Thorough review. I purchased a 6 Plus and have really enjoyed all the features. I do have a comment/complaint....I just received the rear rack form Rad, and I found it to be inferior quality. The rack would not mount squarely with the tire and fender, which are both perfectly centered. The left side of the rack touched the fender, and there was no solution except to return it to Rad. Just a heads-up to Rad and any future buyers. All in all, a great bike and review by you guys.

The Radrover 5 with the real 750w bafang motor/ upgrade kit makes it awesome as the Radrover 6 They have 750w bafang front motors that are plug and play with the 35amp controller upgrade, so you can make your Radrover 5 or 6 an AWD duo motor hill crusher...

Wonderful review. I have a competitor’s model (Himiway Cruiser) that is fun but not as refined as this new Rad. Unfortunately after 1000 miles this summer I crashed during a moment of inattention and broke my shoulder. My helmet saved my head. So please be careful and keep using your helmet!

A note on rider height. The important measurement isn't total height - it's the inseam measurement. I'm also 5'7", but have a 27-28" inseam. This usually results in a top bar height that interferes with certain body parts at stops. Another issue is that with age comes a loss of flexibility and balance. Getting a leg over a top bar isn't always easy. Or successful.

Yeah we got lucky as these are our first eBikes and we brought same bikes in your video. RadRover 6 plus and my wife wanted the RadCity 5 plus cuz she'll never do back roads or anything over 14 mph. But for me when I ride alone, it's on!! LOL We did get extra batteries too and a large Rad back rack to carry things like my new Abus lock with wifi and alarm. It was over $200 but our bikes are worth it. Looks we got in on this ebike train at a good time. 15 days I've owned my RadRover6+ and Im already at 400 miles! Thanks for the great info

GREAT comparison! VERY informative. We bought 2 Magicycle ebikes(about the time you posted this vid) One white step thru for my 5'-4 wife & one step over for me. She has been struggling with her bike as the mount & dismount has been challenging and frankly unsafe!( bike fell over once - these are heavy). Going to be selling hers and looking to purchase the RadRover 6 plus. Seems to check all the boxes we did not realize when buying the Magi. The Magi is an excellent bike (for me) but will not accommodate a smaller height person. The "walk" feature was nice on our Magi's so glad you mentioned Rad has it too.

Hello Chris and Aaron! This was a really great comprehensive comparison between the 2 models! Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. As we've chatted before, we'll migrate towards some ebikes at some point. I really need to get my wife with on one of my SoCal trips and we specifically dedicate some time to test ride a few. I've been on the Rad Bikes in San Diego, the Juiced Bikes in San Diego, and the E-Luxe bikes here in L.A. The E-Luxe were the most comfortable, by quite a bit (to us). The Juiced had great torque and such. And, I liked more of all of the Rad Fleet as compared to any other make. My wife gets bad wrists on a regular mountain bike position, so I do feel that it would be preferred that she get a comfortable one. However, we'll just focus on getting our travel trailer going and set up. So, I'll shelve the ebike concept for a bit. Safe travels!

The rear racks I've seen that can handle several Rad ebike weights with a large buffer are motor dirt bike racks or Quik Rack Mach 2 from QuikrStuff with a 2" hitch. Dirt bike racks are way cheaper; but, extremely bulky, need tools to install, and you need straps for the ebikes. Quik Rack Mach 2 is fall off a log simple to use, can fold for compact storage, no extra parts needed for up to 5" fat tires, and no tools to install or remove (just a barrel key). Quik Rack just has a long wait period of weeks/months and +$1200 for 2" dual rack system that can hold 240lbs total (300lbs for triple 2" rack, 180lbs total for 4 racks because of the length).

