bejne/roCXkIijnc14bLM Lyrics: Born with the fire in my blood, Can't live without it. Something that gold can never buy. It doesn't matter who you are, Or what your thinking, If you believe in what you try. Feel the fire, Your burning desire. Fire, I'm burning up with fire Fire, feel it burning higher If you are rich, or if you are poor, There is no difference, It's still in what you're fighting for. If you are strong you will survive, You'll feel the fire, Burning on forever more. Feel the fire Your burning desire Fire, I'm burning up with desire You never play with fire. Fire, I'm burning up with desire You never play with fire.

RIP Irene. May the afterlife be as wonderful as your earthlife. You were a love that I had in my early teens and wanted nothing more than to meet you. I had a poster hanging up in my bedroom closet hoping just one day to say hi to you. I loved this song and thought you were amazingly beautiful. You're in God's hands now and will be missed by many... 🙏

It was on the radio this afternoon, that I learned of her death.I am very saddened to learn of this.I always loved Irene Cara, she had a tremendous voice, she was an amazing talent. Her vocal prowess was up there with other african american singers like Whitney Huston,Patti Labelle,Frida Payne,Lola Falana and all others.I'm going to miss her.John M Guinto
