Reminds me of my Irish nan. She'd blast stuff like this out of her little radio, in her little flat, in london. Good Times.

I tapped along so briskly that there is now a hole in me oak floor. T'was worth it. I'm about a third Irish, so I don't know if that is the reason I love this music. Whatever the reason, it makes my heart sing, and my feet start a movin'. Well done, m' lady.

"Reelly" inspiring. she played the reel at 102 bpm, a perfect speed for the tune in my opinion. Her box seems to be a Hohner black dot double ray, but it is tuned a bit drier than the original hohners. Definitely, her accordion gives a different sound than the wet tuned paolo sopranis.

Glad you liked the clip! We also love the sound of the accordion, do you play yourself?

Amazing, i’m big into tin whistle, but growing up in primary school the whole class used accordions, tin whistles, banjos, mandolins and a few other i can’t remember the names of but i was so good at the tin whistle back then, on route to gaining the skill i used to have with one when i was about 11/12

Where can I get the notes to this tune? Not playing off a sheet using ABC notes

Why is she not playing the bass buttons? I don't get it. Her playing on the treble side is great. But she is playing solo. She needs to add bass for a richer sound when playing solo. She has a nice sounding accordion. But it appears she is missing a button on the treble side. So there is great potential for improvement should she choose to. If she chose to learn the bass buttons it would open a new world to her and to her audience. She could listen and watch Jackie Daly and his use of bass accompaniment when he plays solo. I do notice that many button accordion players will not play bass buttons when they are playing with others who handle bass. But she is playing solo here. Still, I do hear that she is a talented box player despite my observations.

Lots of Irish box players, particularly B/C players like Jo, ignore the bass side. Indeed without retuning, the instrument isn't suited for bass accompaniment in the "fiddle keys." (Jackie plays a C#/D box.). The "missing button" is the "black dot" that gives that model its name--its just black instead of white, with a different surface texture.

Plenty of fiddle tunes tunes don’t need basses and chords. She’s superb.
