A little tip for binders, get the closest color to your skin tone so you can wear clothes that are more seethrough like white tshirts.

but also, if you tend to wear a lot of black clothes, get a black one. the necklines of shirts is often larger than the binder's, and you can sometimes see the binder's neckline, and it's usually less visible if it's the same color as your shirt. idk if im clear lol but if it's black, it's more likely to pass as your shirt or just as a tank top you'd be wearing underneath, but a skin-colored is more likely to get people wondering "wtf are you wearing under that?"

A friend of mine started using transtape. He loves it for around the house, and it makes showering so much easier. He still wears at least a sports bra in public, but without the tape the bra isn't enough. He said the combo of the tape and the binder (from forthem, he loves it) is the most gender euphoria he's ever felt. I'll have to ask him about the adhesive on the tape. He has skin issues, so I guess it isn't that bad if he wears it a week at a time. He does take breaks though Update: he said his skin irritation is minimal as long as he uses oil to remove it. He also has been letting his skin rest a few days before putting new tape. He isn’t sure how much of a difference that makes since he’s only been using it for about a month

Question: why would someone bind at home / around the house?
@elizabeth0711
@elizabeth0711 3 ай бұрын
Could you possibly ask him what kind he uses? The one I use isn’t amazing but I don’t rly want to stop cuz it makes me feel comfy in my body (though it’s physically uncomfy) so it would be great if I could find a better kind:)
@spookfruit

@@annafilou Different people can have different reasons,but for both my friend and me (I’ve started using the tape too) body dysphoria. It can really mess with your head. Personally showering is the worst. When it gets really bad I can struggle to force myself to shower. Plus no bra, no binder, yet still no bounce feels amazing! Some people bind not just to pass, but for personal comfort. I like the way my body feels when I’m wearing the tape better than without
@spookfruit
@spookfruit 3 ай бұрын
@@elizabeth0711 the brand is transtape. I started using too :) We both use the 5 inch tape but I have been cutting the thickness in half and using more pieces. I would definitely recommend looking up different application methods. There are plenty of videos on youtube of people showing how they apply their tape. The number and sizes of the pieces you use and the placement can effect how it feels. I think I finally figured out the pattern that works best for me. I had to remove an application the same day one time because of how uncomfortable and itchy my skin was. I had never had that problem before at the time, so I didn’t think it was the adhesive or an allergy. I think I just pulled too tight during application, so it was pulling my skin too much. I just waited a few days and tried again without pulling as tight. I haven’t had any issues since

A really useful thing for me (Trans boy, very much a minor, no T, no op, no binder, all improvised) Is wearing a tank top underneath you shirt and tucking it TIGHT into your waistline, if you get it to lay right it can pull taut and not only hide a lot of the shape of the pointy mfing honkers but also kinda flatten them out if they aren’t already compressed. And for those wondering about heat, it is noticeably hotter and more humid but so long as you aren’t running a marathon in full sun you should be fine, note that I am from a southern state in America, so other countries may have hotter summers or weaker people idk

Ive come out to my whole family, even though they dont understand and areant as supportive im still happy. This also really helps me for when i need chest binder breaks and i still wanna hide my chest. I cant be openly trans where i live because its a transphobic community. Ty, as a minor this is so helpful. ALSO, I FEEL THE SLOUCHING PART. I do it subconsciously and honestly have no clue when I'm slouching or not, simply because of my chest. Mainly due to my voice which already makes me self conscious, because I feel like people can automatically tell that I'm not a bio male. Word of advice guys, don't worry about how your voice sounds! Especially if you're still under 18, it's hard to ignore/deal with, Ik. But it'll be okay, promise, just try to distract yourself or do something that you like. So that you aren't as worried about your voice, which I know is easier said than done but you've got this! ✨

just an important note: non-binary doesn't mean just having no gender. it's an umbrella term for anyone who isn't 100% male and only male 100% of the time, or 100% female and only female 100% of the time. having no gender, being male but only sometimes, being male AND female, your gender changing, and anything else are ALL non-binary identities!

im just gonna share a little tip i have, as a person that binds by wearing multiple sports bras because my parents cannot know i’m enby (theyre unsupportive) when getting new shirts i pay attention to how loose they are around the the neck and shoulders. often times my shirts slip and slide and it’s very easy to see i’m not wearing only one bra so it’s important for that area of my shirt to be firm and not move. be safe guys!

Here is what I did to get a binder incase it helps anyone. I told my family i was planning on doing some cosplays that needed to have a flatter shape because they were male characters and I showed them pictures of said character so they got me them and then after I got them I said that I can't do them this year because of the cost of the other things that I would need. If this helps give anyone ideas or anything I'm glad I could help.

