Bob Barker earned my forever admiration when he fought to stop the use of fur coats on Price is Right. He is truly a hero for the animal cause.
@mikehall94684 жыл бұрын
Patrick. The elimination of the use of seal fur in clothing was certainly a positive move to stop the brutal killing of baby seals that were killed solely just their fur pelts. However when the EU presented this as a total ban on fur it also had a negative impact for our northern Inuit population. The Inuit hunt seals as a food source and they responsibly use the whole animal to support themselves. The fur pelts they did not use for clothing were sold to generate an income which was used to buy fuel, ammunition, snow machines, and other materials to support themselves. I really never gave this much thought myself until my daughter became a teacher on a small island for a 600 person Inuit community. As we followed her time teaching there she would often tell of students who would miss school days because they were “out on the land” helping to hunt for food for the family. Thank-you Paws for rescuing these beautiful, deserving animals. An update would, indeed be appreciated. Also, many of us are wondering if you've had a chance to check into the possibility of rescuing an elephant with plight addressed on Facebook. A woman sought your help not too long ago regarding the featuring of her picture and name on youtube in an effort to raise awareness of her suffering among global citizens, hence, donations for rescue. The elephant's name is Mai and she too is chained, hurting and lonely. Please!!! Let us know if you can or have already helped her so, if necessary, a funding venue can be set up for her. I'm praying that the outcome for Mai will be so positive that photo, name and bio of each elephant in need will be routinely posted on KZbin so as to raise awareness of their plight among the millions of folks to whom Facebook is, for whatever reason, unappealing. Blessings, always.

The moneys damaged my grandpas radio antenna, so we never went back again. Growing up in the 70's zoo's and aquariums were everywhere, even then i knew it was wrong. The only zoo my kids have ever been to is the baby lambs, bunnies and goats petting and grooming zoo's of the temporary kind which pop u around easter on local farms. The kids get to pet the animals and learn about local farm animals and their care. Who doesn't want to brush a week old baby lamb?!!

I read an article recently that said Bob Barker is fading fast. I think he has developed Failure to Thrive and just doesn’t want to keep living without his wife who died several years ago. All these sanctuaries that Bob supports will feel the money pinch when he passes. Betty White, another animal supporter, is also quickly fading. I don’t know if there are other, younger Hollywood people who will step up and carry the torch. For these animals’ sakes I hope someone does.

It is so terrible what humans have done to elephants worldwide. I hope for the day all elephants will be released from captivity and moved to sanctuaries like this one. And I hope in the years to come that the elephants will always be safe and secure in these sanctuaries. Because of changes in governments, elections and so forth, recessions, in a human world it always affects the natural world and the animals.

They have spend their whole life having someone dictate what they were supposed to do......now all of a sudden they can do what they want. They probably feel lost. They have not developed the skills necessary to cope with freedom. I hope they have or bring in an animal psychologist to help. These elephants are a lot different from the other video. In the other video the elephants were running around squealing, jumping around in the river and having a good old time.

I am coming to this a good number of years down the line. I think, from this footage, it is safe to say that these Ellie's are all enjoying the new found freedoms they have now. The zoo model does not work on large foraging animals such as elephants as they world normally travel large distances on search of food/water. From that perspective where these babies are now should suit their needs better. Let's focus our attention now on getting Lucy free from Edmonton zoo where the 'general practitioner' vets associated with the zoo are still refusing to release her to sanctuary saying she is too ill - no she bring in too many tourists and dollars. 😡

This is the retirement that all elephants in captivity in zoos, circuses etc deserve. For those incapable of reading the description and freaking out about the size of the space, they are being slowly introduced to an 80 !!! acre piece of land. Why don't you take out your hostility on the people profiting off the suffering and enslavement of these magnificent creatures instead of leaving nasty comments on this channel's videos. I am glad to see this place is here. It needs more generous rich people to get involved to stop the suffering of these animals.
