I recently realized that "I like how it looks" is different from "I want to wear it". I'm trying to figure out how to dress now. It also helps to pick an "icon," or someone you want to look like.

My issue is that i wanna try like multiple different styles. Emo, scene, punk, pastel goth, decora, are some of the terms I've found for looks i like. The other issue i have is confidence in myself because all the looks i like are typically worn by girls and i am a guy. Not only that but i have a beard and very rarely do you see people with a beard wearing stereotypically fem clothing. So i have no one to look at as an idol or example. And i stuggle with feeling valid in enjoying what i want to because it is so different. 7:15 this is a really good point. At home I'm happy wearing all sorts of things but if i go out i then worry if people are gonna be mean or try to hurt me.
@priscillainwhiteКүн бұрын
you might wanna check out Deadlift Lolita, might not help you out much but they're a duo of bodybuilding musicians one guy and one girl. the guy has a beard and still dresses in lolita just the same as the girl. inspiration is out there, though sometimes hard to find. im not aware of any other specifics off of the top of my head, but drag is also a good starting point. if you are really concerned with the juxtaposition of a beard and feminine clothing give it a shot anyways and see how it goes. maybe you will end up wanting to shave, maybe you will end up happy with things as they are. it is all about exploration and it is a very personal journey. it may be something you just keep to yourself as it is no doubt that plenty of people arent too receptive to breaking norms, but it is all for yourself anyways. as for wanting to try a bunch of different things, i would reiterate the point in the video of just getting a couple things at a time. start with a couple foundation pieces of an outfit and slowly work towards building one outfit as a time. sure, it will take a while, but you will be able to really hone in on what you like and what you still need as time goes on. if nothing else, just give things a shot and see if they stick. i wish you good luck on your journey.

Hey! I totally love your style. I have tiny camera tip that you might find useful. If you film with a normal camera, I recommend you turn off the auto-focus on your camera when filming still shots. You then have to set the focus manually, but it should only take 2 seconds, and you wouldn't get the strange flickering on your blinds in the background. Just make sure you don't forget to also change the focus when you do close-up shots of your jewelry, because it won't focus automatically anymore if you do change the setting. :)

something i do while thrifting is wander around and look at clothes for maybe 30 mins, then think about which clothes i still remember. this works especially for me bc i like buying stupid shirts that say dumb things on them- if something is funny then ill remember it better PLUS it'd be something I'm more inclined to wear anyway

2:48 with thrifting though new pieces can cost less than a bottle of water so if you don't like it you can just donate it back. For the price of one pair of jeans brand new here I could get 5 different complete outfits. I guess thrifting might be more expensive in some places though.

When i went to college this last fall semester, i really wanted to become stylish 😭 and for some reason i thought, "Oh, i'm broke, so i'll cut these perfectly good baggy jeans up and make a maxi skirt." i wore that green canvas skirt the WHOLE SEMESTER, even though my roommate was telling me it was the "Hobo skirt" and it looked awful. Looking back.. yeah it was a hobo skirt. it was tattered, loose threads coming off etc, but it really ended up helping me explore what i liked and what i didn't like. more than anything, it helped my figure out what *not* to do 😭 i made it with the intention of giving off an artsy crafty vibe, like "Oh ye, i make my own clothes for fun" but i realized i really wasn't comfortable with how much it was making me stand out. I'd seen it's exact look on places like pinterest or instagram, and thought i would totally slay the outfit. *I did, infact, not slay the outfit.*

@irisolympia22 күн бұрын
i have no idea 😭 (mommy needs to let u express urself she can do what she wants with her OWN hair!!) I love using Pinterest for inspiration because I don't like going outdoors to obvserve, but more because what the type of clothes I like to wear are difficult to find in public and I have a huge folder of photos of pieeces of clothing that I like or would like to have similar items of. for me, its less about "omg i need all of that" and more "hmm i would really love a sweater that would fit me like that, I'll keep an eye out in the charity shops" and sometimes i dont even find anything and thats all okay! I don't really have a job unfortunately, so buying clothes is something I have to resort to special occassions, so it feels extra sepcial to find something I've had my eye on for a long long time, and I often find that using charity shops or vinted are more rewarding for me because my style focuses on a homemade/worn look. Ive even been taking it a step further by actually making some tshirts for myself haha
