Rocker, writer and publisher Iris Berry shares her story of growing up in Pacoima and heading to Hollywood for a life of music, poetry and fun! She was a member of the Lame Flames during the 1980s and joined the Ringling Sisters later on, eventually going solo and becoming a writer and founder of her own publishing company, Punk Hostage Press. Along the way she had adventures on films like "Less Than Zero," became a friend and contemporary of bands like Guns N Roses, and she shares it all with me here!

I was raised in Arleta from 69-‘71, which is now called Pacoima. We survived that earthquake at Sylmar, and soon enough moved to Orange County by ‘72. I had no idea Richie Valens was from there.

Every single thing that Iris said about the internet is 100 per cent true - she articulated for me why I find the times we are currently living in so toxic.

The club I remember that Baba did her Sunday jam night at was The Shamrock in Silverlake in the early 90s. I rarely missed it - so much fun!

Bravo and encore ✨ Life was so much more free and simple in the 80's and yes, including parking, rent and the cost of living. Before the negative effects of globalization greed destroyed communities. Weird to think of our youth as history, but it was great. Would love to see Iris and Pleasant interviewed together and great to hear a "Disgraceland" book is in the works 💜 Even I have a couple disgraceland stories, so many did 🥳
