I have the old school Merthiolate for antiseptic and fire starting. I use the small baby diaper disposal bags as they are cheap and scented. I use them over my socks but under my shoes to keep my feet dry. I also use them to clean my clothes with a little soap and water swished around in the bag. I dump out the soapy water and do a quick rinse in the bag then I hang them up to dry. I recycle containers for indoor hydroponic gardening.

I keep extra containers of raw honey and granulated cane sugar for medical purposes. Both can be used as an alternative to triple antibiotic ointment to keep cuts, scrapes and open blisters from getting infected by bacteria (use after the wounds are cleaned and before they are bandaged). I would only use the honey on someone older than age 2 years and who did not have a compromised immune system. But cane sugar could be used on anyone. Both honey and sugar can store indefinitely -- or as long as the container will last -- when stored in a cool, dry, vermin-free pantry.

Good video. If you add white vinegar to the salt it works even better for removing rust. Thanks for the information.

Tea bags are excellent for stopping gum bleeding. The tannins acts as a coagulalent. Wet them hot water squeeze out and apply. FY I- Recently my 90 year old father had his remaining teeth pulled. He bled profusely. We had been advised by a fellow patient to use a wet tea bag. They worked very quickly and kept us out of the emergency room.

when I trained at Dugway Proving Ground, our instructor said not to use generic bleach but only use Clorox unscented. Their lab had tested every brand available and discovered that Clorox was the only brand that was consistently 5 1/4% sodium hypochlorite. that is the only active ingredient in bleach. Some generics might be 1%. They actually purchased it off the shelf at Wally World in Tooele, Utah. That was the nearest town to the base.

If you're looking for hobo fishing cord I'd be suggesting making cordage from a plastic bottle personally. There's loads of videos on here on how to do it. Quite handy stuff on the garden too. I use it for climbing plants and training plants like tomatoes

I used the smaller $2 cone coffee filters to make moisture absorbers by putting a little bit of dry rice in them, folded them closed and stapled then shut

If you have little ones, you can use old adult clothes to make clothes. I used to do it when I was raising my nieces and nephews.

Love your homemade stove. And never thought about even looking at compactor bags! Have plenty of the thicker kind to the kind we use now that are not that thick. TY! We also have saved a good amount of the very, very thick plastic that comes over our pallets of pellets for our pellet stoves...just in case :).

I would stick with the contractor trash bags. They are 3mil versus the 2.5mil. At 42 gallon versus the typical 18 gallon I find them to be more versatile.

@@longshot7601 TY :) So maybe the 18 gal good for smaller things here and there.

@@taunyaw2181 For me is partially about carrying the fewest number of different items as possible so versatility is key. You can always cut down a large bag if needed. Also the dark color is helpful if what I'm putting in the bag needs to be hidden. Surprisingly I've also used the dark color of contractor bags as a solar water still.

Home Depot in my area (OKC) has the spray bottles of the liquid hand sanitizer for .25 cents and the refill gallon jug for $2.50. Just know it is the liquid kind and not the gel kind. Strong alcohol smell!
