as a scotsman i always find people doing scottish accents hilarious, please everyone, never stop doing it 😁 but Dermot sounds like an irishman doing an impression of a german doing a scottish accent, it always cracks me up 🤣 and if you ever have a scottish whisky that you are not enjoying, add some drambuie to it. it is then a rusty nail cocktail, very nice indeed 🍷

And how to not drink if you are pregnant. As an Irishman that live in America I just want to mention that growing up I was taught that DRINKING LEADS TO PREGNANCY. But I have yet to get pregnant so maybe that only applies to women and not men.

Other than Darren and Martin crying over not being in this TRY, what a joy this was. I actually expected Dermot & Claire to be the sophisticated tasters, not Grainne's and Daragh. Each pairing experienced this from totally different direction and was a pleasure to watch. I envy anyone who gets to hang with Claire & Dermot, they are HILARIOUS together.

As an American of both Scottish and Irish decent, who happens to really enjoy a good single malt, or a really good Irish whiskey, the best way to try a good scotch is with a tiny splash of spring/filtered water. It smoothes out the stingy burn and allows all the flavor notes to come through. With Irish whiskey, straight up or with a bit of ice and sip it slowly. Since I'm also from the south, I think I'll have a shot of Southern Comfort right now. Slainte!

Went to Islay last summer. Touring the distilleries and tasting evrything was one of the highpoints of my life. Dermot would have a grand time there !

In my personal opinion, more peat the better. If my Scotch taste like I'm drinking a campfire or just eating a fistful full of dirt & grass, I'm a happy man. Smoky & earthy notes, mmmmmm so good!

In modern usage, whisky is from Scotland and whiskey is from Ireland. The difference comes from the translation of words from the Scottish and Irish Gaelic forms. In the late 1800s, Scottish whisky was also very good quality therefore the Irish producers wanted to differentiate their spelling. Whisky’ derives from the Gaelic term usquebaugh which translates as ‘water of life’. Uisge means water. Beatha means life. It’s a term used for many types of invigorating spirits over time, for example Eau de Vie. In modern usage, whisky is from Scotland and whiskey is from Ireland.

Glendronach is one of my favorite scotches, 10 port finish, the 12, 15, and 21. They are all highland sherry cask. I’ve never had or knew they did a peated version.
