Wow! I used to take fiddle lessons in my 40s; I never got a foundation like this! This is a wonderful, no pressure way to learn at your own pace. And such a lovely person to teach us! Who could ask for more? “ Thank you so much!

I am also a senior and started learning Ukulele during lockdown and I am very interested in learning Fiddle also. May I ask where you got your Fiddle from and how much I can expect to pay for a beginner's instrument please?

Howdy! I have to say, I really enjoy these lessons. Very easy to follow, I know one calls Fiddling, and another will say Violin, and Violinist will call themselves Fiddle player too. Anyway, I know the difference, but its nice to get the Irish take in Irish Fiddle Lessons, brushing up and then take it to a more free-style as Hillbilly Fiddlin be!!! Love the smiling teacher and teachings, its gentle in her style, love the graphics showing the strings and notes too once we start, plus I can hit pause and start and replay. My heartfelt thank you to the video's, makers and teacher!!! Twinkle-Twinkle why I am a star!!!! lol

Been taking classical violin lessons for years as a kid. Loved it. Then tried my hand at Irish, especially when I lived in Ireland, but struggled with the transition from classical. After years of only occasional playing I’m trying to get back to it. Still love Mozart and Vivaldi and stuff but want more easy going so found these lessons. Don’t need the basics so much but really well explained. Want to train myself to play without sheet music and just play tunes with my kids. These lessons look so promising! Can’t wait to get stuck in again. Thanks so much for this!

Thanks for the teaching. I've learned and memorized dozens of songs, but don't know the art of keeping the bowing arm in a proper motion for good tone......would love any secrets on fixing those issues.

Just starting watching the series of videos. The only comment (or suggestion) I can think of is: It would be nice for me as a beginner to have you count before we start playing together. You know like, 1, 2, 3, start. Because with a bow in one hand and a fiddle in the other, no free hand to start/stop the video.

I feel like im having problems with my rosin. It keeps getting on the violin strings and messing up the tune
@spencer65267 жыл бұрын
I'm still learning. It is nice just to come back to the basics and really hear the sound of the scale. Like the longbow to make sure i'm hitting the note in tune. Could you do a Irish role to Twinkle Twinkle?? We all have this tune programed from childhood so it could be a way to understand the Irish Jig.

Hi, I have a viola that I find easier to handle because of my big hands. I'm just a beginner. Can I use the viola to learn or do I really need to buy a violin?
@onlineacademyofirishmusic5 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, The general consensus is the tunes are far easier to play on a fiddle. You have to figure out how to play each tune an octave down on viola and the fingering can get complex.

Hi. Love the lessons and I’m slowly getting a recognisable twinkle, twinkle. I have a question which is, bow bounce. Is that something that goes with practice, ie your wrists and fingers become stronger? Or is it a bowing technique issue? Many thanks.

Looking to try learning the fiddle for Irish music. I understand the type of bow makes a difference and what type of fiddle would I be looking for besides having good strings. I have looked at German and Romanian made. But suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks,Charlie
@onlineacademyofirishmusic4 жыл бұрын
For beginners any fiddle with a half decent set up and new of strings would be fine.

Thanks, how do you tell the difference between a fiddle and violin? On EBay they advertise violin/fiddle. Hope everyone is safe in IE

hello! I just got a fiddle for my birthday as i've been banging on for years at Celtic Connections in Glasgow how much I'd love to play. These videos are great! I have some basic music knowledge from playing trumpet but this is so different of course. silly question but where should i look? I usually look at where I'm bowing as I'm concentrating but the strings are so close i start to go cross eyes with them and they blur !! - is that normal??

Hi, Is this an Irish version of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star? Another video by someone else was starting with A. I am a beginner and looking up videos online and just wondered if there were different versions.

! I find it strange you only got 10 comments. ... ? I'm a terrible guitar player but a good writer. I want to play my music and not give it to someone. Music means something to me I feel it. I want to write it and play it it to everyone for free. 1I'm going to try the fiddle. I don't own a cell phone. just this computer. Thank you for this wise guidance ..

How do I stop my strings from squeaking? I have resin on the bow, I have it tightened, and I cleaned off my strings, but it still doesn’t play without squeaking. What else should I try to get it to stop?
@onlineacademyofirishmusic4 жыл бұрын
Roisin build up is the main culprit, especially on the e string. Try wiping the strings and bow then let me know if that helps.
