@ all the parties, particularly the bigger ones need to take a step back and look at the infrastructural investment in the country. At some point the US companies reporting their profits through Ireland will stop and that will put a huge whole in the piggy bank. I am very protective of our neutrality but the Defense department needs to have a dedicated minister that focuses on our ability to defend our own shores and not be dependent on the Royal Air Force before the poop hits the fan. There have been Russian subs in Irish/British waters way to many times over the past few years for that to be ignored. We need investment there and in the country’s overall cybersecurity. If it were me I would be using the Apple money for that. Also look at connecting rail services from Sligo into Derry city and the Metrolink to Dublin airport and what can be done to make Shannon more accessible or even Knock airport in the West. The government whoever that might be has to do better with the taxpayers money than going three times over budget like they did with the Children’s hospital. Do they need to develop their own team of builders who can take care of these infrastructural projects and build houses so that they don’t have to depend on outside vendors? The one thing that they could definitely start doing today is to get staff trained to be good project managers. The Children’s hospital fiasco is classic poor project management. Awful shameful waste of money when you think about how that 1.5 million over budget could have been used to get some of those scoliosis kids in for surgery on their backs.

There are many things that need to be improved particularly housing,migration and healthcare but the government haven't been all bad, societal improvements have been made, but like always more can be achieved. SF seems to leverage dissatisfaction amongst poorer ppl by claiming a vote for them equals houses for everyone and more welfare. Ireland already has the second most progressive income tax systems in the world, meaning less well off pay little to no tax, higher earners pay more. We badly need to increase our housing stock but we also need to get real about who can get social housing because the burden on income tax can't go higher. Did you know the top 8% earners pay 54% of all income tax, SF would only make this worse. What is it you think SF will do to make things better?

You might have us replace teachers, nurses and doctors with social workers to hand hold societal leeches. Ppl with disabilities, social deprivation, asylum seekers - these are ppl who deserve housing, not ppl who don't know how contraception works and the responsibility involved in bringing kids into the world

Hey babe, I'm not Maggie gladly, just someone who doesn't have a flock of kids because I know it's costly, but somehow my taxes are paying for ppl to have them without the ability to care for them. While medical services, disability services and housing for truly needed ppl aren't properly funded because it's funding ppl with no cop on. Imagine a situation where someone has a stroke and needs social housing but with ppl demanding housing because of the likes demonstrated here they can't get it, how you think this is ok is more surreal than you labelling me the thatch.
