Today, my irish classmate decided to teach me how to step dance to a reel, and I decided to learn. So we went into an empty classroom, turned on youtube, and chose the first reel we saw. And as a result, today I danced my first reel to this. First, I'd like to thank the player for giving us such a smooth tempo. And secondly, well, it's very, very good!

It goes by both names. Farewell to Ireland is probably the older one because it derives from a 200 years old strathspey called Highlander Watches Farewell to Ireland, which you can read on the very same website, but since the Bothy Band recorded it several times as Farewell to Erin, this is the name it usually goes by.

And THAT is why I prefer Neil's rendition to O'Neill's. The " special something" I call it, YOU called it " originality" . He has great potential and he WILL leave a mark in Irish music, of it I am sure.
