Hi there, I’m up north here and basically doing the same as you to a house triple glazed, insulated plasterboard etc regarding your floor? Am I assuming you raised your floor level? I only have 3 inches of screed above my subfloor that would need to come up but I really don’t want to have to lift the sub floor as well. I have listened to you right that you only have 50 mil of the insulated screed ? Anywhere I have looked they say minimum 150. 50 would be ideal for me meaning I only have to raise the floor level 30 mil if the top coat is 50 as well.

@The_Kildare_Reno your videos are brilliant and informative, all your hard work looks like it’s paid off. Well done! We’re planning a renovation on our 50’s bungalow and aren’t sure if the cost/time to dig out the solid floor and rebuild with a decent level of insulation/pipes is worth it. It didn’t look like you dug out the original bungalows floor? What was your floor build up? Did you loose much room height? Thanks

Thanks very much. So we had an original sand and cement screed from the 80’s with styrofoam sheets under this. Total build up was 100mm. So we dug this out down to the subfloor. When we checked the levels on the subfloor we found there was a fall in the house of approx 30mm end to end so we built up with the liquid insulation by between 70-100mm and then the 50mm screed on top of this with our UFH pipes in this also. That was more than enough and the house is very cosy.

Just found your channel there. I’m based in clane in Kildare myself☺️ your house looked very similar to mine the way it was built. Currently in the same situation as yourself with my family where we’re redoing our house . Ours was built in 1983. We’ve also got air to water system do you know what system you gone with?

Hey Jamie! Thanks for checking out our videos. Our air to water system is a 16.2kwh double unit from Ferolli. We went with this one as the reviews online were excellent particularly with the aftercare and they came in at a great price also. We are hoping to install in a few days and then I’ll be popping a video up giving a full run through. The garage is using a separate heat pump from Ferolli which is 7kwh.

Hi I am thinking of doing tla on a new build and I'm just curious as to what foil you laid on top of the tla. Thanks, looks great

Thanks. Yep the membrane is from ROTH in the UK. Same as the pipe. Link : www.roth-uk.com/en/roth-floor-heating-cooling.htm

What did you use for expansion gaps between doorways etc?
@TheKildareReno Жыл бұрын
We had the standard 3.5mm expansion boards installed by the screed guys and cut the excess off before flooring.

Great work, what sort of flooring have you put. We are currently doing the same but confused with flooring options. Most friends have got porcelain tiles but we were wondering what else can go with it. Thanks

Thanks very much. We went with an engineered herringbone oak floor. Completely seamless and works great. You can feel the heat coming through and the floor retains the heat also during the day. Heat pump only runs for 4 hours during the night.

@@TheKildareReno Thanks so much for the reply. Please do share the name of the product if that's ok. Also we are in same boat like other whether to get new gas boiler or heat pump ? Any pointers where to get heat pump cheaply installed with govt grant. Also do we really get hot water for showers ;( ? I wanted to get your feedback on heat pump as well please.

As plumber what u think of heat pump

Yep really good. Takes a bit of setting up to get the temperature balance right but once you have that all set it’s great. We use ours for an hour in the morning for hot water and then heat the UFH as needed but it hardly runs as the house is really well insulated. Electricity bills are very low too which is great