The Aventure just roasts the Rover. No comparison whatsoever. Rad had a chance to make real improvements, to try to catch up with Aventon, but they've failed miserably. Aventon stole major market share from Rad in 2021. Even more in 2022. Rad's on dangerously thin ice, especially with their price increases. Rad will be relegated to the dung hole, of also ran ebikes, of which there are more than 300 on the market that they will get to compete with, and mostly lose. Now they no longer have low price to tout. Just woefully outdated high priced junk. Kind of like Natko or Ecotric or Addmotor.

The thing is, there was never a 750W motor in the 5 and all the other Rads. It’s just a 500W motor. The 6 should now have a 750W motor. For what it is, the 6 is well overpriced and lost this special off road look. Compared to other companies like Aventon or Himiway, Rad has fallen far behind. To bring a new bike with the same capacity as five years ago, doesn’t make it better.

Thanks for your baseless opinion
@Benjamin_Jehne2 жыл бұрын
@@bobdurow6822 It’s not baseless, it was mentioned by several of the big review channels. Rad advertised the max output as the nominal output. Now the next point, the 500W and the 750W motor share the same housing, so owner of Rad bikes swapped the internals, which are way smaller than these from the 750W version. If you’re intrested, search for citizen cycle an look for the video where he converted the bike from the 500W to the 750W. Or just google the topic. If you’re done with it and you’re still think it‘s baseless, I can’t help you.

600 miles in over one year. That's less than 2 miles per day or less than 10 miles per week. Think about that.

Yes, good break down. We don't ride daily as we travel a lot at times, but once a week or so we like to get out and feel the breeze! 🙂

Rad's massive cash burn rate, wasting all sorts of VC funding, but not only not gaining on anyone, but losing market share is going to be their quick undoing. Too many employees doing basically nothing at Rad. Heavy bloat. Payroll way to large.

@@sdflyer1672 Go peddle your blowhard ego elsewhere. rad is the crap. Its going to go under faster than it came about. Bloated company funded by Vulture capital. Those businesses FAIL every single time, when the VC's dont know jack squat about the industry they through money at. I've been on dozens of these VC calls, and they are mind boggingly clueless. No surprise rad was chosen by one of the weaker ones.

I added the Cascade Manufacturing Bottle Cage Mounting Bracket to my wife's Radcity 5 Plus and she now has two water bottle mounts. She also has a water bottle mount on her Topeak MTX DXP rack bag.

Half hour wasted from my life... Other than better feeling brakes, why didn't you compare potentially the most important change -- how they both handle?? From website pics, steering head angle appears to be drastically changed on the 6. Coupled with a longer wheelbase, these should feel like completely different bikes. Sorry to be harsh b/c your vid and editing is great, but geez you didn't cover much more than any salesman can in a showroom.

Shameless advertisement.

What do you mean by that?
@leonardjeffreys15462 жыл бұрын
@@IreneIronTravels The video would be more relevant if you were comparing the Rad Rover to another competitor's product. I'm not anti Rad Rover, in fact I own one of the first ones sold in the USA. But the video comes across as an advertisement and frankly that doesn't seem to fit your channel.

I think we have different definitions of "shameless advertisement". We are proud affiliates of Rad Power Bikes and they go perfect with our lifestyle and channel. We are here to share our personal opinions and share our lifestyle with others interested in it. And that includes e bikes that we use and travel fulltime with.

Rad's about to get its butt kicked by Aventon. 1st week of January, Aventon's new model is going to rake Rad over the coals. Just like the Aventure kicked the Rad Rover's behind, the new Aventon model is going to ROAST the Mission. The Rad Mission will look obsolete, primitive, and UNGAINLY (as are all of Rad's models), compared to the new Aventon. There is not enough VC funding on the planet, to rescue Rad from the coming onslaught. Bye bye Rad.
@specialist-in-tech2 жыл бұрын
Rad got its BUTT kicked so badly this past year by Aventon's Aventure, with their sales of their Rad Rover 6 being so pathetic, they have had to drop the price a WHOPPING $700. Unreal ! Nobody cuts prices like that in this high demand market, unless your ebike model is selling horribly.
