BEAUTIFUL!! These musicians/vocalists are so very talented! The man playing the double upright bass is so tall he dwarfs the instrument--the first time I have seen that!

Excellent musicianship, and a outstanding arrangement.. I'm assuming these are not professional musicians come up and are sourced from our own armed forces. So they are doing an excellent job,, however as a broadcast and according engineer over 30 years I would like to offer a minor suggestion. When making the violin. Direct Mike over the strings tends to lose the haunting Timbre of the wood, it's always best to Mike off center near one of the sound holes. Or even two microphones, one over the strings and another one near the sound hole would suggest multitrack recording the live performance., so that when it's remixed the lead vocal can be brought up slightly louder, also using a condenser microphone for the female vocal. Would have added greater sharpness and clarity, SM 58 is good for some female performers it tends to be muddy and have a lack of clarity addiction. A KSM 98, or even an SM 57, would be preferable for a female vocal over an sm-58. I'm sure the performers didn't have the ability to pick their live equipment, so this comment is more for the sound engineer and Logistics coordinator.

These are in fact professional musicians. All have one or more conservatory degrees and extensive experience. Check the website in the notes. Your points about studio recording are probably correct, but note that this was live recording of a 90-minute concert featuring a large number of ensembles. I suspect that much of the engineering work was done by the staff at DAR Constitution Hall.
