I saw Brendan Power in concert at The Greystones in Sheffield, thanks to Bob Hazelwood. I have been playing Tremeloe Harmonica for seventy years, and have never approached his standard, He blew my mind. The thanks of a cranky old Waterfordman, Brandan. You do us proud, and a lovely modest man too.🤗🤗🤗

Thanks for taking the time to write John, it means a lot to be appreciated by people from Waterford, the home if my grandfather John Hyacinth Power. All the best!

Real master of his instrument. Have being playing guitar for years and just now started 2 months ago with the harmonica. I thought i would pick it up quite faster, because i already know how to play in rhythm and understand and hear notes. But the breathing and the techniques on the harmonica are just as, and might even, hard(er) as on the guitar😂 I'm afraid this is going to take me some years, just as on the guitar. Respect sir, some beautiful music!

Thanks Han... Yes, the early stages on harmonica are probably harder than most instruments because you can't see what you're doing. As you say, time and practice are definitely required, there's no avoiding it 🙂

Hi Mr. Power! Got a small question, if it's ok to ask: I've been working on triplet ornamentations, just like the one you do at 03:28, but it's quite difficult to do them smoothly while tongue blocking. Are you puckering? If not, how do you achieve them? Thanks in advance for your time. You're always a huge inspiration for me.
@BrendanPowerMusic Жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm using puckering. I think you need to do that if you want to do tongue triplets. With tongue-blocking it is not free to do anything else on the harmononica except block holes. With puckering, your tongue can add percussive effects, triplets etc. Many players switch between the two embouchures according to the sound they want to make, so I suggest you do that too. Good luck with your playing! BP

can i turn a normal tuned lee osker into a paddy richter without much trouble?
@matthenderson31338 жыл бұрын
+killer mike Paddy Richter's just standard Richter with the blow 3 raised two semitones. If you know how to retune reeds accurately you should be fine.
@paulroseblade6 жыл бұрын
killer mike I learnt to retune reeds quite a while ago . Method . Dismantle harp , and use an old style razor blade snapped in half to fit under the 3 reed to give support while you grind away a little metal from the fat bit at the end . I use a dremel drill. Reassemble , and check the note against a digital tuner. Repeat ad nauseum until you slowly raise through two semi tones . If you go too far , which I have done a couple of times , a microscopic bit of tin solder heated onto the reed can often bring you back to pitch . IT TAKES TIME AND PATIENCE . GOOD LUCK . ANYONE KNOWING A BETTER WAY OF LOWERING THE PITCH OF A reed. Please advise me

I tabbed it all out, but I doubt it will be of any use to you. The best way to deal with something like this is grab audacity and slow it down to 50% (keeping the same rootnote) and then really break it down piece by piece. If you can't figure a piece out I can help you ofcourse.
@staffansvahn13 жыл бұрын
Wow, that was just amazing my friend! It must be very demanding to do triplets on the harmonica... You are a great musician. Best wishes to you Staffan
