The big record labels tried to cheat her then she got blackballed because she fought back
@danlivni20972 жыл бұрын
@@nastypiglosi1788 Irene Cara was blackballed in the Music industry by David Geffen. Irene sued him for $10 million in unpaid royalties on her hit songs. It took years to reach a settlement, and during that time she spent all of the little money she had on lawyer fees, leaving her broke. The suit slowed her music career to a halt since she wasn’t recording any new material. Over the years Irene Cara has claimed in interviews that she was blacklisted in the music industry. The word around town was that she was difficult to work with, so nobody wanted to hire or collaborate with her. She claims this was related to the lawsuit. It was David Geffen behind these lies about Irene, cause she sued him. If you get a chance, read "HIT MEN," by Fredric Dannen. He talks all about David Geffen. Irene wasn't the only one he screwed over. There were a number of recording artists (David Crosby, Neil Young, Elton John, Sammy Hagar, just to name a few) who wanted to personally strangle that POS

Definitely, my all time, best song and singer of the 80's. Irene Cara's voice is breathtaking and I just love how she increases/decreases the tone of her voice according to the notes vocally. This song and her voice are a perfect match. No one could have possibly sung it better then what she did and has been doing. She also exhibits amazing raw talent! If this song doesn't inspire or motivate you to shoot for your hopes and dreams with passion and emotion, then I don't know what will. On a different note: It's heartbreaking and ironic that some of the lyrics used in the song mirrored Ms Cara's real life. Yet, the song was written before those events transpired. For instance, the line "All alone I have cried, silent tears full of pride" can be referred to the treatment the record companies handled her professional career, early on. They wouldn't pay royalties to this exceptional, outstanding women. I wouldn't want to describe what she must have gone through.

My favourite song and singer of all time. I love her more than any other female artist. It's 2006 and she still sings the song just like she first sang it back in 1983. I'm always in awe of her. Love you always Irene. May you rest in peace.
