Played guitar for nearly 30 years but I think this is the most beautiful instrument I've ever heard.

I used to listen to this song over and over again as a child, it was on a cassette tape named Dove's Figury or something, and my brother busted the tape because I played it too much. I could never find it again until now. Thank you so much! You made my day! :D

I’m sooo happy I was able to help you find this tune again! And I’m glad you love the tune. It’s a fantastic reel. I learned it from Maggie Sansone’s album “Mist & Stone” track 5. She crushes it 🔥

I keep coming back to this because its so awesome. Would be a really cool instrument to see used in Folk Metal, sounds like it would fit in well with an Eluveitie song haha. Awesome work.

How on earth do you play so quickly? You got me there! Its 9am and I forced myself to get up, no energy at all and there you are playing like a madman!! I'm glad I don't have to dance to it!! 🥰🥰👏👏👏👌

Practice, mate! Lots of practice! You develop what’s known as “finger memory”, or maybe more accurately in this case, “hand memory “.

I think you mean using the bounce off the strings to play the next note. Its skill. Just practice and stay loose!

This one was built by myself and a friend of mine, but I would check out Rick Thum, Songbird, Master Works, and Dusty Strings. Unfortunately dulcimers are not cheap, but Rick Thum and Songbird have some of the lowest cost options that I know of

The hammered dulcimer, a predecessor to the modern piano, is an ancient instrument which is found in many cultures under various names. The hackbrett, tympanon, cymbalom, tsymbaly, psaltery, salterio, santur, teadchlar, yangqin, and khim are all variations of, or related to, the hammered dulcimer. In the British Museum there are even ancient Egyptian engravings of musicians playing similar instruments. In the Accademia Gallery in Florence, just around the corner from Michelangelo's statue of David, you can even find one made out of marble! It's fun to contemplate how humans across the world have been making versions of this particular instrument for centuries. ;)