Thank you for the tips! I like my chest to look flat but I tend to get uncomfortable with any compression on my chest, even regular bras feel too constricting. What helps me the most is layers, which is tricky in summer. I like to wear lightweight button up shirts over tank tops or bralettes. They are nice to wear in the summer as long as they are breathable fabric and they also are good to keep the sun off your skin. I also got some overall shorts recently and I love to wear them in summer because it adds an extra layer to cover my chest without being too hot. When I do wear a binder I wear my old one that's kind of stretched out so it's more comfortable.

I can't use binders and never really liked any bras, even if they're very loose, because it makes me feel like I can't breathe. But I tried tape now (I can't buy proper trans tape here, so it's just normal sports tape, but many people use it for that too) and it's really good? I was worried for sensory issues too, but I feel it much less than bras or anything. It can be a bit itchy because of the glue, but maybe proper trans tape would be different. I don't thnk there's any dangers or health risks, as long as you take it off with oil or cream. After wearing it some time it also goes off easier. For me it's fine as long as I don't wear it longer than like 8-9 days. My skin gets a bit irritated by taking it off but that's gone after a bit. It also helps to put cream on before putting the tape on...just not everywhere bc then the tape doesn't stick.

I have to mention that binding tape also exists and can be used, even for bigger chests. It's less restrictive/hot than a binder and easier to hide under clothes. It's not as flat as a binder but leaves your chest looking much more like pecs. Your mileage may vary, of course. I find it makes wearing tank/muscle tops so much easier for me because the feeling of bras and binders drew my attention to my chest way too much.

Another good binder option is Tomscout, it’s made in my country which is known for being pretty hot and humid (30 Celsius average temp) so it’s good for summer weather. I was kind of disappointed because I thought my chest would be completely flat as a board, but ig with my size that’s just not realistic. It’s a pretty comfy binder and the fabric is nice and breathable

i call mine "the boys". my biggest tip for binding is to go actually look at people's naked chests and internalize the idea that a vast majority of chests on people whose nipples aren't illegal on youtube are rounded outward more than most think. my next tip is: learn some upper body yoga and do them habitually (pretend it's your a video game character and that's your idol animation!) im a fat person with c-cups (d on my period), and my most recent breakthrough in comfortable binding is the humble ribbed a-frame undershirt. i wear them tucked into my pants under my shirts. theres something about the stretch fabric linking my stomach and chest together. in combination with my own associations with that specific type of shirt and buch/masc identity. like there's something so euphoric about being part of a clothing tradition that my grand-dad's grand-dad would understand. (light undershirts were standard parts of men's underwear for a long time until laundry and clothing were made so very convenient.) and while it may be counter-intuitive- adding a plant-based layer inbetween my skin and the plastic clothing gives the sweat somewhere to collect and evaporate which keeps me cooler longer. instead of when i would wear anything else (including just a shirt) because the sweat would be trapped underneith the polyester/acrylic/lycra/spandex/microplastic/ fabric and just make me wet and hot(derogatory) all day. also shirts that are stiff in the front are fantastic to help with that resting-to-drop-off transition at the top of your chest. whether that's a thick blocky graphic, a large patch or applique, or a pressed button up, it can help smooth over that area.

In my opinion, it’s very comfortable and easy to wear, and hides my chest pretty alright! Even if you’d like, try a size lower than your size! Not sure if it would be comfortable as I haven’t tried, but I’d love to hear! :D

This is incredibly helpful! I can't safely wear a binder (connective tissue disorder makes my ribs dislocate too easily, even some sports bras do the same thing so I have to be very careful) and binding with tape, while more comfortable, is expensive and I get friction blisters so easily even if I do everything right. So seeing different ideas for disguising my chest is very helpful!

I’ve been putting two sports bras. The first one normal and the second one turned around. It works pretty well and my chest is not that noticeable. My parents and friends probably would accept me if I actually asked for a binder, so this works well.

After also having my initial discomfort with a gc2b binder, Shapeshifters was my upgrade. Liked the customizeability of the size/cut and options for zipper placement (I put it on the side to I could unzip it without anything showing, as I also wear it like a shirt with nothing over/under it).

As someone who wears trans tape a lot (usually to exercise + move) and has a lot of sensory issues I would definitely recommend, just make sure you buy baby oil and read the instructions thoroughly many many times - also cover the sensitive areas of your chest because the tape can damage them if not properly covered

I can recommend Transtape if binders or even sportbras feel uncomfortable on your ribs , because it doesn’t give tension on your ribs

Have you ever tried binding tape? Bras and binders were too much for me but binding tape feels much better when I apply it correctly. Also, for the pants: you can't minimise hips so instead try to create a straight line from hip to ankle (or hip to knee for shorts). Think wide, straight-cut pants. Your curves will be swallowed up.

