A cold engine will always vibrate more. Try it with the iradium first and then platinum.

What you should be using as a test measurement is the knock sensor voltage which will also show you the engine roughness

Good point. Temperature of the incoming air could be a variable too. Been looking for other ways to use that knock sensor information besides measuring different fuels from various gas stations.

If you are not driving a luxury or performance car, it's like regular gas vs premium gas. It doesnt matter which type you use. you don't really gain much from Iridium on an average car.

I think there is a better way of testing this. Although it does require tapping into the DME's readings. At the dealer, we have access to call ECU functions and use read engine smoothness values. Might be hard to replicate at home. Personally I wouldn't worry about this too much, the spark plugs are working as they should. Just change them after a couple of years to prevent the plugs from getting stuck in the head and potential misfires.

Engine smoothness test is full of shit. I have a problem with fuel trims and all I was told is - its all OK. But Bank1 is 0 and Bank2 is -8. And there is always 8 between banks. B1 +4 b2 -4.

Copper core in everything, here, because it conducts electricity better than the higher temp metals.

All spark plugs have a copper core. Only the tip electrode is platnium or iridum. Copper is soft and erodes quickly. Even your normal copper plugs have a nickel alloy tip so they'll last 20-30k Miles. Back in the day doing plugs every 15-20k miles was routine with conventional copper plugs. It's better now that they use a nickel alloy tip for them.

B.s. the length of gap and coil frequency determines the spark heat and frequency. Further more length of wires determines resistance( longer wire means more resistance while shorter wire equals less). Really all your wires should be the same length

Yes I personally have NGK Laser Iridium in a supercharged Toyota Previa and man o man did that engine purred like a kitten. Yes when these Iridium plugs used especially in performance engines, you will notice better power and slightly better fuel economy. I have even used Iridum IX in a 93 Toyota Corolla and the engine runs stronger.

I happen to own this vehicle. Before 2000 Toyota recommended splitfire platinum spark plugs. With the engine change in 2000, they recommended iridium after that. Since my 1999 has a 2000 engine I accidentally recommended based on OEM iridium to him, but he still has a 1998 or 1999 engine in his. On the left side of your engine there should still be a sticker which recommends the exactly correct spark plug for your engine. I even have a video about it. Search my KZbin. :)

Your data is fucked mate... Actually u want the count to be higher!! The lower count is deactivating your injectors and causing miss fires lol... I can explain to you why Iridium over Platinum if you like, however, in a Beammer check your car's resistor count on the spark plug and what's actually required... Honestly with BMW you may just want to go with OEM vs the performance plugs, because you can create all types of problems with your engines on the long run if the car is off by the smallest integer. Be carful that the after market plug is not actually doing what the OEM plug is suppose to.

@@813RiC i put the ngk iradium order from Rockauto on my 06 forester 5 speed mt and the gas mileage was wonderful. Highway states at 27 and i got 26 for overall driving half highway half city. I was very impress. I will put it on my 2010 tacoma and see if it helps cause i am currently getting very bad gas mileage i think the plugs r either old or not efficient, will see about my 00 outback too.