Kinetology(?) tape is great too and cheaper than transtape. I personally use that and i never had issues with it. I think there are also some biodegradable versions but its more expensive.

For anybody consdering transtape: The perks for me are very good- I can bike to college and go swimming without worrying, I can sleep in it, I don't have to take daily breaks, I can be shirtless around the house and be more comfortable about it, and for me its more comftorble although the only binder I've ever tried is homemade so take that with a grain of salt. I live in the UK so recommendation for anybody like me who is outside of the US is to buy normal old kinesthetics tape and just use it like trans tape (shipping costs an arm and a leg and I've heard people say iunbranded works better idk tho since I haven't personally haven't used any yet). Abit of a warning, i would say it binds about as well as a compressive sports bra the main thing is does it reshapes your chest to make then look a bit more like pecks, and since it moves the tissue to the side it also makes it appear flatter than it is. I would say it probably won't really work too well if you have a large chest however if for whatever reason you don' want to use a traditional binder and you dot like using sports bras, I would 100% recommend giving it a try. My only issue is I wish it was a bit easier to use and i wish i didn't basically have to pay monthly for it. I personally want to get a binder of some sort to wear as an alternative for winter so i don't have to constantly spend as much money.

Instead of slouching i wear things that create a barrier between someone's eyes and a side view of my chest. (e.g. Unzipped zip up sweatshirts) and i also cross my arms (usually not hugging the bottom of my chesticles) and that makes it seem smaller in most outfits. (plus i wear a lot of oversized shirts with stiff fabric so that helps with making my chest seem flatter when i cross my arms)

Idk if this is just me but transtape hurts my skin really bad, so, if you are trying it for the first time, test it on your arm or smt with a small piece to make sure it won’t irritate your skin (It hurt for weeks after bcuz it messed up my skin so bad i couldn’t wear a binder for a while lmao)

today, I (minor, very pre-t) dressed way more masc. with my binder on, and my family noticed it. I havent come out (they have an idea im trans; my sister knows outright and I have the genderfluid flag in my room), but I still felt happy, even though they kept mentioning how I shouldn't wear a binder at all. They were passive aggressive, but at least gave me advice on losing my chest fat (or chesticles). I plan to work out to at least minimize my chest as much as I naturally can XD I love them. Either way I felt so damn good, presenting as a boy!

Great video! Love the tips! I've hated my chest since puberty due to assault and have always been interested in, yet intimidated by, finding a good binder. Currently i just have a few sports bras that are super comfy and somewhat reducing. But they're old and i can't even read the brand name so soon I have to do some shopping. I love the zipper one the most. So easy to get on and off and looks comfy as heck.

when it comes to sensory things. i am a person who doesn't like to feel restricted alot or sticky; it overstimulates me so i struggle with finding a binding method that i feel comfy with, its usually just sports bras for me. and wearing the trans tape was not the issue for me it was the taking it off part. because it is so so sticky and you have to rub your skin raw to get it off, for a couple days too. the trans guy supply was better for me than the trans tape brand but that is just my personal opinion from my experience.

im a huge fan of transtape/kinesiology tape! i use it mostly full time personally! (i take breaks and use a binder here and there!) though there Are a lot of downsides with the kind of freedom you get with it 1. removing it is a Pain. its a long ass oil soak then a 20 minute shower once a week to get it off without removing your skin with it (which if youre impatient you WILL. its not fun). some brands might be different, but the tape i use is super waterproof so the adhesive is pretty full on lol 2. its kind of pricy. the tape i use, a 6m roll of kinesiology tape, is $15 aud which kinda adds up compared to a one time price of a binder. i typically use 6 pieces of tape measuring maybe 10cms each time so $2.50 a week! 3. its unfortunately only feasible to get a FLAT chest with smaller breasts, though ive heard people with larger chests use tape in tandem with other binding techniques to shape and get those thangs Secured. it really comes down to anatomy and technique, like personally i can get relatively flat, but its not guaranteed? i still find its really worth it to try, it lets me do a lot of active things with the freedom of having a flat chest and to wear shirts more comfortably. my biggest tips are to: shower and then clean the area with alcohol before putting on the tape (so no oils interfere with the adhesive), round out the edges of each strip of tape to minimise lifting, warm up each strip with your hands to activate the adhesive (and rub over it after applying), and get a good flattening sports bra because wearing it over top helps lock everything in especially in the first few hours! also if the tape itches you probably didnt wait long enough between applications lol. hope this helps someone!
